  • i have a carbon fiber trunk...im wanting to paint it flat black? any ideas?

  • Great job. Still scary for a noob like me to tackle this kind of job though.

  • You should've sanded and cleared your headlights too lol

  • can you do this on a carbon and fiber spoiler?

  • frustrating because it should be called how to repair clear coat. He is not repairing the carbon fibre.

  • Could I use the same technique but instead of doing clear over the carbon fiber could i do paint then clear? it would be for fenders and i want to paint them the same color as my car.

  • How long did you wait after each layer of clear coat? That's where I messed up, Thanks. Great video by the way!

  • @xxdbriderklx110xx You want to wait until the previous layer is somewhat dry (tacky to the touch...but don't touch it! :) It depends on how humid it is where you are from and how fast the paint is drying. Don't let it completely dry though.

  • @XxREAPER3024xX you can if you want.

  • Do you wet sand it after you were done clearcoating?

  • Do you recommend using rattle can because I don't have small spots like that. Just a big piece of clear coat on the side peeled off.

  • @mrkingquang You can try it out. It might stand out from the current layer of clear coat which is probably duller then the new stuff that you will spray on. If that is the case, then you can sand it off and do the whole thing.

  • absolutely grea job with the video. It has helped me out greatly and now I will be doing the same thing with my cf hood. How long has it been since you cleared? Still look good?

  • u fuckin smart fucker..lol..nice job..I'm so doing this..how would I fix chippe pieces of c.f.

  • cool! thx for posting! this really helps!

  • Great vid, bro! clean, direct and to the point. Thanks!

  • for all the diy painters doing paint jobs in your garage,1-do all the dirty/dusty work at one time(duh)2-use tack cloth to get fine dust off after cleaning 3-on a budget and don't have plastic liner, you can wet the floor down and that will keep the dust down while spraying 4-spray 1 light coat and let it sit for 15mins. it gives a good sticky coat for the next solid coats(less runs)make the spray as wide as possible, overlap your spray by 50%,let each coat dry a lil b4 spraying again Good Luck!

  • Thanks for the video, very informative

  • thank you this video was helpful to me

    keep it up

  • the link to how to setup the spray gun dont work, i need that lol

  • Can you post the link of where you got the spray gun? I couldn't really hear you... please and thanks! And Also Where can you purchase and how much is a compressor?

  • Can you post the link of where you got the spray gun? I couldn't really hear you... please and thanks!

  • @MagneticFlowz I got the gun at Harbor Freight.

  • @chefigo would that be a store or a website.. and where did you get the compressor for the gun? You need that and a hose right? How much was that? :D

  • Great DIY, is hardener/activator required?

  • @HyphyMovementZ no...the premixed duplicolor clear is a laquer based clearcoat, and is ready to shoot

  • Great vid, couldnt be any more simple than that.

  • awesome video man!

  • has the oxidation returned at all?

  • @bigggyB Not yet. Especially if you use a quality paint.

  • Wow thank you sir................

  • Wow that turned out beautiful.

  • By any chance does anyone know how to fix scratches on a carbon fiber hood? I have some and just want to get rid of them.

  • great video u have made sir helped out a bunch

  • Great job man

  • great vid. i'm not a fan of shiny clear coats, due to what quite obviously happened to you haha, and also because it adds extra weight and makes it more fragile... but this was very informative :)

  • Good job. I needed info on this

  • You really went all out on this. Have you painted anything prior to justify buying the paint gun or do you use the paint gun any more after this project? Very good video. This will last a lifetime. Most hoods that people buy tend to just have a light cheap clear on it. If people did it this way, they'll never have a problem again. Good stuff.

  • I have a few question. if you dont mind answer me :)

my hood is new so what do I need to do just to paint a few clear coats on it?

how much waiting time between the 4 coatings (im planning to do 4 coats)?

how long does the clear coat last on your hood?

  • man youre pretty good

  • @JohnyFear yeah meguiars ultimate compound or 3M polishing compound iv even used turtle wax and it's good too

  • nice.. how much was the compressure?

  • 40 psi

  • @chefigo no...i ment how much did it cost you silly! lol

  • nice

  • well done bro....looks really good

  • has the oxidation returned since the repair?

  • Nope. It has been several months now and the clear coat still looks great!

  • Thank you taking the time to do this video. I am going to do a tennis racquet using your method.

  • Would this method work work spray paint clear coat in a can?

  • I guess so. There are some videos on YouTube of a guy that just uses spray cans. You should find it.
