Maude had a completely different body than Dorothy on Golden Girls. Bea Arthur decided to lose weight around 1980 and she never gained any of it back.
I remember when Maude was introduced as a character on "All In the Family". Then it became a highly successful series. But by the fourth season it began losing steam and ended two years later. A funny show from the 70s but now just a fond memory for those of us old enough to recall.
Wow, I never knew that J. Pat O'Malley ever made it into the opening credits! I was born in 1977, so I didn't get to see it during its original run. I first saw reruns of "Maude" in 1990.
@snoopy64116 I wished both the boys that played Carol's son, Phillip, Brian Morrison (1922-77) and Kraig Metzinger (1977-78) had gotten into the opening credits as well. The Phillip character was a minor one, but did play a major part in some of the episodes (My most memorable Brian Morrison episode was when he and Maude was making a model of the Mayflower and Maude spanked him, my Kraig Metzinger favorite was when he had the house party).

After Maude left the air, the set was used as the dormatory for the Facts of Life!
