Now THIS is what I think of when I think Disney Channel, not that stuff they have around now. My family didn't have it in the 80s, but I used to always watch when we got a free preview. Loved it. My parents finally got the station in about 1992 or 1993. I was so happy! I miss the old days where Disney Channel had variety, not all tween stuff.
@ssjup81 Raven was paid to overact. It's a style of comedy. She actually is a very good actress. You should check out her dramatic role in the Liftetime movie :For One Night. She's really very good. She's also a clean, decent role model and a very intelligent and accomplished young lady. I really admire what she has accomplished in just 26 years of living.:)
@flowersings It wasn't just her, seems the entire cast overacted. My younger cousin (who's 17 now and a high school senior) was a fan of the show. I chalked up my dislike of the show to my being in my mid to late 20s at the time the show originally aired, but I do know that Raven can act, though as I have seen her in stuff outside of that and I do have respect for her and do feel that she is a good role model for children.

The problem with the modern day Disney is that its emphasis is no longer on family entertainment or quality entertainment for that matter. I miss the old Disney so much. Now, there are no channels that offer high quality, clean family entertainment. I never even watch tv anymore. I just get on youtube and take a stroll down memory lane. @flowersings Well, ABC have some family sitcoms now. One has Tim Allen (who even said something along about how TV now seems you have to have sex in it or toilet humor and how that's something he'd never do and believes in family stuff and clean entertainment for younger folks to watch). I think his new show is doing decently, though I've never seen it. I kinda don't watch much television for the same reasons you mentioned.

I don't know about you all but I could go for another Not quite human sequel or how about Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveler, Avonlea, Vault Disney, The Wonderful World of Disney, Those creepy Mickey Puppet commercial bumpers, Bug Juice, Ocean girl, Spellbinder, all the old classic disney cartoons.
The concept for "100 Lives of Black Jack Savage" makes it sound just a little bit like that never-finished Nickelodeon show "100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd" (I remember kinda liking that show as a kid, and got ticked off that they never bothered to finish it with a TV movie that just skips right to the last deed). Yeah I guess it's kind of a common concept (I'm sure there's books and movies that tell similar redemption stories), but still.
The only good thing on Disney Channel today, IMO, is Phineas and Ferb. The show just reminds me a lot of childhood. It's imaginative, the characters are funny, and it's got some pretty cleaver writing from the same people who worked on the early seasons of Family Guy (you know, before Family Guy got overly preachy [lol, "preachy atheists"], most of the humor degraded to just being generally stupid, and characters were overly flanderized [check TVTropes if you don't get the last word]).
To be honest I miss these shows a lot. This video makes me sad and happy. It makes me sad because it reminds me of the good old times. Those shows are nothing compare with these modern, crap, and trash tv shows in these times! I just wish people would put these shows back on the air. Please bring back the TRUE Disney channel! I loved Disney channel back in the late 80's through the 90's. Disney Channel was so much more magical -even the commercials- back then. I miss watching The Adventures of chip n Dale, Here's Donald, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, and all the other great shows Disney used to air. Really wish Disney would air all these wonderful shows for the kids of this generation. They deserve a better childhood then what's being aired on today!

I liked Lizzie Mcguire from start to finish and the (early) episodes of Thats so Raven, but it got worse overtime. But I think the real reason Disney went downhill was all this High School Musical, Hannah Montana, and Jonas Brothers crap. Everything after 2005 was trash.

I know all the words to the songs sung by Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, and Belle.
I own almost all the classic Princess films, and still collect Cinderella and Ariel stuff with no shame.
I grew up with Ariel and Cinderella, you're growing up with Miley and HSM=I WIN.

The station was was already falling apart after they killed Vault Disney and put on crap like LIzzie McGuire and That's so Raven. Miley's mainly helped dig the grave even further.

@ReijiThePhantom to be honest I think this through the 90's and earlier 2000's was okay. I liked Lizzie Mcguire from start to finish and the (early) episodes of Thats so Raven, but it got worse overtime. But I think the real reason Disney went downhill was all this High School Musical, Hannah Montana, and Jonas Brothers crap. Everything after 2005 was trash.

@ravengurl92 IMO, the only bad thing about Raven was that the acting was bad. To be honest, though, I did see some of that Lizzie McGuire show. Guess kids could relate to her, but I just can't see that with that Raven show.

Ha this brought back so many memories. I still remember wanting to get home in time to watch the new darkwing duck. I kept telling my mom that we had to hurry up and get home. She asked me for what and I told her about darkwing. Needless to say she took her time and I made it just in time lol

I really miss old Disney and I 100% guarantee that if Walt were alive he would be too. I remembber when I was a kid and we didn't get the Disney Channel and I always looked forward to the free preview weekend. Once it became avaiable to everyone it went downhill. Disney Channel has replaced Mickey and Goofy with Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers. They are the new faces of Disney and it's a shame.
