  • I guess you can't blame the uneducated for assuming the worst. Plus, it sells papers.

  • I love how they always say 'London, England'. Seriously, how many Londons are there?

  • Obviously Brian was joking... look at his face after the "YES", ROFL

Well the hang over will make him wish never drink again, LOL

But pseudo-scientist (doomsday sayers and all the crackpots) will say that what he said the truth!!! because a "physicist told so"

  • I drink with a variety of phd's physicists and such. They are the best types of people to have a pint with! Interesting intellects

  • good god...

  • brian cox. you will be mine someday. oh YES: you WILL!!!!! you belong with me :( i wont mind your agelessness

  • @marianiiina stalk much? ahahah

  • that was fun

Why are people always making up shitty stories like, a black hole, or planet x that will appear from no where and destroy the planet?

  • By far the most informative video on Youtube. XD Awesome.

  • They're so funny. I love Phil Plait... "This is gonna be on youtube you know, so... dozens of people are going to see it..."

    LOL...

  • I've written a song dedicated to Professor Brian Cox. You can find it on my channel or search "song for professor brian cox" and find my name Jules Mann. If you're free please check it out and leave a comment.

    ;-P ...funny guy

  • Hilarious xD

  • OH SHIIT!

  • hilarious.

  • dozens lol

  • What a relief!

  • "Yes...err, no" haha, awesome stuff. Tbh I was a bit shocked when I heard you ask that question Phil. So I was roped into the joke quite nicely.

  • Poor Brian must be sick to death of the whole "black whole will destroy the earth" nonsense. He must get it every time he meets someone new and every time the media calls for a story. I'll bet he's so sick of it that some days he wishes the LHC could create a black hole that would destroy the Earth just so he didn't have to put up with being asked the same bloody question over and over and over ad nauseum.

That being said, thanks Phil. Fun times.

  • Any images of Plait or Cox sunning themselves on rocks?

  • Awsome vid'. Loved it. :)

  • No, if it does anything, it'll just create a magnificently microscopic black hole that will evaporate or fizzle away almost as immediately as it came into existence. Thank you Hawking for that piece of wisdom.

  • I'm a fan! You guys are my Nerd TV idols.

  • Cox FTW

  • dozens of people are going to see this? I almost spit my coffee out laughing

  • awesome. more cox video please! :)

  • The BA with the inside scoop.

  • The truth was eventually told!

  • @steff

You need to ask yourself "where are the peer reviewed papers?" and "what is this persons motivation". Instead of blindly believing and regurgitating whatever makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.

Honestly you 'secret' fruit cakes are as bad as 2012ers.

  • lmao hahahahahaha pmsl you will see 25 this month you will see

  • great, can't wait. PM me when it happens :D

  • i wont have 2 lol

  • Peer-review studies or GTFO.

  • Peer reviewed studies? You mean the very basic thing needed to make any claim about the accuracy of pseudo scientific nonsense?

You ask far too much from him... her... it.

  • Comment removed

  • might die my ass.. everybody's gone if there was lol

  • Since you obviously dont seem to understand...

Black holes are simply objects which have collapsed in upon their own gravity (due to being very dense). They can be objects immensely large AND... small.

They could not create a large dangerous one in the LHC because they would need an object much larger than the earth to do so.

What they hope to create (in addition to initial conditions) is at best is tiny...micro... black holes which will last a second or so before gaining too much mass.

  • Yeah, it was a joke. Speaking of dense.

  • haha that was great, thanks phil :)

  • He gave a great talk at TAMLondon, really glad I went!

  • I knew it!!!

  • OooOoOoHH! It's Brian Cox! 0.o

  • Dr. Cox, a hero of mine!

  • so damn lucky.

    i admire this fooo

  • Brian Cox seems like a pretty cool guy. Seen a couple of hour long specials he's hosted 'What on Earth is Wrong with Gravity?' and 'What time is it?' so you know, I like totally know him personally. =P

  • Dude owns

  • When is Brian Cox going to do Top Gear? The "other" Brian Cox's time was so dismally bad it is ruining the real Brian Cox's reputation!

  • I obviously missed that Top Gear episode. Everytime I see the name Brian Cox on that list I wonder if it is the "real" Brian Cox, or just that "other" Brian Cox (and "dismally bad" just isn't a negative enough description).

Now I know which it is, thanks. Looks like we need to start a petition to get him on there, I bet he'd get a good time.

  • Oh Noooooooooooooo, we're all doomed!!!!!!! Run for your li- Oh, wait, he said yes. That's okay then.

I did love his opening talk, but I do have to say that as a jet-lagged traveller arriving at 8 in the morning, opening the talk with a heavy dose of theoretical physics might have been a LITTLE much for my bleary, sleep deprived brain. But if anyone could pull it off, Brian Cox could :)

  • Hahaha, "dozens of people".

Brian Cox is hawt as fuck!!!

  • Ah Brian Cox is one of my favorite physicists ^_^

    ...

Although, I've gotta say, as far as musicianship, Brian May is infinitely better.

  • James Randi is a badass
