@toddlog34 I would've spent more time on the water heater but sense the relief vavle was working fine afterall, I thought I would shoot a little ocean as well. Sorry. Joe :0
t&p dicharge need to be piped directly to within 1ft of the floor at the water heater location so any problem can be easily idntified and repaired not outside to the garden joe. notice my 1st post i reffer to them as " water heaters" and you called them "HOT water heaters? wrong again joe there is no reason to heat hot water.dont believe check any literature from rheem, state,a.o smith, sears ect. the all refer to them as "water heaters" go back to the beech and smoke a doobie
@arborough Unfortunately, I do not smoke, so no heading down to the beach!!...lol You are right of course about what to really call a water heater. "hot water heater".....that's just "joe" being "joe". Maybe he should grab a doobie & clear his head! I'll have a little discussion with him & see if I can knock some sense into him. :0
@arborough It makes me laugh when guys that think they are "in the know", say there is no reason to heat hot water. I worked at a company were I needed 140 degree water but theHOT water heater was set at 120. At 120 the water IS hot, I needed it to be 140 so yes I had to heat hot water. When you make dinner, do you stop heating water before just before it boils. No but I think you would call that water hot.
@slappywhiteperch You make a very good point. Thanks again for your comments. They will come in handy anytime a viewers decides to read these comments. Joe :0
joe you scare me. not only did u not say to shut off the power 1ST before servicing witch can be fatal. u also mentiond the curved pipe that come of ( oh yea joe its a t&p not presure relief valve) BIG difference. anyway if the water get trapped on the discharge it can and will cause the t&p to seize shut. this failure can cause the" water heater" to blow thru the roof. google "water heater" explosion or watch on mythbusters
@arborough See why I don't work on water heaters much?..lol Thanks again for posting. Your comments will be beneficial to anyone who chooses to read this comment area. Joe :0
we have hot and cold water and good pressure, however, we have had a small puddle of water at the bottom of the water heater. How can we tell where it is leaking from and how to fix it? Sears said it is leaking from inside the heater, could not diagnose and just wants to replace it.
@gndrand There should be an inspection cover towards the bottom of the water heater. Open that up & see if you can find a water leak There's also a hose bib at the bottom edge of the heater. Is it leaking around there? Is the pressure relief valve leaking at all?....on top of the heater. What about the water inlet connections? You are the inspector. Get your hat on & find the leak. If it looks like it's leaking from somewhere inside the tank, it might be time to replace. How old is it? Joe :0
Hi Joe...just wondering about my valve.... When I test it it sprays from the valve as well as releasing through the pipe. If I replace the valve, will it stop the spraying (it gets all over the tankless heater cabinet)? Thanks.
@wendyteacher2 How much is your test valve spraying when you open it up? It shouldn't really spray water all over the place. How old is your system? Does it look fairly easy & accessible to get to the valve location in order to replace it? You shouldn't have a need to test the relief valve that often. If you have more questions, you could ask your friendly neighborhood hardware store & see what they have to say, next time your in. Send me more comments if need be. Thanks. Joe :0
Why is it that when someone flushes the toilet and or open a faucet while I'm taking a shower I loose hot water and have to jump out of the tub frozen????
@LUISITO60007 Not sure why this is happening to you. Do you have an electric water heater? Could one of the heating elements be burned out? Do you have full water pressure when you're taking a shower most of the time? Let me know sao I can research this for you. Joe :0
@VideoJoeKnows.. so when u wake up to an ocean on the side of ur house, does it mean ur Pressure Relief Valve is to blame?? Woke up this morning and saw an ocean of water beside my house and was told dat my pressure relief valve is bad. Not sure but Joe Knows right?
@ThurstonTsosie Is your pressure relief valve not resetting? Your pressure relief valve should close properly. If it doesn't, it's probably time to replace it. How old is your hot water heater? it might be time to replace your hot water heater with an energy efficient one. It would also lower your electricity bill....if it's electric. Thanks for your message. Joe :0
I turned it off, I got sick of his rambling on about totally unrelated issues, Who cares about the view when you are looking for advice on a hot water service.
@CarolynneT You're right. I probably should've just stuck with the issue at hand. My apologies. Listen to it again & you might get the info you needed......the last part of the video that is....not the view stuff. Thanks for your comments. I'll keep them in mind for next time I make a video. Joe :0
Good vid mate, Mine is in the roof space so might be better to get the plumber-INSURED, I put my foot through the ceiling last time, putting a jacket on the tank, haha
@catatonicable Have you seen my video, "walking around in an attic....be careful?".....? Check it out before going up there in the attic again. Thanks for looking out for me too! Joe :0
