  • That was a 750B you had then? Mine's an M but with A lines on the tank. Anth :-)

  • @828cc I'd be shocked to find this bike still alive somewhere. Last time I saw it, was back in around 1981 ish... the chap who bought it from me, I'd switched to the CX500 by then, came with us to St Tropez, south of France with us, around 6 bikes, my old Kettle being one of them. It made it there and back too only suffering a puncture, 2000 miles round trip. Haven't seen that bike since.

I loved the 3-1 and Dunstall front mud guard... Ah! happy days !! :-)

  • You should try the owners' club or DVLA to find out if it does still exist :-)

  • @828cc I did look once on DVLA, it wasn't on a SORN and it wasn't due for tax either...

I also tried writing a letter once to DVLA in reference to tracing my old CX500 with a view to buying it back if possible.

No joy there either, they just wouldn't give anything away at all.... Confidentiality they say. HUh

  • That doesn't sound too good, maybe it has gone to the breakers :-(

  • life was simple then.............

  • Dont I know it, just didn't realise back then did we...

  • recognise the 650 kwak from wg allen days, prefered my gs 550 though

  • Ok you've got one over on me now, do I know you? I must do if you know WG Allen...

More to the point I loved that Kwack... :-))

  • @Bevoin1970

ok stud, im stuart, worked (still do) on the spot welding, been back working for paul lawrence 10 years now. not long after you left i traded the550 in for a gs850. 9 thousand miles in 6 months then it was nicked by the wolvo hells angels (you try and prove it was them even with a witness!!!) i now have a 28 year old z650 must get round to rebuilding the forks though.

  • Ahh !!! Now I remember... blow me down eh?

And your still there after all these years? I so miss Allens..

Because it was where I started my working life back in August 77 I will always have a soft spot for the place.

I bet I wouldn't recognise it these days... or the people... haha

Nice story about your bike, You must send me some pics of your Kwack, I really do miss my old green one...

Im chuffed I've spoken to you... :-))

  • Ooo my this is hitting the ol memory cells alright.. Stay bright.

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed a few classics... :-))

  • Some classic tunes and bikes. Roughly the same age as you. Great times. Cheers for this.

  • Thank you, wish I could turn the clock back and re do all this, with a modern digital camera. Some of those bikes today are worth a fortune. Thanks for watching. I loved the 1970's

  • Love the music, love the bikes. My first bike was a 1985 Honda Nighthawk 450

  • Thank you, Was a brilliant period in my younger life, sadly missed now Im older and more mature lets say.... :-)

  • Hey Paul, I must be your North London/South Herts cousin! Love the bikes and music, not many pictures of my youth unfortunately as an apprentice I couldn't afford to run a girlfriend a bike and a camera! My last bike was a Triumph Bonneville 650, with reverse cone (hence my username) megas - know one could ever say I crept up on them!

  • Hello Bro!, My mate in the photos had a 125 Honda with a Mega, my dad used to go mad at him, making so much noise.. ha ha. Very happy days for me, left school in 77 had all those bikes you saw over next few years or so. Then got married :-(

I was an apprentice Toolmaker and always skint, not much changed today thinking about it.. ha ha Had a triumph Bath Tub job once, bloody uncle sold it after I managed to rescue it. Otherwise never had British iron...

  • nice one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4*

  • Thanks, if only I could go back and jump on my GT750 one more time !!! Such happy days for me !

  • Nice GT Chap ;)

  • Seems even nicer since I dont own it any more ! Wish I could get her back........

  • now theres a bike!!

  • Which bike do you like the best ?

  • definatly the cx a guy around my area has a uk imported one 1981 and it looks and sounds fantastic, i remamber getting a lift on one years ago and i nearly fell off the back the take off was so powerful!!

  • Ah very good bike. Me and my mate ( red one ) had many a laugh on ours. I went to St Tropez south of France, with five other dif bikes including my old Suzuki Kettle. My blue CX was the only bike on that journey which was trouble free..... Top speed 110mph very good handling once tyres got warm !! could easily grind footpegs on the road and often did, however was considered a Grandad bike back in late 1970's. It had to go when I got overtook by a Yamaha 350LC two up and I couldn't keep up.Ha Ha
