This isn't so bad of a video. I'm usually harsh to these expertvillage crapfests, but hell, I didn't even know you could throw like that. This guy is clear and to the point. I see nothing wrong with this video.
wait, wt trees is this guy talking about, pretty sure he just threw it on perfectly flat ground with really low cut grass. Not exactly what you usually see on courses
Dude, hate to tell ya, but neither of those grips or releases are "scoobies". I've been playing disc golf and double disc court (DDC) and Ultimate since 1976, and never once have I heard/seen those grips referred to as a scoobie. See Gregg Hosfeld's video on the subject if you want to see what a scoobie really is.

the company who makes these vids must be really poor the best disc golf instuctors they could get is an amature guys who throw straight into the ground and a guy without a fuckin leg!!
You don't have to throw the disk upside down to get it to slide, I just did what he was talking about today without holding the disk upside down, I feel that wouldn't be a comfortable throw.
Hey Pat, the shot you demonstrated is useful. But, the name you were referring to is "scoober", which is actually gripped EXACTLY the same as a right side up backhand. The arm curls UPWARD above the same shoulder and rolls outward to deliver a roller or UD. Ask any DDC player. Ultimate players often erroneously call the UD two finger a scoober too. Don't want to sound snotty. Just want to relay history before it becomes too muddled.
THANK YOU! I was going to make the same point. Having learned the scoober in 1976 and as one of the foremost users of the throw in DDC (7 world championships- 4 open and 3 masters), I too want to keep the nomenclature intact and historically accurate. So, thank you again.
Can't really see where the disc went, or how flat it flew, or how much airtime it has to be given (or denied) in order to work right -- the video quality is not good enough. I imagine that if you hang this throw in the air too long, an edge will drop and you'll wind up digging in, right?
You can see the first throw pretty well. It slid right under the basket. Just throw it flat and low. It doesn't need much airtime. The whole point is to slide it on it's top side.
Patrick kitten doing the scooby shot. Ha

your best bet would be to throw the disc with your back to the basket, standing on one hand. that kind of shot is called a shaggy
calvinchristopher03 1 year ago
That's a long putt shot not a scobee. The trees were farther on, what trees did it slip under? WTF?

That's not a scooby. A scooby is a kind of roller shot. I've heard this shot called a grenade.

I use this shot to get out of tight spots in the woods when the only hole is by my feet.
andyb4784 4 years ago
Is this used just for approach shots?
weezerpinkerton 4 years ago
Yes it's just an approach shot. Works really well when laying up downhill and you want to make sure it doesn't pick up and roll down past the basket.
