  • let me be the first one to ask this....uhhh...er... where is the snow???!! :p

  • @anurek123 the murders happened in snowtown

  • @davidharburg oh, thanks! i overlooked that fact. this movie is pretty tough to watch. but the level of acting is stupendous!!

  • MINIMAL VIOLENCE!?...IV JUST WATCHED IT AND IT SHOWS HIM PULLING TOE NAILS OUT...

  • crazy story that happened a family member very close to me was in school with one of the main killers and my parents lived near where it all took place in salisbury

  • Take it!

  • This looks a-maaaazing.

  • This film will blow your mind, and leave you sitting in your chair for an hour after emotionally drained.

    It is brilliant.

  • A mate was staying over and told me he wanted to watch Snowtown, so we rented it. It was MA +15 but the content was definitely R rated. It was a well made movie but the content is just, well, fucked. e.g incest anal rape (brother rapes brother :\) sadistic torture (you get to see pliers crush and pull off a toe nail bit by bit). I wasn't expecting it at all, and if I saw it at the movies I would have walked out. 5/10

  • @GameGeyser You do realise that the content of the movie wasn't really their choice... all of that is based on a true story, I haven't actually seen it but the things you described there did actually happen, you can take it up with John Bunting if you don't like it.

  • @jeudithursday I didn't have much of a problem with the content. It was fucked up (if you don't think its fucked up you need to see a doctor) but it was showing what happened so it wasn't so bad. The main thing is it got by with a MA 15+ rating... Iv'e seen R 18+ movies that are way less gruesome and disturbing. I think the only way it scraped into 15+ was by the fact its based on a true story, otherwise it would be 18+ or refused classification. It tricks people with the 15+, thats all.

  • @GameGeyser Sorry I didn't understand that was what you meant. I probably shouldn't have said anything because I haven't actually seen the movie (I'm not 15 yet) but I was in a bad mood and I was getting annoyed at pretty much anything, sorry.

  • I wish I could find a picture of the real Vlassalakis, I'm curious what he looks like

  • @danthrplgst you might already know but in case you don't there is a court order to stop any pictures getting out

  • feel good movie of the year

  • Just watched it - not as great as everyone is raving about. Unless you are looking up the actual details of the series of murders, or you know the case inside and out - it's just arty bullshit. Ok, that's harsh - it's ok, but it tried SO hard to be 'artistic' it was getting annoying and one had to read Wikki to make out who died, who was in on it, who the tapes were of etc. 4/10 Don't get too excited people - Wolf Creek is a million times better!

  • that dude looks like zch galifanakis in hangover 2

  • @reeloui What are you talking about? I live in Los Angeles, work in the "industry", and The Aussies are CLEARLY, my strides and margins, making some of the best films in the world. The Neo-Noirs coming out of there as of late are incredible and setting the bar quite high. I love what you're doing.

  • He looks exactly like a chubby Edawrd Norton.

  • Not really a fan of dramatization of serials murderers - i think the more of this sort of media and other television shows, the easier it becomes for people to fictionalize and enjoy such event. I don't think too many people'd watch a movie about a serial mugger because mugging is common, not extraordinary/horrific and therefore not 'entertaining' to watch. With so much attention it feels almost like we are serial killers into 'celebrities'.

  • Damn, who knows when the hell this'll make its way to Canada.

  • These South Australian Tourism campaigns are getting rather morbid...

  • typical making weirdo murderers superstars,, the day this stops and they take away that fame they will end up a rotten old man in prision like the rest of the dead heads,, but hey you all just make them heroes..

  • @MrConners70

Rofl, this film exemplifies the depravity and descent of the human condition. It doesn't glorify the killers in ANY way, and trying to say so is just ignorant.

  • I can only recomend that more US-citizens take a vaccation in Adelaide and it's friendly little suburbs ... for example, when I came back and travelled through Downtown Detroit, I saw so much beauty that I had never noticed before: the kind, honest faces, the high level of literacy, fine speech and manners, the striving economy all around and absence of crime or drug-abuse around!

Same goes for Chicago and Atlanta ...

  • just watched this film. it was fucking confronting and so powerful it was ridiculous. but oh my god it was good. you must see it. but its not for the faint hearted.

  • I fucking love John Bunting. It's a pity Australia's Dexter Morgan was caught. I have to admit, this movie was very inspiring.

  • @veineum

Sure you do buddy, you would of shit yourself infront of him.

  • @kaniSS1 No, I would become his loyal follower.

  • @noirkitten Nigga I'll kick you in your nuts!!

  • At 1:18

    Keanu Reeves.

  • @WellOfWisdom well no

  • oooohh, australian crime film! good to see something new out there. keep up the good work fuckers, (shame is the performances look really great. what a waste)

  • @phin68 I wouldn't be complaining though. For some unknown reason, Australian filmmakers are only really successful when they are making depressing films like this, usually crime stories. Our comedies are pretty awful.

  • @sestsa i regret my negative comment, I'm australian, i was sick of seeing the "the castle" regurgitated every time the opportunity came up as well... i miss the glory days of australian cinema, I think the aussie battler/ underworld australia is dead. lets move on, lets evolve. universal world, there a bigger themes and issues to explore... NEW WAVE AUSTRALIAN CINEMA 2012 here we come!

  • @phin68 I don't think crime will ever really die in Australian film. It's a unique brand of subtle suburban crime film that is as much about lower middle class Australia as it is about crime. It's not like Australian crime films are ever really glamorous action films or slick thrillers. I would like a second new wave though (I think it must be coming cause the amount of quality films seems to be on the rise). In the meantime, I'll take any films that are good.

  • @phin68 In other words: Crocodile Dundee Part 4 or a Mad Max remake ...

  • I am from Holland and I´m looking for the torrent to download this film. I don´t think it will be in theaters in europe. Could anyone tell me if there is a download available?

    Thakns!

  • has anyone seen the doco on crime channel, utterly frightening I was shaking

  • This movie is sick and disgusting! It is the closet to a snuff movie you will ever see!

  • @CrysisNerd

    What are you, Richard Wilkins?

  • I watched the documentary for this like years back and I was horrified by what they did... it was something along the lines of taking a skinny young lad and injecting him with water and electrocuting his testicles in till he died and so acid and barrels came in handy...

    sick fucks

  • This movie is brilliant. There is minimal violence, hardly any blood, it puts all slasher movies to shame. Its so very disturbing and thats acheived not by gore or blood. But by the acting and the music. Its how is should be done. It just feels so real and so disturbing. Even in the most greusome scenes its not the actual violence that is the most disturbing its the acting.

  • So is this movie worth watching?

  • Yes, you are clearly right, particularly about yourself being a mindless bogan. Although you forgot to add, how you're also an overreactive, volatile, foul mouthed bogan.

  • Yes, you are clearly right, particularly about yourself!

  • this movie is SHIT! the director of this film has basically taken what could've been a great film and fucked it up!! the movie spends so much time showing john in the kitchen cooking up slop for the boys and not focusing on the storyline. they just drop characters in from nowhere and expect the audience to know what the fuck is going on. very messy and poorly executed film. they try to shock you with the torture scenes but fail miserably.

  • Your right about the movie, although it's unfortunate you seem to only be disappointed that you weren't shocked in the torture scenes! ....Interesting!!

  • @walkinpimp, you have missed the point of the film entirely. they weren't trying to 'shock' you with torture scenes, that is why there were barely any of them in the film. the reason they showed john with the family building up relationships with the boys and their mother is because THAT is what the film is about, not the murders. they wanted to show us HOW this all happened, not just kill kill kill. it's an expository psychological drama, not a horror flick. come on.

  • @gracelizabethh no i didn't miss anything. you seem to have missed my point. my argument is that this film was poorly executed considering they had a true story with so much 'movie' material to work with and yet they piece together something this pathetic? i wasnt after a 'horror' flick, i was after a movie with a decent storyline. expository psychological drama? that's being a bit generous don't you think? considering that it chroniclised the events of this story so poorly. pppffft. refund pls.

  • @walkinpimp Why are you such a fucking troll? If you're going to critisize a film, then give a fucking example with what you felt was lack-luster instead of labeling it shit.

  • @jedidude04 ok cunt, how about the fact that john's character just mystically appears at the start without the slightest reference as to who the fuck he is? or who the hell is that guy helping john with the murders? where the hell did that old cunt with the beard appear out of and why is he all of a sudden part of the killings? this movie fails to link characters and establish relationships between ppl. to ppl that don't know the story of the snowtown murders, this movie would just be confusing.

  • fuckin' housos

  • the critics are saying not to go see this film BUT you should. it sends a message of how fucken twisted, mentally FUCKED humans can be and the movie only shows

1/10th of the truth . read the book find out what they did to those people.. they thought fucken sheep in there backyard was fucken normal. some fucked people out there!

  • @aidske For some places in Australia, sheep in the backyard is perfectly normal, you ignoramus. Presumably, by 'some fucked people out there,' you're referring to Australia, enforcing your ignorance. Finally, I believe you should acquaint yourself with a grammar-check - the word you were searching for in the sentence of 'they thought sheep in there backyard,' is actually 'their.'

    Please don't breed.

  • @MsChynaJay mate your a dickhead why you backing up these cunts. i am a true pure aussie, born here you dumb fuck i love aussie and im just saying how THE SNOWTOWN MURDERS were so fucked up in their heads to do that shit. IF YOU READ THE BOOK AND READ THE LEAKED STORIES they had sheep in their backyard and fucked them AND they believed that that was normal.

  • just saw the movie, it was sicko, but brilliant. great acting, highly reccomend to anyone interested in the snowtown murders

  • Even this trailer creeps the fuck out of me. I don't know why but I want to watch this movie and see just how freaked out I get. On a scale of 1 to 10 of how freaked ill be I think it ill be brown pants out of 10.

  • Is that the guy from the "I'll tell you where to go..." ads?

Never watching them the same again

  • Thats my brother! :')

  • @katelovessummer09 which one?

  • @Tarrant1976 Jamie, the main actor.

  • Haha, I think these bleak, blue-tinted crime films are our specialty. Same with raw rock n roll from the gutter. Not that we cant have a diversity of styles, but every country has its own little niche.

  • @PogueModel You have a point Romper Stomper and Chopper certainly fit that description

  • for some reason i remember that story covered from the news over here as well probably because Jamie was Greek relatived or something! I can wait to check this movie as well

  • truth is we are a country of villains and migrants our "heros" are crooks and our cinema is truthful and brutal. what else Can you expect from a country that has committed genocide for 200 years. Im disrespecting my own land australia is amazing but this is the grit of it all this is what we are.

  • @connwilliamsmedia pffft. wanker.

  • @connwilliamsmedia

The last 200 years? So you're saying we're committing active Geneocide now as well? Welll I didn't know that, sounds like someone else doesn't recognise that are a lot of people in this country trying to reconcile as well. But hey, don't let that stand in the way of being a supreme idiot.

  • @connwilliamsmedia i think you go a bit far, I would have just thought that bad news makes the news so it would be the same for movies... some people like the american good man always win in the end. This is just the other end of the spectrum based on true events.

  • Good point being made that we make a lot of these bleak, suburban crime dramas... but they're very rarely this good. Caught 'Snowtown' tonight at a screening by The Monthly and had the breath knocked out of me. Superb performances, incredibly disciplined and ambitious direction... and faultless craft all round. More like this please Australian film industry.

  • Ooooooontz

  • This looks good, but I'm sick to fucking death of my country being represented as mindless criminal bogans on film. Oh wait hang on, most of us are mindless criminal bogans. Shit.

  • @reeloui i agree with the first part

  • @reeloui Somehow I doubt it's "your country", judging by your DP.

  • @Nitruix Uhh I was born here, in Australia, I guess that makes me umm let me see, AUSTRALIAN then?

  • @reeloui White skin suggests that it is not your country.

  • @Nitruix you've got a good point there, I didn't want to imply that I own the country though, lol

  • @reeloui really? haha, I havent noticed besides Ned Kelly of course

  • @reeloui and youre really helping with that statement

  • @wheels1747 I'm just stating the truth. Most Australians are of convict descent, it's a fact of our history we can't hide!

  • @reeloui You realise that at most only one in four Australians are descended from convicts, right? That's hardly a majority.

  • @reeloui Don't be ashamed that you descend from the dregs of humanity, degenerated convicts, worth nothing in the old countries, less in the new one and who's only means to bolster their self-esteem is to booze, rape, sniff petrol and spout obscenities at harmless, semi-naked abos ... think of the good things! Think how it makes us over here feel ... MUCH, MUCH BETTER, THANK YOU! LOL!

  • @fenriz218 congrats, tossbag

  • @reeloui I object to the "bogan" part. *grins maniacally*

  • @reeloui haha well basically all the australlian films ive seen have been true crime films like this one, chopper, animal kingdom, ned kelly, the underbelly series, and the proposition(dont no if thats true), all fucking great tho

  • @reeloui then change it´s politics - begin by removing that ´it´s illegal not to vote´so that people in Australia can vote any time they want or choose no longer to.

  • @reeloui especially when ya take into account that this is a true story, all details are on wiki if ya wanna take a look,he was proper off his hed mate.

  • @reeloui look it up on here-Serial Killers-The bodies in the Barrels, really good documentary-Bunting was a sick bstard.

  • fuck uplifting, i want chilling and memorable.

  • Yet another Gritty Australian Crime Drama™

  • Fuck you, Australian Cinema. Produce something uplifting for once! Fuck me.

  • @smedley haha - yep. bring back the castle!

  • @littleredsausagedog YES YES YES! Anything but this miserable crap. Why are we so bleak? It's fucked.

  • @littleredsausagedog I mean, I'm sure it's a fantastic movie- but, man, I have seen it too many times. Know what I mean?

  • keening up for this. Sends chills down my spine, being a South Australian and all.

  • Oh wow, this is going to be a great movie. This whole Snowtown story has played a big role in my life, as they found bodies where I use to live just a few km's away and it was linked to the same people! Really looking forward to this!

  • I thought this movie sounded fantastic and I was looking forward to seeing it until I heard in a review that there was an absolutely horrific scene where an animal is... hurt.....to say the least. And now I don't think I could watch it. :(

  • @ragan29 So you're looking forward to watching a movie that deals with some of the worst behaviour that a human can perpetrate against another human, but you refuse to watch because there is an off chance a poor widdle animal could be hurt.... awwwwwwww.

  • @ragan29 So you're looking forward to watching a movie that deals with some of the worst behaviour that a human can perpetrate against another human, but you refuse to watch because there is an off chance a poor widdle animal could be hurt.... awwwwwwww.

  • @ElvisandCash I think we all know how desensitized people are to murder in movies. It makes me more sick to think about people hurting something innocent and loyal. People are assholes. Yourself being example A.

  • @ragan29 Maybe I shouldn't tell you whats in those barrels at the end.

  • looks uplifting

  • @BigDefMuter82 hahaaa

  • LOL i played footy there today! anndddd drove past the bank.. all bolted up!

  • Looks amazing - can't wait to see this on May 19

  • Aussie cinema smashes another one out of the park.....this looks feking brillaint!

  • Bogantown.

  • australia every now and again has a movie that comes out that is a masterpiece THANKYOU againnnnn

  • FLETCHER LEHMANN get ready for our man date.

  • Can't wait for this. Looks great - in a similar vein to animal kingdom, the boys.

  • Anyone knows the name of the music btw ?

  • Those Aussies are kicking some serious Neo Noir ass the past few years. I love it.

  • Wow...having read several books on this topic I can say that this looks to be an unforgettable film.
