Does anybody know what happened to this car?? I remember seeing a picture somewhere of a crashed 70 model M/T mach1 and I always wandered if that was the same car that had been possibly updated to a 70 model?
Sad that Nascar banned the Ford Cammer (at the request of Chrysler) never even allowing it to run! And then NHRA banning it later, after it kicked the shit out of Mopar's and GM's for some years. Bunch of whinning maggots! Sorry, it just pisses me off! Who knows what the Ford Cammer would have been, had it been more developed through the years..
I had the unique opportunity to see this Car Run several passes At Kansas City International Raceway In 1969. I was 16 and Had Just Gotten My Drivers License. I was Driving My Next Door Neighbors 1957 Chevrolet 2 Door Post 150 Sedan with a 283 V8, 2 Four Barrel Carburetors Muncie Wide Ratio Four Speed transmission and 5.56 to 1 Positraction Rear Gears. ran a 15.11 Quarter Mile That Same Day
There was 2 of these cars 1 for the east coast one for the west Henry Harrison drove these cars for Mickey also he lives just down the road from me. Henry had the top speed record in funny car and dragster in the same year only one that can say that . Henry sold John Force his first funny car and ran aa fuel altereds also
I own the orriginal Top Fuel, dry deck blower manifold from Mickey Thompsons funny Car.
I also own two Cammers, an early 1964 lash cap engine, with second generation heads, and an Arias / Shelby big bore option aluminum block with Bill Coon heads.
Wow! That was awesome!!! I was 16 back then & I spent a lot of time at the track watching the funny cars. My favorites were MT's Mach1 & Tommy Grove's Mach 1. Both were SOHC powered & yeah, you had better hold your ears!

they cut Dannys prediction at the end that one day a car would run a 4 sec quarter. People made fun of him for saying that but just look now.
