  • And you would be wrong leadsolo. Until a few years ago, Incredible Adventures, the sponsor of the program, flew the Mig 25 Foxbat. Now retired, they have replaced it with the Mig 29.

  • I thought it was a MiG-21 too. The windscreen is almost the same,plus that funky cockpit color. I know the -25 doesn't have GREAT visibility, but the MiG-21 is worse.

  • These "tourist" Mig 25's are old trainers with a student seat up front. Again, I've never been in a Mig 21 and can't say what that cockpit is like but visibility in this plane was quite good. Or maybe I thought so because I was so overwhelmed with the whole flight.

  • @Wmatthies -Yeah, I've seen the twin-seat MiG-25's before. Not only kind of funny looking, but they were a bit different from most trainers in that the second cockpit was added in FRONT of the normal one, replacing the radar system. The student still sat in the forward cockpit, but he was a bit forward of where he would sit in an operational fighter. The visibility isn't bad for a civil plane, but for a fighter jet, it's not great. Did you try to look BEHIND you at all? LOL.

  • Errico, not sure I understand your question. If you are asking if the visibility was bad . . . it was quite good.

  • I think he wants to know if you have a wide field of view in that MiG21 sitting in your chair or if it's very restricted, somewhat like in an old ME109 ;-)

    Just for the record, it's a Mig 25. I've never been in a 21 and can't comment on how similar they are.

  • To ARVT3 and PsuPepperoni, to clarify what I said in earlier posts, I am not a pilot. Just a guy who could afford to go to Russia and fly in the front seat of a Mig 25 whose sole purpose was to get to 80K feet. They let me "fly" it but only at elevation safe enough to correct whatever errors I made.

    As to the bad comments; that doesn't bother me. But I did want to remind those who get too wound up to think about what they say.

  • Flyby is never used unless requesting an inspection from the tower. And quite frankly, I can't understand how anyone would get confused unless you were just plain ignorant.

  • Look douchebag, I can't believe you keep coming back and sticking your foot in your mouth. VASIs, PAPIs and ILS glodeslopes are what I'll follow before I make every approach one that's capable of reaching the runway with an engine out. I'm glad you can't fly. Your formulas will REALLY fuck things up if you try them in an aircraft with high wing loading.

As if you're not screwed if you have a failure at the outer marker on glideslope? I've never called the tower to request a FLYBY FLYBY, but I do with low approaches all the time. I can't believe you said all that shit. Noone means any offense to your ability to maintain a physical, we don't want you spreading bullshit though.

    I can not read Chinese, but I do speak four languages and regret that I can in fact analyze a corporation's annual reports.

    I hope you can appreciate my inclination as a pilot to clarify the meaning of terminology related to aviation.

  • I don't know but doubt it is the Russian air force. The company I booked with in the US is Incredible Adventures but I don't know who their deal is with.

  • No but we did come in low and purposely "buzz" the field climbing up and out to the left over a nearby freeway on a previous pass. Just the sort of thing you could not do in the US.
