As an ex-military member, CS gas isn't too bad. The grenade is worse than the chamber and tablet, but the after-effects are awesome. Breathed clear and crisp for the next few days. Would volunteer to do it again.
Do ALL police departments have this requirement? Or only certain ones? Because I don't even live in the city where flags bangs or watever would be used.
@joewillgo From what I know, most academies do not use CS gas as a part of the training curriculum, but almost all academies will use OC spray instead, which a lot of people feel is worse, because CS gas effects wear off very quickly, but OC spray reactivates with water, sweat, etc, and is hard to get rid of for a day or so after.
Also, taser training is usually required. As in, getting tazed.

I am Native American, and I want to be a police officer! But this shit seems really hard. I just want to help people and try to make their daily lives as safe as possible, I'm going to start training for this particular academy...If it's still an option!
@kleck9 Same here, I plan on applying this year afer school, and if cops are pussies why do they contribute to the community, although some cops do make a bad examples I plan on making it up by setting better choices. They only have to do it once, so its pretty simple. If you bench for a month or so, you'd be able to bench your own weight. I benched 140 pounds of my weight easily which is 94% of my weight

The first Recruit was incorrect about the exposure to gas. OC and CS are different. They were exposed to CS in the first part of the video. OC is sprayed in the face/eyes.

They only have to do it once, so its pretty simple. If you bench for a month or so, you'd be able to bench your own weight. I benched 140 pounds of my weight easily which is 94% of my weight

The first Recruit was incorrect about the exposure to gas. OC and CS are different. They were exposed to CS in the first part of the video. OC is sprayed in the face/eyes.
