@pixelbind Yes. Just like being stronger gives one an advantage as well. The goal is to increase your Tai Chi skill to the point where you're able to neutralize advantages like this (like actually become disadvantages over time if a person relies on them). Google or search YouTube for Black Horse Tai Chi. More videos and whatnot there.
im confused...isnt it suppose to be pushing hands? not grappling o__o dont they usually push push push then execute a push or pull at the right time? rather than go straight into a bear hug
@Belphybear There are a lot of different competitions with a lot of different rules. This one was... Hands touching (a certain way), referee says START and you're off! I personally like the rougher rule set, than the "micro managed" ones I've seen clips of on the web. This is how they do it in China/Asia and they're the ones who came up with it, so... ;)
Good stuff... just watched a few of your videos. It's cool seeing somebody that is into MMA/Jiu Jitsu and also training in Taiji. Not many people are willing to see how well they go together. Keep it up.
This is Tai chi? I thought TC was all about relaxing and breathing. Some skills there MTK! Also how do you have the time to view all comments for all videos, its crazy! Thats dedication.
The first clip was moving step. The second part, yeah the rules might be different. They basically give points to the person whose feet move last (if ever.)
Show me someone that does pushhands with "style" and I'll show you someone that's gonna lose. ;) Really though, being able to "stylishly" deflect an attack is some really high level shit, and even then it doesn't look that stylish. I've met 2 people that I've been impressed with. Both were over 50. I have a long way to go...
On the scene of fixed step push hands. The winner is average but still lack song. From looking we can see the stiffness when under attack. He shld forget about self and dont worry too much of the pushes, as long as one can sink and with loose shoulders and waist no push will be effective. Also must brush-up fajin. Let it be suddenly appear and suddenly dissappear then his skill will be a step higher.
Yes, easier said than done. We all have to walk before running (and crawl before that.) It's funny the number of Taiji practicioners that like to talk the talk, but can't walk the walk (let alone crawl it.)
I'm a bit curious. Wouldn't you have an advantage if you have a large mass and somewhat short. So you have a a lower center of gravity?

nice video, thanks for sharing.

There is so much "chi" being harnessed in that room right now. Chuck Norris, Steven Segal and Jean Claude van Damme wouldn't even step foot in there.

though it seems you have some skills, i saw too much soving and attack and not enough sensing/redirection .
though you clearly did more of that then your opponent in that clip. congrat's btw

Yeah, that's Taichi. Taichi is GANGSTER, it's just that most people don't know it's true potential.
miltownkid 3 years ago
Haha nice one, but next time could you try throwing in some fancy moves. Seems like the same story over and over. Mix it up a bit :)
BSPrince 4 years ago
:) That's EXACTLY what Taichi is all about! The same story over and over again worked to perfection. :)

from what i see you don't get points for a lot of your wins or are the rules different from Wudang tai chi? (talking Fixed step)
since you move your feet
