  • gr8 shoegaze feels

  • Life is so futile :(

  • Soccer AM brought me here!

  • I'm so happy I saw them on Carson Daly Last Call! I their sound and I only regret not finding out about them sooner!

  • T in the Park :)

  • this song makes me smile :-)

  • This is not the horrors I remember from 07' what happened? Although it's peachy it's just a complete 180 there with this. The Cure flashbacks anyone?

  • @Beforeyouandme Yeah, they've certainly changed a lot. But, The Cure changed a lot too, didn't they? I really the fact that they're trying new sounds, it shows how much they've grown as a band.

  • @Beforeyouandme YES totally reminds me of the cure! But you cant lie this song is awesome. Its that whole 80's feel. btw im 16!

  • If anybody mentions Kony on here....

  • ЕБАТЬ КАК Я ЛЮБЛЮ STILL LIFE!

  • Oh god, these guys have matured so much since their debut lp....

  • Yeah....I like this. It's good. Singer looks like Ian McCulloch out of Echo and Bunnymen. British music is best anyway. Way better than Aussie music. How can you write deep and meaningful songs under a palm tree on a beach. Rain and gloom mean you're inside rehearsing and writing. I mean, the Smiths could never have come from fucking Sydney, could they?

  • peng.

  • P.S: The NME is shite

  • @thomo1888 ur shite

  • Saw these last night and fell in love!

  • just saw these guys supporting Florence and the machine - felt like we were in the 80's!

  • LLLLLLAAAAAAAAATTTTIIIIITTTTTTTTTUUUUUUUDDDDDDEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DMORLEY96 lol, latitude... try going to a decent festival... like T in the Park, where these guys are hardly worth mentioning. No disrespect to the band tho... they are fantastic :D and I will most certainly be seeing them at TITP 2012!

  • @alexherrington Latitude line up trumps T in the park and this is coming from someone going to T.

  • LATITUDE 2012.

  • sounds like divine comedy and simple minds

  • Comment removed

  • the singer is an alien prophet

  • its obviously about ufos!!??

  • sounds like divine comedy :P

  • the people who have disliked this song send me a inbox, i have a can of gasoil and a few matches to spare

  • This would have been a good tune in 1989 ....

  • why do new bands always have to sound just lik "one band and another band"

they just sound like the horrors, and that seems fine to me

  • @tisjeboyaelwyn Yeah totally agree.

  • @tisjeboyaelwyn people like to make connections because if there is no relation to anything else it takes a lot more for people to accept them as good, but if they can relate them to something they like its easier for them to like, human psyche and all

  • @tisjeboyaelwyn Well, they don't have to. It's their choice.

  • when you wake up, when you wake up, you will find me

  • sounds like my farts

  • @acrosstheuniverseny Oh, really? Then your ass is super talented! Send him my congratulations

  • @BlondiEmilio you don't even know. it's heaven listening to them.

  • One of the few bands out today that don't sound like the Arctic Monkeys or Arcade Fire. Good stuff.

  • @SuperQweertyuiop what other bands sound like arcade fire? they're in a league of their own...

  • @midnitehghway MGMT, The Big Pink, pretty much everything in the NME really, to make a long story short :P

  • @SuperQweertyuiop i'm sorry maybe it's just my ears but MGMT sound absolutely nothing like arcade fire. MGMT sounds similar to foster the people, M83 (a bit), crystal castles, phoenix, passion pit, the naked and famous.. they all have a synthy feel. arcade fire sounds way more organic.

  • @midnitehghway My point still stands - There just isn't enough creativity in Indie music these days. It's grown stale. It's less about 'what you sound like' and more about 'what you look like'; just bands following trends about how to look and how to sound.

  • @SuperQweertyuiop this is true.

  • Their old stuff is good, their new stuff is good... They're just too damn good!!!

  • 122 people don't know what good music sounds like

  • great song very cool band . does anyone know how to get a hold of the band i want to use this song for a film i am making .. let me know. if u know them ..

  • @thechapugos Go on their facebook and get contact info...

  • post punk is crap

  • masih hidup

  • i want pizza

  • @madlenxhaha and cock

  • So fucking excited to see these guys at Florence on Friday in Dublin

  • The Horrors <3

  • Love this song . . .and how the sun turns into a phosphene (what you see when you rub your eyes really hard)

  • I love this band because they re-invent themselves in every record they put out but they always sound amazing and they always sound like the Horrors.

  • Why are they supporting Florence + The Machine? This band is shite!! They will ruin her concert!!

  • luv this

  • @vampdude788 not half as much as your old girl

  • luv this song

  • Please play this video like it

  • I'm planning on making lyricsvideos for all the songs on Skying.

    I just uploaded Wild Eyes.

If you're curious then go to my channel.

    :)

  • mmmmmm Trendy!

  • This shit sucks. Listen to The Jesus and Mary Chain, they're much better, infact they're the best band ever. The future sucks, throw all new music in the toilet. Why listen to regurgitated crap?

  • @ieatorbs way to be progressive dude

  • @TTW107 how can music progress? Really. We should invent new instruments already, and use more saxaphone in rock music, because it's awesome. And we need better male singers, with more original sounding voices.

  • The Horrors turn gay ---as hell. They should have just changed their name, haircuts, and sold their souls right off the bat. BAT.

  • DIVINE .....THE BEST SONG OF THE YEAR!!!

  • sounds like the the smiths and the doors and the cure.. . a little bit of each rolled together

  • @phianinja13 maybe a little cold play in there too

  • The Clarences love & support The Horrors!

  • wow this is fucken rad<3

  • I think this is pretty origanal..compared to most music videos now days..good music vid

  • I think that this song is RLY gud and i fink tht i liek chez buwgews.

  • Faris Badwan reminds me a bit of Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke... possible influence?

  • i think this is a bit bland... maybe it's cause primary colours was so fucking good..

  • Jim Morrison was also a fake shaman, a complete disgrace to psychonauts everywhere.

  • Jim Morrison was a cunt!

  • It's a crime against society to reach THIS level of epicness. Man, what a song by The Horrors.

  • Simple Minds - special view 1979. THE influence

  • @ebenezorhowerd Haha clint boon did everything first though mate

  • why did this make me want to cry....

  • if you like the horrors maybe you should check out likely lads for some more god saving british music lol :)

  • Don't really get The Doors comparison personally.

Always thought they sounded a lot like The Sound.

  • I was talking to Mr Horror on the phone earlier and I mentioned this to him. He was silent for a bit and then just hung up. I don't know what that means, but I know what it sounds like.

  • Singer sounds like Jim Morrison of The Doors

The glitchy guitar riff resembles "The End" by The Doors.

"The End" was used in the film Apocalypse Now.

The introductory footage of the sun in this video closely resembles the cover of the Apocalypse Now DVD.

Any musician worth his salt should recognise the harmonic similarities between this song and The End.

The last line in Apocalypse Now was "The horror... The horror..."

This song is the culmination of one band's tribute to their favourite film.

  • @petetheweet jeSUS

  • @petetheweet or to their favourite song ever ?

  • @petetheweet You...fucking.... genius ! i love the doors and the horrors and i couldnt even recognize that lol

  • @petetheweet Not Morrison much more like Modern English album After the Snow. Jim was Baritone. But the rythum iz rite.

  • @petetheweet I guess you are not worth your salt then.

  • @jewsarenotcool I believe my 42 thumbs up + your opinion make you the one with questionable salt value.

  • @petetheweet I believe my masters degree in sound engineering trumps your 42 likes.

  • @petetheweet And why cant I have a Masters are 21?

  • @jewsarenotcool You can, it's just impressive. Anyway back to your original comment that I'm not worth my salt: Can you explain how a degree in sound engineering qualifies you as a musician worth his salt?

  • @petetheweet I didn't have a gap year. My comment was using your words to show my opinion of you being wrong. The End has no structure. The Horrors are hipsters so any effect they have on their video is because they wanted to make it look vintage, rather than like agent orange in Apocalypse Now. I cant hear the harmonic similarities at all. Nether can my father. The vocals sound similar.

  • @jewsarenotcool This is where a masters in music might come in handy for you. Try not to think of my statement about the harmonic similarities in a broad sense, rather more like infrequent interactions between the chords and vocals that loosely resemble those of The End. You know when you hear Don't Look Back In Anger and think "that sounds like Pachabel's Canon"? Kind of like that, only not to do with chords.

  • @petetheweet Sound Engineering*. I don't hear any infrequent chords in Still life at all. Seriously, its as if you have not even heard The End. The vocals sound similar. The dynamics are different and the duration is very different. Two pieces of serialism are more alike then these two songs. And serialism is random but just has rules applied to it. And I don't think what you thing with Cannon either.

  • @jewsarenotcool Cant we all just love :(

  • @petetheweet that's a retarded comparison.

  • @LeBuav What an interesting opinion from an 18 year old who can drive and makes the odd movie now and then. My comment has 55 thumbs up, so statistically that isolates you. My advice, young one, is to open your ears to possibilities instead of instantly debasing them at the whim of your raging, pubescent hormones. Now piss off.

  • @petetheweet oh my god you are such a loser

  • @LeBuav it's called interpretation; understanding what something means to you, so of course it's not going to be the same as someone else's opinion. Art is subjective - it means different things to different people - clearly the references listed by @petethetweet mean something to 55 people

  • @therubiorubio Arguing with teenagers on the internet has so far been the highlight of my day, so yes, yes I am.

  • @petetheweet How can you say such an outrageous thing? The singer sounds nothing like Morrison, and the guitar riff sounds nothing! like the end. If Jim were still here, he'd actually punch you.

  • @Scaredmushrooms Haters gonna hate

  • @petetheweet Thanks for enlightening us. Next week, gravity......

  • Bliss.

  • British music is the best.

And I'm sad that I'm not British.

  • <3

  • oooohhh eel video esta muy buuenisimo!

  • 114 people are blind and deaf

  • :D

  • I love this but I liked them more when they where more punk...

  • terrible song ! (hnusná pieseň (in slovak language))

  • @matahata1 well you can fuck off.

  • @BatmansCounselor haha. say what ya mean man! :)

  • FUYEAH SEE YOU AT LANEWAY '12 SINGAPORE

  • No se lo que dice pero :megusta:

  • ♥ Perfect!

  • This music is so beautiful. Why can't there be more bands like this!!

  • @TheLRC23 There are plenty bands like this ;)

You've just got to seek them out.

  • @JackWMS14 That's the hard part. LOL. The only reason I found this song is because I follow Gwyneth Paltrow's site goop.com and they make playlists every month. If you have any suggestions I'd love to know them! :-)

  • @TheLRC23 Mainly the genres Shoegaze and Dream-pop cover this style, although they are often more chilled out than the Horrors, they have a more punk influence to their stuff than most of these bands but I can suggest: My Bloody Valentine (Loveless), Ride, Spiritualized, Slowdive, Atlas Sound, Boards of Canada, Jesus & Mary Chain, Pail Saints, Lush and some stuff by The Verve even.

    Enjoy.

  • @JackWMS14 "Bittersweet Symphony" is one of my favorites. The music in that song is like a drug to me. I've never heard of most of those bands you named but I will definitely give them a listen. I'm always on the hunt for new music since I don't listen to the radio. Thank you!!!! :-)

  • @TheLRC23 Yeah, that's their big track of their big album (which is fantastic I must say), but some of their other stuff is quite psychedelic and dream like. I realise that list a gave you might be a bit daunting so I'll suggest 3 albums that are really worth listening to:

    My Bloody Valentine - Loveless.

    Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies

Boards of Canada - Campfire headpahse (more electronic but very chilled.)

Those three records are a must for a fan of beautiful music, they are all lovely!

  • XD

  • Visually stunning video. :)

  • Its very New Order, and I love it.

  • literally never get sick of this song

  • does anybody get a big doors feel, particularly with this song?

  • @sorafan183 'big doors' ? or 'The Doors' ?

  • Yeah 80's are definitely back, but thankfully without the shitty drum samples.

  • I wonder what would happen if I watched this with 3D glasses on...

  • @XArsoNick you would probably have an epileptic fit.

  • echo and the bunnymen voice, love it!!

  • Best song I have heard in ages

  • I just realized that you guys were in the mighty boosh awesome

  • 80s are coming back and that is so effing cool :) Just listen to what alternative bands are doing lately, it has new wave and post-punk written all over.

  • I have some lyricsvideos on my channel, check them out if you want :)

  • Saquen Los Ácidos ♥ D:

  • @x1x2x3r sacalos en el vive va jeje

  • @kittieasfixia Ya Estas.... :)

  • @x1x2x3r pasame tu face no robo soy chica jaja

  • The best song and album of 2011 and the best video to go along with it. The soundtrack to an interesting time for me. Pure perfection.

  • see you @Sziget 2012

  • @He7e gonna be there too! :)

  • they sound sooooo much like simple minds

  • The Horrors >

  • @abbotskerswellpostie So what if it sounds like other bands? It's still a good song. And why does something have to be original to be good? It's probably impossible to write something now without it being influenced by someone else.

  • GOD SAVES BRITISH MUSIC !!!

  • @circlemaker *saved

  • @circlemakerAnd to thr Queen too HAHA!

  • @circlemaker British music saves God!
