Ford Prefect - The Pangalactic Hobo. Ford Prefect is not a Hobo, he is a reporter for Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy--the company that produces Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It is that Ford Prefect had a falling out with the company, and went and rigged their financial computer (cannot be fired), and still gets paid; the company is still trying to get their credit card back; and he still writes for freebies, such as beer, room, lodging, get your little thing published in the Guide.

i was dubious about mos def but really i ended up likeing the new movie as much as the old series. I thought it was cool to see adam's books brought to life with the ultramodern effects, but going back theres something way more otherworldly about the sets and aliens of the series.

they all do. But the sixth book is coming out in october. Eoin Colfer is writing for Douglas Adams. Adams never got to finish the series before he died. So Colfer is finishing it for him, and from what is known so far, all the characters are coming back.

I think Def was OK for the movie version (He's better than some ideas I had in his place when the movie was announced) - but he just seemed to make Ford more cowardly instead of the mix of debonair with the smile of a shark that puts you at unease and totally out of his mind on a pan-galactic gargleblaster. I know that's the writing, but he just fell a little flat for me compared to Dixon and McGivern (audio).

Ford was played by David Dixon. scifigroup has the series up on youtube. If you watch it look for Peter Davidson (The Fifth Doctor) he plays "the meal of the day" in one episode lol. And his wife (Sandra Dickinson) plays Trillian.
