Josh was performing it live LONG before it was recorded for The Animal Years. I saw him back around '03 or '04 at the Mercury Lounge during CMJ and he opened with this song. To follow up on GaryPot34's comment... If you think this is good, listen to Josh Ritter! If you think Josh's recording is good, get him to play it live with a full band in a small venue.

This song is just well-written amazing American folk music.

I like when people who cover songs on here, mention the band or artist and give credit to the song personally before recording it. Josh is a great singer/songwriter whose written a great song here and deserves credit for his work.
