There is an effort put forth to get Mick voted into the Rock Hall. If you truly appreciate Mick, please contact the Rock Hall to cast your vote.
3) On Display in London were many of Mick's belongings, including his shoes, on-stage outfits like the one you see here, and more. If you like this video, order the book called 'The spider with the platinum hair" now in its second edition. If you need more information, please contact me at Cyberopbug@aol.com.
1) First, let me thank Glarrock for uploading this fantastic bit of Rock History. PLEASE keep it available for all to see. I thank you very very much
2) We assembled a group of people from Cleveland and Akron to fly to London to see the reunion of Mott the Hoople. We took with us Suzie Ronson (you can actually see her dressing the guys up backstage, and who by the way, was responsible for David Hair style, thats right!), the widow of Mick, and their daughter Lisa.
Randy's role model and hero here at his best! For all you guitarists, here is a prime example of Mick pulling/pushing on that section of string between the stop tail and bridge for bends and rings. R.I.P. Ronno
You are absolutely right, Ronson underpins Bowies success and i know Bowie himself acknowledges this.
BTW i was there at Ronsons memorial concert at the Hammersmith Odeon (poiniant!) and Def Leppard did a brilliant version of this, not as good but close, they had Woody on drums and Bolder on bass, unforgetable
Ronson is very overlooked when best guitarist lists are made...Jimmy Page is not fit to kiss his ass imo. No show-boating, no extra notes played, just awesomeness!!!
@FutureKubrick you bet he was! I only discovered him recently and he ranks at one of my all time favorites now. Mick was Beautiful......he is awesome beyond words RIP Mick Ronson :(
Ronson was a terrific musician, it really takes some guts -and your hand numb after all those impressive string bendings!- to render a performance like this. However, Ronson is never ranked in the same heights as Jeff Beck or Jimmy Page are where he certainly belongs to. Chances are because of his premature death, so he could record just few songs compared to them. But I don't get what's the use of including Jack White or Billy Corgan.
@MechaGojira00 well he died in 1993 so i wouldnt say totally premature. at 47 both page and beck had already record the songs that made them the legends they are.
Gemma we saw David do this at the Covent Garden show a little before your time...I am helping plan BowieFest 2011 as I have met him a few times ,Mr. Funnyman we call him,as he is hilarious all the time....email me luv on ya,
Mick Ronsons right on the money here AND Moonage daydreams fckn amazing on thus show....David at his awesome best:one of his many "retirement shows" haha....Yeah,he said when he first heard Ronsons guitar,he thought"now, this is MY Jeff Beck!Gotta have him" THE 2 ARE SHIT-HOT 2GETHER
I discovered this song when I bought the Live in santa monica 1972 album..it's one of the best songs i've ever heard, and certainly one of the best guitar solos! Mick Ronson is unique!
Last time I checked Bowie was married to a beautiful black woman and has probably boned more bitches then you ever will. Sorry if this bums you out. I'm bummed too.
I always thought mick was the master of feedback and shred. He just had his own style that nobody could reproduce. You can really hear it on "Panic in Detroit" on the outro,it's so sad that he left us,but his music will last forever.

i love this song, and i love mick ronson. but i hate the middle of this song when he goes off on his solo. i usually fast forward it until bowie comes back on.
Ronno is one of my top 5 guitarists, but he has better solos. Moonage daydream from this same concert is my favorite.
I'm pretty sure the long solo was worked in to allow for one of Bowie's many costume changes during the Ziggy shows. Love it or hate it, it serves a purpose, so why cry about it?
I too have searched a lifetime for the greatest guitar riff. So far, it would have to be bowie's lead guitarist. Start at the 2/3 point (4:00) for two minutes of this six minute riff. We have seen it before, but what is better and how could we not get enough?
Gemma as you can see David used the very best lighting people he could afford...the first 10 secs of whis,'Width of', he looks sooo vunerable ,then as the light changes,he moves, his ENTIRE appearance completely changes...Watch closley and learn!
Ronson takes over everything in this great song, he might be disappointed if they play Lady Stardust after, doesn´t he?One of the best Bowie songs and it remains quite unkown for most of the people, a classic!
don't forget ritchie blackmore, hendrix had is fling at monterey and woodstock and in as band of gypsies but deep purple and ritchie were/was way better, don't get me wrong, Mick is awesome too, and so were Iommi and Page but i think Ritchie is better.
sorry 'bout the spelling mistakes below,in a rush, but notice how David looks so vulnerable at the beginning of 'Width'.then the lighting changes completely and he comes on like a rocket...he always demanded the very best lighting people.
Well if you must know I saw David do this song 'twice in one day'...live at the then,O'Keffe Center, beautiful Toronto,Canada...caught the matiness show at 2:PM and the eve show at 'round 9:PM..one a way to kick off my summer from high school..
Glarrock!! This is GREAT! I LOVE IT! I had this when it came out in the 70's. I always like Width of A Circle! Ronson doing the one hand solo is icrediable! Thanks! rduquet
Trevor Bolder is fucking good, I like him more and more the more I listen to him playing. I wish he had been given at least a little more presence while he was with the Spiders.
You have to be a Bowie fan to be listening to this one. Only the true fans appreciate. I have to say that the David Live version is much better - too bad there is no video of Diamond Dogs, David Live or Stage tours. At least none that are any good.
Bowie is GOD.

Why did it cut-out so abruptly?
