i don't understand. What's so special about this? Why would anyone pay $80 for a tuner when you could get a cheap on that clips on the head? What's the point of paying this much for a pedal?
I just got mine used from guitar center. But no manual. Its tuning right but with the string numbers. I play in Drop A and B and need to know the notes. anyeone know how to change that setting? I';ve tried meddling with it.
@shabond901 its a lot more convenient using a tuner you can stomp on and off inside your rig when your playing live, saves having to unplug your guitar and re plug it into a tuner
@rerean yes sorry about my poor english.. if there is something that change the tune of the guitar automatically in half step down for example, without change the tune from the guitar strings?
Yes it is more accurate. Its not the most accurate, there r better tuners. But it has several useful features which enable quick and easy on stage tuning regardless of lighting conditions. in the grand scheme of things it aint that expensive
i just had my ibanez rg 2228 today and curently have this pedal as well but its the first time that i have locknuts so im new to this, shoudl i lock the nuts first and tune it after or tune it right away and lock it?
im new to this and have probs with tuning the bass string.
Yup u can tune more or less anyt tuning with this pedal. We have 6, 7 and 8 string and baritone guitars in our band and use a variety of tunings, in a several down tunings and have never had a problem.
As for the difference, most pedals are fairly simila in that they tune. Some will be more accurate than others and some may diminish your tone
So you are probably much better than me, but I noticed you don't "tune up"... What I mean by this is if you always make sure you hit the right note while twisting your tuning knob higher, it will stay in tune better.
Yes this is true, and it is something I do if I am using a standard guitar with a tuno-matic bridge, standard nut and tunings pegs. But when usiing a guitar with a locking tuning system its less of an issue, as you are using the fine tuning dials at the bridge.
Completely right on! Some people don't know this, or understand it, but if you don't have a locking bridge and crappy tuners, it will help tremendously to "tune up" (so to speak) - I gotta say man, you are insane with your reviews!!! You can send your unused pedals my way! :P
Yes it can be used to power other pedal on your board via a diasy chain system like the NS-2. The amount of pedals depends on the power rating and Amp rating of each pedal. Not sure of the exact amount. I wouldnt use it as my promary power supply for my board.
Output and bybass, what is the difference and what should i use if i connect this with my other pedals? I suppose i set this pedal as the last thing in my board?
Output means when the pedal is on yourguitar signal is muted for silent tuning. IN bypass mode it means your guitar signal is always sent o the amp, so u can hear yourself tune thru the amp
When i try to tune my guitar with it, it shows the correct tone in a half sec or so.. after that it says 0 and the lights go all the way to the right.. is it bcoz i need to plug it in with a power cord in addition to the battery or is it an error which needs repairing?
Mmm not sure. I use mains supply on my tuner also, so I dont think its a power problem. Not entirely sure. Best contacting Boss or retruning the unit as faulty
i tune in B-F#-D-A-E-B... This will work for me? Another question: Could this pedal mute the sound while tunning guitar on stage or something? Is it tru-bypass?
yeah it reads every not the only problem is if u what the sharp u switch modes unless u have common sense and leave as is but make that not sharp or flat
You can have it in number mode or note mode. Read the manual, it will tell you how to toggle between them. I prefer note mode as I use alot of alt tunings
The guitar used in this video had a floyd rose. The tuner makes little difference to the process of tuning on a floyd rose guitar, you would simply tune in the normal way
well i accidentally hit the post button halfway through posting so here goes again.
Tune low E
Tune low E + A
Tune low E + A + D
Tune low E + A + D + G
Tune low E + A + D + G + b
Tune low E + A + D + G + b + e
and fine adjust it from there. That should prove the ebst way to tune a floyd but be warned it takes ages unless you can lock down the trem for tuning (ala tremolno).
The basic output will cause the guitar signal to be muted. If you connect the output signal to the Bypass the TU-2 will be in use and the guitar signal will still be sent to your pedals and amp thus you wil lhear the guitar. So 'Output' for muted tuning, 'Bypass' for tuning with sound from your amp.
It does indeed yeh. The Sunburst LP i play in some videos is an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I installed the JB in the bridge and '59 in the neck years ago. I also replaced the wiring and potentiometers etc. Sounds great. I have since had it re-fretted. Plays very wll and sounds excellent especially thru a nice tube amp, big big difference from the stock model it once was. Very much recommend the Seymours. I hav it on good authority that Bare Knuckle Pickups are worth a look also.
Aaaah right sorry. Basically i replaced the volume and tone knobs inside the guitar, the jack and all the wiring inside the guitar along with the pickups. Improved the sound and reduced the noise. I had it re-fretted as our drummer dropped it on its neck and a few frets were dented thus caused choking frets.
Tnhks a lot dude, i have a tele with seylour duncan soapbars and i wanna buy a good guitar for backup so i think de epi LP with another pickUps will be cool. :)
I been using one of these for a while now. They're good if you're playing indoors, but if you try tunning up outside on a sunny day you're in trouble. Just thought i'd save anyone having to find out for themselves. \m/_
Yeh I have had a similar experience with outdoor venues infact. All Boss pedals were problematic infact. IN bright sunshine it is very difficult to see if the pedal is on or off. Some pedals are ok if they have Blue LED's, but red is very difficult to see. Constructing a pedalboard shade for outdoor gigs is a good idea, sometimes using ur monitor close ot your board is enough depending on the angle of the sun!

if i link my guitar to the input and the rest of my pedals/amp to the bypass out when i stomp the tu-2 it bypass everything??
RelieveBand 3 years ago
The basic output will cause the guitar signal to be muted. If you connect the output signal to the Bypass the TU-2 will be in use and the guitar signal will still be sent to your pedals and amp thus you wil lhear the guitar. So 'Output' for muted tuning, 'Bypass' for tuning with sound from your amp.
