@sushanalone Yeah, the cartoon could be perceived or intended to be "racist". I understand that, as I imagine most people would. It's just, like, what if the cartoon wasn't racist? When one people calls racism, it changes many other views about it... When I heard it was allegedly racist, the first thought was "Oh, Obama's 'black', that must be why." But that's the message they were trying to convey in that post. Is to stop having these unintelligent people write our bills.
@Matt0the0dude of course depicting a black man as a chimp is not racist. we all know that. thats so alien to our stereotypes and society. right? its shameless guilty response. If a non black an see it it is racist.
This guy, Cenk Uygur was fucking OWNED on the Dylan Rattigan show yesterday, after stating that Obama is too CONSERVATIVE. (Yeah, that's why Obama's approval ratings are falling to 40%!) Fucking liberals, no wonder the GOP looks to retake the house and senate just like they did in 1994, when Bill Clinton FUCKED up our country in 1993 and 1994!
if you were offended in a racial capacity by the cartoon, you're a massive cunt.
Bush had several cartoons depicting him as a monkey, and it's either "he looks like a monkey" or "he's as dumb as a monkey"
Obama gets the same treatment and it's a played off as a travesty. The chimp didn't even resemble Obama. Some artist that took shots at Bush had primates with squinty eyes, or his ears, etc. This is just some chimp, no comparisons to Obama except intellect. Get over yourselves, pricks.
@ColeMcGrath The reason they aren't getting the same reaction for the same treatment is because they aren't coming from the same place. "Monkey" is a fairly common racial slur against black people. When a white person is called a monkey, there is no history of racial hatred behind it, so you aren't going to get the same strong reaction. N. America still has a race problem, whether we like it or not.
@CanadianQueer It wasn't saying Obama looked like a monkey, had the skin color of a monkey, it's physical attributes were not what was being taken into question in relation to our half-black president. By sociological definition racism is the belief or outlook that an entire race of people are inferior, this perticular cartoon really wasn't making reference to such a thing, just calling our president dumb.
As was said, if someone took it as a racial thing, they're just a whiny cunt.
@ColeMcGrath Just because you have a certain perception of what the cartoon meant, doesn't mean that people who have a different perception are "whiny cunts", it just means that they are coming from a different place than you and most likely have different life experiences, especially with racism. You don't get to decide how people should react or what they should think, and neither can anyone else; all we can do is try to understand each other, which i think is really lacking in race relations.
@CanadianQueer No, it's not a perception issue. In what way is this insulting the BLACK RACE as a whole? Or identifying our half black president as an inferior racial type? It's people whining because they want to start shit.
In the video game Left 4 Dead 2, some newspaper writer tried to claim the developers were racist because the Zombies being attacked on some game art were black, this is the same scenario -- someone whining and blowing it out of proportion.
@ColeMcGrath Dude, people have used the term "monkey" to depict black people as members of an inferior racial type. The "Obama as a monkey" cartoon is, to some, a painful reminder of that racial hatred, especially to those who have contended with racially motivated harassment or violence. Again, you don't get to decide what people's perceptions should be.
@CanadianQueer I know black people get called monkey, if it simply stated "Obama is a monkey" or somehow implied a racial hatred, then it could very well fall under a perception issue.
They're calling him dumb, -THAT'S ALL- it doesn't draw comparisons to his heritage or skin color. There is no grounds for racism questioning, it's comparing him to a monkey just like Bush was, calling him stupid.
Refer to the Left 4 Dead 2 business, it's exactly the same thing here -- a whiny asshole.
I don't care what anyone says, Cenk REALLY is the most open minded man in America (for a political analyst). He has problems with certain Republicans and Democrats alike. Is Cenk awesome? OF COUUURRRSEEE!
@sarcasticduck44: Every time I watch a TYT video I hear so many fallacious arguments I literally lose track of how many there are. Most of their arguments boil to to "like, ya know, c'mon....." or just chuckling to themselves.
They try to come off as 'the nice guys' but they make constant ad hominem jabs that are irrelevant.
They don't understand economics, they don't understand history, most of the time they don't even understand what they're trying to say.
@mikebgood It is EXHAUSTING to continually have to counter the insane claims of the right wing with the facts. The facts have a well-known liberal bias. Cenk just doesn't bother. When the thing he is responding to is so absurd and outrageous on its surface, it doesn't need to be debunked one more time. If that's all Cenk did his show would get very repetitious. If you listen consistently he certainly does address everything, but he needn't go over it all every time.
@mikebgood If there's something in particular that Cenk said that you didn't feel he supported, I would be glad to fill in for you what Cenk left unsaid.
@baalisgod666: That brings up a good point. Your question implies that we should only watch things that we already agree with. I think that says a tremendous amount about you and others who watch TYT and don't become disgusted (most of their viewers I presume).
lol this tyt douche should just give up. he thinks hes open minded. he has his own agenda and beliefs like everyone else. hey u ugly fuck pull the dick out of your ass!
@wastedyouth1109 A liberal is a man who thinks that just because a wealthy person was given their money and privilege by inheritance without ever working a day for it, that doesn't mean they are immune from the obligation we all have to each other to ensure prosperity, equality, and the pursuit of happiness for everyone.
Chimp images were used along side Bush all the time....to suggest he wasnt very smart. Funny how that meaning vanishes once Obama is in office...and now its just some racist thing. Obama didnt write the bill anyways. Its not even meant to represent him. But those who wrote the bill. The same people will always cry racism anytime they can. It gets them on TV. Its how they make their living.
I see how in the past, it's been an insult. But it is also a widely known expression that you can sit a monkey infront of a type writer and it will eventually type something out. It's also said that a monkey is bound to write something ridiculous. The cartoon is saying how the bill was written poorly. It could have been done more tastefully. People on both ends need to chill out. Its obviously about the concept of a monkey typing something stupid and it is also really insensitive.
I don't get it. A chimp is a chimp, not an african-american (stupid term btw, makes me a caucasian, gah!). I buy their appology. Why does a chimp have to represent a black guy and not just someone who's not exactly clever? To me, people who think along these lines on BOTH SIDES are the actual racist.
To put it more bluntly: If you saw a black guy in that cartoon right away, you got racist crap in your system.
They should have known this ad is hurtful. It doesn't matter if the person who drew this ad was meaning to be racist or not. The problem is that a lot of African Americans have a stigma against being portrayed as monkeys, and the shouldn't have run the ad.
But you will never understand because you never felt the pain of being discriminated against.
It's amazing how self-centered some people, especially black people can be, a monkey is a monkey.
Why did nobody call it racism when they compared Bush to a monkey? Why does black people have to relate to monkeys? If you think like that, then you're just being a self-centered racist.
@IVisionLive i dont think you get it, the reason why it would be offensive to black people is, in the past black people were called monkey and chimps by whites as an insult, so black people think that the newspaper was calling them monkeys, which really is an insult.
Spike Lee called Clint Eastwood a racist because Eastwood didn't have any blacks in his movie "Flags of Our Fathers".
Of course Spike was pushing his own lame movie at the time.
And Cenk didn't make any sense.
At the time of the cartoon it was widely believed that Pelosi authored the Stimulus Bill (we now know it was largely authored by the Apollo Alliance) so unless you think calling an old white woman a chimp is racist then the New York Post is completely in the clear.
1) Omitting the contributions, sacrifices and sheer numbers of Black soldiers in every WWI movie is a smack to the face of ALL veterans who served, but most especially to those who had the least to come back home to and didn't even get the FHA loans and G.I. Bill money their White counterparts got.
That's racist, though not intentionally bigoted.
2) At the time OBAMA was seen as the face and force behind healthcare reform - NOT Pelosi.
Add to that list the fact that 1 out of every 3 cowboys in the U.S. was actually Black and then look at Western movies and tell me what kind of representation they got.
Of the more than 80,000 marines that participated in the battle less than a 900 were black - and all of these were restricted from front line combat. Eastwood did have cutaway shot of a handful of blacks. So Eastwood's portrayal was essentially accurate.
No omission there, unless you bemoan the fact that he didn't show black soldiers peeling potatos and digging slit latrines.
If you don't see that as being the case, then no amount of reason or logic will resonate with you.
Those who follow politics know the bill was written by Congress, BUT the vast hue and cry of Americans only connect Obama with the bill, as he's the face man for the Dems and for the stimulus bill.
So perception was that he was the author, ultimately.
morpheusxnyc: "So perception was that he was the author, ultimately."
No, that is false. The perception (and reality) of President Obama is that, unlike 43 presidents before, Obama has authored nothing.
Mr. Hope and Change has abdicated ALL authorship to Congress. That is fact, and the public is quite aware of it.
If you really want to see some racist cartoons I suggest you go to Google images and enter: Condi cartoon, Justice Thomas cartoon or michael steele oreo.
It was very offensive, not just to blacks but to any of those who are racially sensitive. To simply just say 'if' it is offensive- the cartoonist and the paper's columnist knew it was before they published it- they did it to create controversy and possibly sell more copies of their publication. It is a very thinly veiled racial dig. In tis day and age ALL races should know better especially in America.
I meant that it's absurd to ask the victim of an offense to confront their assailant by diplomatically and tactfully broaching the subject in the most inoffensive and nonjudgmental way possible, avoiding even indicating what the nature of the offense was or why it was offensive.
If you're not supposed to call an offensive racist thing an offensive racist thing, what exactly is the offense you're discussing?
Cenk was basically saying that the term racist should not be used when describing a cartoon that portrayed a Black man as a monkey because it might offend the racists that published it, therefore making them less likely to admit their racism and apologize.
WTF??!!!
So, let's not a thief with theft because that might hurt their feelings and they'll be less likely to confess to their crime? Instead let's have tea and see if they feel chatty about what they've done?
Yes, the cartoon is racist. Was it intentionally racist? Most probably. If not, the cartoonist and newspaper are both at fault for utter stupidity in not realizing this.
However, what is more important? The nature of the cartoon itself, or its implications? I say the latter. "Of couuuuuuurse" like Cenk would say.
In an age where "racial" sensitivity is still a big topic in your country, you have to be careful about these things, whether you agree with them or not.
I think we do need to talk about this in some location. Have a wood stock but have it be like curing or solving the issue of discrimination. I mean this is suppose to be the land where everyone is on an equal playing field.
Of course its not if a particular race is already in a hole if you will.
I do agree that the paranoia surrounding what words/images can be used in regards to non-whites is divisive because every time you talk to someone you have to evaluate whether or something you say can be construed as racist, which causes you to actively think about racial differences.
But I did not like this cartoon. It's not the chimp part that bothered me, but the dead chimp part. The violent context made it disturbing.
I think the alarming issue is that The New York Post would knowingly publish a cartoon which obviously could be taken in a certain context as racist.
It's unreasonable to say that the Cartoonist or at least the Editor of the publication wouldn't realize the racial connotation to the comic and have it changed. It leads me to think that The New York Post would actually publish something with obvious racial implications for publicity, and that; is pretty goddamn despicable.
New York post does these things to get itself in the line light. If it did things by the book it wouldn't be noticed as much. The people there I would say have no common sense.
@eyesphere If you're offended by the cartoon then that means you see some kind of peculiar association between black people and monkeys. Its not racist to associate an individual to a monkey. And by the way, its usually someone in the legislative branch to craft new laws. Why are the people at MSNBC and TYT so quick to associate monkeys with black people?
People like you need to understand that the Al Sharptons and others who inject race into everything for their own personal or political gain... they are not doing the country a favor. The race-baiting and constant fear of being branded racist can actually make some non-racist white people MORE RACIST.
In other words, enforcing Political Correctness on whites to a draconian degree IS and WILL make white people generally more resentful. Live and let live my friend!! Cenk is right.
Maybe I'm missing something...but I don't get whats so bad about this. Is it insensative, is it all the things mentioned? Yeah, but thats comedy, how many insensative rude politcal cartoons are there out there, turning this into a race issue, rather then all the degrading attacks on Republicans, or Democrats, or Christians or athiest or what ever is stupid.
As I believe a Comedian once said...I'm not racist I make fun of everyone. We can laugh at jokes about whites, but never blacks?
My platoon had a monkey that we imaged was giving our commander ideas for our training or missions that sometimes didn't make sense, but our commander was white, the page six cartoon was the same monkey we had and was not a depiction of our commander and this one i do not believe was a depiction of the president. 2/20/2009 damn am late
That would have been a much better piece if the host had just shut up. The two guests were having a much more interesting conversation then the one the host was trying to push.
Jokes on color are funny, but I think referring to a group of people as monkeys is a bit much. I mean it might be funny if Obama did anything similar to that of a monkey, but he didn't.
if you said to me, i look like a ape, one of the animals i can think of that looks like a human is an ape, i am strong like a ape and i am dark skinned like a ape
He cannot put terrorist on trial in NY with our const. rights and convince Americans it is the right thing.
He also needs to stop spending time apologizing for the US being a powerful nation.
He needs to realize we ARE a christian nation founded on udeo Christion principals. This does not need be changed or destroyed. Read the preamble for each state. Please everyone, read them. The facts speak for themselves.
He is bad for this country and need to be removed from power. NOW!
im not being liberal if i say one of the oldest rules of this country the founding fathers didnt want the church interfering with matters that the church knows nothing about and thats all im saying excuse me for not liking christianity and i know your not gonna agree and thats fine i forgive you isnt that what your religion teaches you
There is no apology is not needed. It is not racist. STOP with the race card shit. It is a hiding hole to stop conversation that liberals need.
Get to the issues, forget the cartoons.
Obama needs to play another round of golf. He needs to kill more time before this monkey-man decides on troops in Afgan. What a joke he turned out to be.
He cannot create jobs with stimulus. It will never work. He knows that. He just needs to please his agenda of wealth redistribution.
Lol I like the blind governor guy (what ever his name is) statement at the end where he says "unlike Saturday Night Live, I think the New York Post made a valor kind of apology." I mean, was that guy really offended by the SNL skits?
And, why the hell are they showing his statement? Does he even know what a cartoon is? I mean, he's blind! How can he be commenting on TV shows and cartoons when those things are visual... He's fucking blind!
wow, someone gets pissy easily. All I know is that if I were to go national television and talk politics, I would try to look my best. So, why don't you get a life instead.
So theres a certain look you need to go for? then your not getting that we are all individuals and should look like we want to and our fellow humans should accept the way we choose to look. A simple tie can't do that much harm and I think it's a very small detail to emphasize when the topic of the video is far more important.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are the two most racist human being on this planet...period! I am not racist by any means so don't attack me on this, but why don't they support WHITE student unions. I'm in college and all I see are HISPANIC, ASIAN, INDIAN, BLACK, etc.. student unions and not one WHITE union....kind of racist if you ask me...FUCK the color of skin, white people suffer as much if not more than all the other races just by being called a fucking racist all the time!
all races dont suffer the same most countries with white people (other than eastern Russia and Georgia) have whites as mostly middle class and higher. But I do have to agree on this Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are like the black kkk and are just as bad. Hell Al Sharpton told a buncha college kids to kill the pigs(cops) and jesse jackson calls racist cracka! everytime he sees money involved
Obama does kind of look like a Chimpanzee in all honesty. Is that why they thought it was supposed to represent him?? Why does it matter what color anybody is? Nothin worse than people playing the 'Race Card'...
there's other races in the US not trying to down black people but there should be more insight into the depletion to Native American population and the never seen racism towards Asians that's always in plain sight. Its offensive yes but we also need to focus on more than just one race
No...we should not focus on race at all. We are ALL human beings and should be treated as such. I hate this political correctness crap going on in America today. Just treat everyone equal (both in praise and criticisms).
Suppressed my ass...I won't deny that there are people who are bigoted against another race, etc... but the majority of people really don't give a shit... Some people are just whiners and they think the world is out to get them. When people say something that you find "insensitive", then we should just pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and move on with life. period.
Racism isn't just supporting white and black water fountains and school y'know.
Its saying a black man is a whiner. Like you just did.
When the statistics show minorities go to prison instead of college in large numbers. That cannot be denied. And its no way their fault. Its obviously the system ran by old white men. Nothing's really changed in 200 years.
I didn't say black men were whiners...you just make that assumption cause that's how society has conditioned us to think (that the black man is the victim)...By the way, if I had said white men are such whiners, I wouldn't be racist I would just be stating my opinion. But as soon as you distinguish some negative attribute to someone who happens to be black, you're suddenly a racist...That's unfortunate with the statistic, but they shouldn't be commiting crimes so I have no sympathy for that.
I didn't say white people had anything to complain about, I was making a comparison between if you said it about a white man compared to a black man...Plus, have you been away from all forms of communication for the past year? The PRESIDENT of the United States is black!!! He is in power, moron...Plus, the chairman of the RNC is black (Michael Steele)...not to mention Roland Burris in the senate and about 40 or so in the House.
And who's pulling the strings? A white man. The leaders of corporations. We no longer control our government by voting. Its by shopping. Because the corporations are in control.
The government is now putting regulations on these corporations and trying to reign them in. Something, I am usually not totally for, but in this economic climate it is necessary...The government has more control over lives then corporations...The government gives us our rights and takes away our rights. Corporations are, in a broad respect, controlled by governments if they stop working for the good of the country and the people
They give them money with conditions (and obviously there have already been some mistakes e.g. corporate bonuses)...but it's still the government printing the money and giving it away. Not the corporations. The government won't interfere if they don't have to, but if there are problems then you'd better bet they will.
Pronounced Jenk but spelled Cenk because in Turkish the C makes a "jay" sound and S makes a SSSS sound, so it's predictable like the hungarian alphabet
Being a left-leaning Independent and having seen the cartoon, I do not think it was meant to be racist. I may be giving the Washington Post too much credit, but I think they may be alluding to the Infinite Monkey Theoem: that if you give enough monkeys typewriters, they will eventually write the a comprehesible text. I have also not forgotten that former idiot in chief, Bush, was often drawn as a monkey: a direct insult which I laughed at heartily, but an insult nonetheless.
Im sorry but to say you cant imply the Presidents intellect to that of an ape is ridiculous. It divides people, and is clearly reaching. I mean man come on!!!! How lightly do you have to tread round these people. (These people meaning "OVER SENSITIVE PEOPLE"). Its an indictment of the climate I have to prove my non racist attitude and dble check my comments dont get twisted. It ticks me off. Igot the cartoon right away. Obamas stimulus bill was written by a lower species. Over reaction by far!

Fucking liberals, no wonder the GOP looks to retake the house and senate just like they did in 1994, when Bill Clinton FUCKED up our country in 1993 and 1994!
willhunting1995 1 year ago
if you were offended in a racial capacity by the cartoon, you're a massive cunt.
ColeMcGrath 1 year ago
@ColeMcGrath The reason they aren't getting the same reaction for the same treatment is because they aren't coming from the same place. "Monkey" is a fairly common racial slur against black people. When a white person is called a monkey, there is no history of racial hatred behind it, so you aren't going to get the same strong reaction. N. America still has a race problem, whether we like it or not.
CanadianQueer 1 year ago
@CanadianQueer It wasn't saying Obama looked like a monkey, had the skin color of a monkey, it's physical attributes were not what was being taken into question in relation to our half-black president. By sociological definition racism is the belief or outlook that an entire race of people are inferior, this perticular cartoon really wasn't making reference to such a thing, just calling our president dumb.
As was said, if someone took it as a racial thing, they're just a whiny cunt.
ColeMcGrath 1 year ago
@ColeMcGrath Just because you have a certain perception of what the cartoon meant, doesn't mean that people who have a different perception are "whiny cunts", it just means that they are coming from a different place than you and most likely have different life experiences, especially with racism. You don't get to decide how people should react or what they should think, and neither can anyone else; all we can do is try to understand each other, which i think is really lacking in race relations.
CanadianQueer 1 year ago
@CanadianQueer No, it's not a perception issue. In what way is this insulting the BLACK RACE as a whole? Or identifying our half black president as an inferior racial type? It's people whining because they want to start shit.
In the video game Left 4 Dead 2, some newspaper writer tried to claim the developers were racist because the Zombies being attacked on some game art were black, this is the same scenario -- someone whining and blowing it out of proportion.
ColeMcGrath 1 year ago
@ColeMcGrath Dude, people have used the term "monkey" to depict black people as members of an inferior racial type. The "Obama as a monkey" cartoon is, to some, a painful reminder of that racial hatred, especially to those who have contended with racially motivated harassment or violence. Again, you don't get to decide what people's perceptions should be.
CanadianQueer 1 year ago
@CanadianQueer I know black people get called monkey, if it simply stated "Obama is a monkey" or somehow implied a racial hatred, then it could very well fall under a perception issue.
They're calling him dumb, -THAT'S ALL- it doesn't draw comparisons to his heritage or skin color. There is no grounds for racism questioning, it's comparing him to a monkey just like Bush was, calling him stupid.
Refer to the Left 4 Dead 2 business, it's exactly the same thing here -- a whiny asshole.

But you will never understand because you never felt the pain of being discriminated against.

You sir are a smart man.
It's amazing how self-centered some people, especially black people can be, a monkey is a monkey.
Why did nobody call it racism when they compared Bush to a monkey? Why does black people have to relate to monkeys? If you think like that, then you're just being a self-centered racist.
IVisionLive 1 year ago
@IVisionLive i dont think you get it, the reason why it would be offensive to black people is, in the past black people were called monkey and chimps by whites as an insult, so black people think that the newspaper was calling them monkeys, which really is an insult.
Jaboor420 1 year ago
Spike Lee called Clint Eastwood a racist because Eastwood didn't have any blacks in his movie "Flags of Our Fathers".
Of course Spike was pushing his own lame movie at the time.
And Cenk didn't make any sense.
At the time of the cartoon it was widely believed that Pelosi authored the Stimulus Bill (we now know it was largely authored by the Apollo Alliance) so unless you think calling an old white woman a chimp is racist then the New York Post is completely in the clear.
razumfrackle 2 years ago
1) Omitting the contributions, sacrifices and sheer numbers of Black soldiers in every WWI movie is a smack to the face of ALL veterans who served, but most especially to those who had the least to come back home to and didn't even get the FHA loans and G.I. Bill money their White counterparts got.
That's racist, though not intentionally bigoted.
2) At the time OBAMA was seen as the face and force behind healthcare reform - NOT Pelosi.
Obama campaigned for it and stumped for it.
morpheusxnyc 2 years ago
WWII movie, rather.
Add to that list the fact that 1 out of every 3 cowboys in the U.S. was actually Black and then look at Western movies and tell me what kind of representation they got.
morpheusxnyc 2 years ago
Of the more than 80,000 marines that participated in the battle less than a 900 were black - and all of these were restricted from front line combat. Eastwood did have cutaway shot of a handful of blacks. So Eastwood's portrayal was essentially accurate.
No omission there, unless you bemoan the fact that he didn't show black soldiers peeling potatos and digging slit latrines.
razumfrackle 2 years ago
"At the time OBAMA was seen as the face and force behind healthcare reform"
Get your facts straight morpheusxnyc. The cartoon was about the Stimulus Bill not Health care reform.
razumfrackle 2 years ago
Excuse me. Stimulus bill. Obama was the face of the stimulus and Republicans laid all of it at his doorstep.
Obama even said that voters should hold him accountable for what job he doe son the economy.
Tell me again where Pelosi was in that equation?
morpheusxnyc 2 years ago
Deconstructing the cartoon itself is key to clearing up your confusion, "They'll have to find someone else to WRITE the next stimulus bill".
It was the House Bill that became law.
The public perceived Rep. Pelosi as its author because she was the defacto leader of House Democrats and the bill's most public and vocal proponent.
Obama did not WRITE the Stimulus Bill (the House did), nor did the public perceive him as its author.
Sorry Spike, the cartoon could not be about him.
razumfrackle 2 years ago
"Nor did the public perceive him as it's author"
See, that's where you're wrong.
Ergo, monkey = Obama and cartoon = racist dig.
morpheusxnyc 2 years ago
morpheusxnyc: "So perception was that he was the author, ultimately."

TheAfroQween 2 years ago
Cenk, love you to death man, but I think your logic is broken on this one.
The cartoon was racist, regardless of the supposed intention.
If you don't start out by acknowledging that fact, you have no grounds for having a conversation.
The conversation isn't one of informing the other person that they accidentally offended and having a dialogue. That's just the offended playing dumb.
They knew what they were doing.
The conversation needs to be about repercussions, not excuses.
morpheusxnyc 2 years ago
Amen! Thumbs up. I think you meant the offender playing dumb- not the offended-
Well said anyway! :)
TheAfroQween 2 years ago
lol... Thank you, love. I was typing in a hurry.
There's no logic to his point.
morpheusxnyc 2 years ago
Cenk was basically saying that the term racist should not be used when describing a cartoon that portrayed a Black man as a monkey because it might offend the racists that published it, therefore making them less likely to admit their racism and apologize.
WTF??!!!
So, let's not a thief with theft because that might hurt their feelings and they'll be less likely to confess to their crime? Instead let's have tea and see if they feel chatty about what they've done?
Ridiculous and insulting..
morpheusxnyc 2 years ago
Absolutely! I was like HUH?!?!?!?!???!!!
TheAfroQween 2 years ago

Of course its not if a particular race is already in a hole if you will.
hannigan06 2 years ago
I do agree that the paranoia surrounding what words/images can be used in regards to non-whites is divisive because every time you talk to someone you have to evaluate whether or something you say can be construed as racist, which causes you to actively think about racial differences.
But I did not like this cartoon. It's not the chimp part that bothered me, but the dead chimp part. The violent context made it disturbing.
nowherehome 2 years ago
I think the alarming issue is that The New York Post would knowingly publish a cartoon which obviously could be taken in a certain context as racist.
It's unreasonable to say that the Cartoonist or at least the Editor of the publication wouldn't realize the racial connotation to the comic and have it changed. It leads me to think that The New York Post would actually publish something with obvious racial implications for publicity, and that; is pretty goddamn despicable.
eyesphere 2 years ago 11
New York post does these things to get itself in the line light. If it did things by the book it wouldn't be noticed as much. The people there I would say have no common sense.
hannigan06 2 years ago
@eyesphere If you're offended by the cartoon then that means you see some kind of peculiar association between black people and monkeys. Its not racist to associate an individual to a monkey. And by the way, its usually someone in the legislative branch to craft new laws. Why are the people at MSNBC and TYT so quick to associate monkeys with black people?
mikebgood 1 year ago
@eyesphere

PersonalJesus348 2 years ago
I didn't say black men were whiners...you just make that assumption cause that's how society has conditioned us to think (that the black man is the victim)...By the way, if I had said white men are such whiners, I wouldn't be racist I would just be stating my opinion. But as soon as you distinguish some negative attribute to someone who happens to be black, you're suddenly a racist...That's unfortunate with the statistic, but they shouldn't be commiting crimes so I have no sympathy for that.

Pronounced Jenk but spelled Cenk because in Turkish the C makes a "jay" sound and S makes a SSSS sound, so it's predictable like the hungarian alphabet

that chimp could just as likely be Bush who is a prime poster boy for evolution when compared to a chimpanze
