  • Singing about me :D

  • Comparing this game to the other two NW games is a terrible comparsion, because of the fact that this an MMO. So you can't see this is worse in any way, shape, or form. Also people should stop saying things like "this game is going to shatter my childhood into pieces"

  • NWN was my childhood.

This is what would happen if an interplanetary demon reached into my past and hacked it to pieces. Honestly, way to fuck up an awesome game.

  • is it just me or are there still tieflings in neverwinter!!!!! XD

  • Ahhh... I feel at home in Faerun... no other campaign world can do that to me. That's why I don't feel conected to WoW or even Eberon (D&D World MMORPG). I am playin the Pen&Paper D&D Forgotten Realms since I turned 14 (and I am 46 now).

I always asked myself: "Why in the 9 Hells they don't do a Forgotten Realms MMORPG. There is Drizzt, there is Elminster and Szass Tam (Thay Ruler)"

And finnally... here it is... * applause*

  • looks like guild wars 1 to me

  • What's everyone bitching about? This trailer barely even shows any gameplay, all we know is that the game is free to play (Which, honestly, is better than buying the game and paying a monthly subscription) and that it's going to be an shifted towards the "action end of the MMO spectrum."

My expectations for this game aren't all that high, but I am for sure going to be downloading it and giving it a try once it comes out.

  • Let's just hope this'll at least try and compare with Guild Wars 2. Personally I'll buy both this and Guild Wars 2, they are both going to be fantastic games, but this is my childhood. I wish Neverwinter will be more popular.

  • Made this into online game?

    What the hell?

  • i loved the original Neverwinter but am not sure abt the switch to MMO but who knows this might be a good game. I will keep my fingers crossed.

  • I'm really looking forward to this, it looks great. However, somehow the terrible music reminds me of "American Horror Story"

  • The spirit of wow rapes another game.

  • how dare they butcher such a franchise, such a world as this.

  • free to play?

  • I am a big fan of the NWN Series... But after I saw that trailer, I know they have abandoned the franchise and are trying to squeeze the last drop of blood out of it. NWN is not a MMO its a single-player campaign with high standard in story and demanding tactical gameplay. Not... "This!"

  • 2nd Edition... AD&D. That was where it was at. The days when the game was a serious affair. Now it is dumbed down, and highly nerded up to appeal to the lowest common denominator in the name of market share and profits. Corporate consumer culture is the death of cool.

  • this is just pure shit

  • Ugh, this looks AWFUL... :( so sad, as NWN was such a fantastic game...

  • Thumbs up if you miss TSR.

  • but why dont they make the offline game ??

  • omg NWNs are my favor game and i'll play this fucking game

  • I miss the toolset from NWN1.

  • Well escuse me, but Im not impressed. Im a hardcore DnD and Forgotten Realms fan, but please. They can do so much better. Like dragonage and the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. I know that the story will not disapoint me but please, think of it as an ROLE PLAYING GAME not just kick in the door. And the grafics for god's sake. We demand a 2011 game to be competitive with what is already on the market. Hope it will not disapoint me....

  • @Saradidis Dragon Age 2 was an awful game

  • Omfg.... it's back, i havent played a neverwinter game in sooooo long!!

Thumbs up if you remember 'The Wailing Death'

  • @Deathcharge77 dude if you really enjoy nwn u should've said thumbs up if you remember 'knower of names'

  • I bet its gonna be like ddo, shallow and money hungry.

  • I'm really losing all my hopes for mmorpgs, if this game piss me then i will never look at an mmo again..

  • Neverwinter will be free to play somewhere close to 2012!!! thumbs up for people to see :DDD

  • MoTB still the best NWN

  • I wonder if the drow in trailer is a book based character.

  • Damn you, Atari and Cryptic! I want single player mode!!!

  • @SuperPepita89 there is you foo There will be whole campaign which you can pass solo or co-op

  • @Cypeq You are worng. Read any interview you want. You'll see that Neverwinter is only MM and Co-op. That's it.

  • The fact that it's based off Salvatores books and drow are in it is enough to make me try it ... lol.

  • Definately not NWN. I miss that damn game.

  • Will they lose the shitty heavy metal soundtrack?

  • @IronBrig4 Far from heavy metal but okay...

  • no barbarian + no warlock=no money given,so simple.Add those classes and i will think about it

  • @TheBerserk69

I'm saturated in certainty they'd be willing to jump at your whiny yelping, dog.

  • @Dissruptance

Dude you are propably a fat fanboy and totally stupid without a life,to insult someone you don't know for a sake of videogame...Do us a favour and shut your mouth with some donuts asshole

  • @TheBerserk69

I liked mine better. Required thinking, whereas yours is just... A bitter last grab for ground in a pathetic war waged by morons like you.

My point I made was: People like you, the gamers who feel entitled to everything grand, are horrific cancerous sores that need to be cut like that of any other growth that won't heal itself.

    Go mend, child. Go mend.

  • @Dissruptance

    dude you need phycotherapist,seriously

  • meh only 5 classes... That's a letdown. I really hope it's not only 3 races. Human Elf and Dwarf...wut?

  • Looking at the CG art is nothing, give us gameplay footage. But that said, don't like their track record and imagine these guys are going the way of Blak Isle Studios!

I can understand Atari and their position of money making, Hasbro and Wizards ar emilking this more than Atari could ever do. yawn

  • Don't miss the old nwn, still play it. :D:D:D

  • Please, no more mmo, childish female exploitation , limited character/class choices, and concentration on elves unless it's Drizzt Do' Urden

  • @Heathenlegions Drizzt is quite epic.

  • It's a shame there won't be any more CRPGs like baldur's gate, icewind dale, The Temple of Elemental Evil, and Planescape: Torment. I don't play 4E but I think it would be a pretty good system to translate into a classic-style CRPG like the aforementioned.

  • Hasbro and the Wizards are making D&D into something so campy, childish, and cheesy. It's like everything is made watered down... any of you folks remember the old AD&D monster manual? There was a seriousness to that book that anybody, even folk that never wanted to play the game could instantly see. Yes, this is a succubus... yes she ain't afraid to show you her tits. Now, what I would say about this game, is what I would say about society... too focused on gear aquisition and flash.

  • I miss the old Neverwinter Nights too. Both of them and mostly because you could CHOSE between singleplayer or multiplayer.

  • fuck you atari im getting skyrim

  • There is alleady Wow and a few other MMO's, what are they thinking???

  • It saddens me to know that there is no way that this game will live up to previous ones.

  • this is a just coop game, so basically not MMO. i doubt they will shit out an MMO while the shitty eberron is still alive

  • lets hope Cryptic Studio's doesn't screw this one up like they did with Star Trek Online.

  • Music is a bit inappropriate.

  • better not be like dungeons and dragons online that game fucking sucks.. well some of the dungeons are fun

  • Yay, new Neverwinter game! = D

It better be a real D&D game. >.<

  • They realised how shitty setting was Forgotten Realms so they destroyed it almost completely to make it more acceptable. Salutations, Wotc.

  • Vie for monthly fees! I wish mmorpgs like eve, wow, rift and stuff were free, i eould actually play them. Even the old republic will have monthly fees :(

  • i think nwn1 is the best, nwn2.... well.... has more rich features but is a little bit buggy for me.... in both i really don't have things to complain but only the speed of the game is a little too slow (i assume that's how DnD works) other than that i don't expect any thing taken away from the previous 2 games......

  • @chantimothy get a good computer dude, nwn2 is definitely better than the tasteless nwn1, after all it is made by the guys from famed black isle

  • i want nwn3, not this online,i want play alone

  • only online ?:(

  • Please, please, please!!! Not another "I bash everything" MMORPGish hack'n'slash with no depth!

Let THIS be the new Planscape: Torment!

Let THIS be the new Baldur's Gate 2!

Let THIS be the new Dragon Age: Origin!

(and please, don't even think about making a new bug-game like Daggerdale!)

  • @NeatWolf Daggerdale was greatest game ever, don't know what you're talking about

  • @NeatWolf I dont think you're in for much luck there pal :|

  • @Cablesfish Yep, I saw that, I sadly saw that T___T

Another microtransaction game filled with WTB, WTS and people screaming and jumping down the roofs, boo-bye roleplaying! T__T

I'm crossing my fingers for Mass Effect 3 now... *sob*

  • @NeatWolf

"Let THIS be the new Baldur's Gate 2!"

    lol, it won't.

It'll be the new wow, I could bet money on that.

  • @CollectivePreference *sob* Unfortunately you're right T_T

  • @NeatWolf your forgot neverwinter nights 1 and 2, both of the neverwinter nights games are better than dragon age

  • Can we go back to the tactical mercenary band style rpg like Baldurs Gate or Icewind Dale? Dragon Age origins was a step in the right direction but no one wanted to follow it up.

  • Hello? Plot? Are you in there? If this has lots of big swords, micropayments and an overwhelming stench of commercialisation, then I'm not going to be paying for it.

  • Wtfs, how'd I miss this

  • I'm really hoping this will be a good mix of NWN2 & a bit of hack and slash. Which is what it resembles. Although to be honest I enjoyed the creation aspect more then the games themselves. Which from what I read this is suppose to have a good one. Although I'm not a huge fan of the people initially working on it, but whatever.

  • @BrokenCydeDF Yeah, it's the creation aspect that made those games so good and I didn't even create much anything myself, just enjoyed the great content people put on the net for me do download. If it had been just the official campaigns, I might have played them once or twice and then left the games forgotten in my hard drive until the next system upgrade, after which I wouldn't reinstall them.

  • This going to be like the old NWN games?

  • wtf is wrong with the spider and the dragon? it makes me feel like i'm watching a cartoon with clowns

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

  • You know something's wrong when you see Hasbro's logo and immediately think ponies...

  • ...from a developer who introduced custom race to Star Trek MMO... get off my DnD you A-holes! :(

  • @dizzt19 Oh noes, they allow the player to be creative! Burn them!

  • I don't mind if it's an Online RPG or the fact that it has only 5 classes and it's based on the 4th edition. I want a beautiful, dark, realistic setting, theme, story and world with a toolset and gameplay as great or even better than the first game with the ability to bar shit heads from ruining my time. Cryptic Studios, you better not fucking fail me or by the Lord Ao and Bane, I will burn you all to ashes and make sure you all are truly forgotten. That goes for you too Atari.

  • I was in hurry to write this so i forgot some words.

  • If turn Neverwinter in MMO or online, blood will flow,I am going to cut there throats, dozens of blood will flow moherfuckers.Don't be fags,MMO is for fucking assholes with low inteligence, neverwinter was single player and should with inteligent story and quests and must stay like that because if diferent it won't be the same game yet some fucking piss of shit,i want to play solo you fuckers!!!

  • *Sees the Hasbro Logo* I don't there's going to be a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.

  • so is this an MMO or singleplayer game (with co-op) ? I actually hope the second (more and better story/variety). And is this an open world game ?

  • This better be a good game, It already looks too colorful for forgotten realms

  • @Qdot543 Implying Forgotten Realms wasn't already very colourful.

  • @Shodex4 The art style doesn't look like it would be a forgotten realms game. For reference, I think demon stone's art style looked spot on.

  • @Qdot543 I suppose you're right. Maybe it's just because I was first introduced in to the Forgotten Realms via the books. So I, from the start, envisioned it as a high fantasy/colourful world.

  • @Shodex4 It is defiantly high fantasy, but because of the wealth of the world, its characters and races backstors ( or what ever ) are extremely flushed out. The overtop colour scheme subtracts from its realistic and believable feel. Thats my opinion anyway. The art style wouldn't really be the main factor in this type of game. I just hope their custom content tools are as powerful and flexible as the original.

  • Wait. Is this a MMO? Or is it just like the Neverwinter's before it?

  • Hmm, I'm afraid they'll ruin the good name of Neverwinter. Should have let Obsidian do it. They are the only one who still make decent RPGs these days. Not saying I'm not buying this one, but I'll do my research before I do.

  • @Kissamiess Obsidian is the underdog company people call in to make decent squeals while they do other things. Bethesda (who is another very competent RPG centric company) got them to make New Vegas to cover their tracks while they worked on Skyrim.

  • The graphics sucks, we hope that is not a failure as Daggerdale.

  • I would like a turn-based role-playing game

  • everybody wants a slice from mmo pie it seems but for gods sake please stop. so many mmo are allready out and lots being in production... i would very much like and buy new neverwinter but not as online game, aswell i would certainly do same if there would be new knights of the old republic... but all are just online games...

  • @KZVenscara Honestly, I would rejoice that it's Cryptic instead of Obsidian. I dunno, Obsidian doesn't ruin games, they just make them mediocre.

  • Can someone please help me clarify? The devs have said this game is not really an MMO, but more of an OMG (online multiplayer game) or co-op RPG. What does that mean? I picture it like Guild Wars or DDO where its a public town, with instances (in this case) user created content around it. They've also said that wasn't the case and that it wasnt like that. They also said that it would have an auction house and bank so there must be some kind of public town/area with adventures around it. Help?

  • @BigMike4Sale So basically what I want to know is: are there any public areas whatsoever where i can run into other random players? I was hoping it would be this kind of public area in the main town/areas, and then any user created content, story lines, and quests in instances outside of it.

  • you know what would be really epic ... if you could play for different factions instead of just being "adventurers".Like Choose a race: Dwarf - Mithrill Hall , Drow - Menzoberranzan , Human, Elves, Halflings and Dwarves - Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Silvermoon, Gnomes - Svirfneblin ... subraces. Like play a race, but for a specific faction or rather - choose where to live, buy a house, castle, magetower, thieves guild, merchant guild and have wars and territory battles like in EVE online...

  • this could be done SO epic ... and like when you have a player controlled settlement , make trade-routes, exports imports, crafted by different players ... dwarven forges , gnome miners , elven magic ... operable items, siege machines, traps created by rogues or the designer of the strongholds. custom portals for mages to specific locations ... Chapels for different faiths if you play a cleric - providing blessings and healing, resurrection, curing diseases for travellers = money, donations etc

  • this looks EEEPIIIIC !

  • 1/3rd of this video is the damned company logo's..

  • I always felt that Dragon Age was what Neverwinter Nights 2 should have aspired to be.

Trailer seems to show Neverwinter being less dark than NWN, More like NWN2, but it seems to want to refer to itself as divorced from those two games, let's see what happens...

  • Thumbs up if you miss the old but gold Neverwinter Nights

  • @aagxd:

I dont miss the old NWN, but that is because I play it several times a week on a CoPAP world. Join us for real good roleplay and enjoy the new additions.

    Check for Confederation_of_Planes_and_Planets on wikipedia.

  • What the fuck is wrong with you.

Bethesda is great,Elder Scrols 5 soon.

  • Haters you are big haters :D Cryptic has a very good ideas and actually they are very good studio. Atari was bad producer and you will see with this game :D. Cryptic engine is one of the best on the market. About Bioware - they have huge dev team, a lot of money from EA but we will see what will be SWTOR. For now is nothing more then WOW. I am sure if Crypic had 80 mln for STO, STO would be far better game then others MMO.

  • O M F G :D looks pretty

  • looks nice, i hope is not a another slasher bs

  • Dear Cryptic: Please get absorbed by someone else and focus exclusively on character generation for other studios games.

    Signed,

    Years of disappointed gamers

  • It's not a MMO, it's a optional co-op action-RPG game.

  • I'm really hoping this turns out to be a good rpg game.

The game industry needs to do the D&D license justice again, like the good old days of Black Isle Studios and the Infinity Engine.

  • so this will play like neverwinter nights?

  • I've seen drows??? ORGASM!

  • DONT DO IT! IT'S MADE BY CRYPTIC THE WORST GAME DEVELOPERS EVER!

    You'll see.. you'll all see...

    beware!

  • @abkewl5 Dear moron, please paint a sign that you can hang around your neck and go to the streets spewing your doomsday hypotheses.

  • looks very good, but thats not enough

  • Am I missing something? From every bit of info I can find, this is NOT an MMO.

    It's just a 5-player co-op RPG.

At most, it could be similar to GW, but that's doubtful.

  • @XXXVerve Thank you, finally someone who sees this too.

  • Fuck off Cryptic Studios. You're a horrible studio. You're gonna ruin the franchise. Fucking troll studio is what you are.

    Hand it to Bethesda/Bioware/Obsidian.

    Bunch of derps.

  • @steffen54321

Bethesda and Bioware both are fkin shit console fags now, Obsidian is the only last decent RPG maker on PC.

  • @Eravenus Stop being a narrow-minded idiot. Bethesda still rock. Bioware HAVE sold out though. (Shudder to think about DA2.)

My point is that they HAVE the skill. Cryptic Studios do not.

  • @Eravenus lol console fags? listen up, not every has enough money to buy a decent computer. and just because you play on console doesn't mean you're brain-dead. (although PC elitism DOES seem to make people dumber, seeing how close-minded they get...)

And for your information, Obsidian made Fallout New Vegas, which was released on consoles, and was FAR inferior to Fallout 3, made by Bethesda, both technically and as a game.

  • @ofnir123 To be fair to Obsidian they were working with an engine that they weren't as familiar with as Bethesda was, and had less time since I'm POSITIVE that there were executives breathing down their necks to get the game out as fast a possible.

Its the same business model that a lot of the major companies are taking, get the game out, fix it later as glitches and errors show up. If they can get 10k people do the late stage beta testing for free, they'll do it. We HATE it, but they'll do it.

  • Fuck yeah! I have missed Neverwinter nights. Although this isn't nwn 3 it still looks great.

  • Atari's still around?

  • Comment removed

  • Ohh god, i focking hate Cryptic. All their MMOs suck be it champions online or star trek and their engine is too cartoonish and amateur.

CRYPTIC drop this project and hand it back to the real RPG developers, you know who it is.....

  • I dont know, It can be the best mmo ever, or it can be a giant fail...

I love nwn 1 and i like nwn 2 so i hope this game would be more a nwn 1 multiplayer with a open world, we will see it ! :D

    peace

  • cool

  • looks great to me

  • If it's a true D&D game = Buying

If it's a consolish button masher like Daggerdale = Not buying.

    Simply as that.

  • @RyuRanXII Pretty much my fears as well. Button mashing, check. FPS-shooter-style camera, check. Colorful enemies, check. Super ultra high magic with floating cities, check.

  • @RyuRanXII Son, there's something you should know about 4e...

  • @RyuRanXII Any game in the Neverwinter series (originally based off the Baldur's Gate series) is going to be actual D&D rules, with thought & strategy behind it. Don't worry about this, this looks to fulfill the gap we've all had in our lives for a long time.

  • @RyuRanXII i want it to stay true to NWN 1 and improve. If that happens it'll be great.

  • @RyuRanXII It'll probably be neither - chances are it will be designed more like a conventional MMO. Nonetheless I will be interested to see how 4e translates into video game format, since it was influenced by modern videogame design.

  • @RyuRanXII A true D&D game is one you make yourself.

I'll be buying the game if it's better than NWN2, which I still thoroughly enjoyed.

  • I don't want a bunch of other asshats running around ruining the experience for me, I want to play alone when I play neverwinter, and if I want to play with other people, I will play with a select group of people I know PERSONALLY.

This game already seems to be going the FTP route with Micro-payments for " better" gear.

I think MMO's suck and Neverwinter's awesome, drop this, give the Neverwinter franchise to bioware/obsidian/bethseda and make Neverwinter 3 instead!

  • @TotalitarianPacMan

Okay, you hate MMOs, glad to hear it. Most people don't hate MMOs.

If you want to play alone, don't play an MMO, seems simple as that :P

  • @GayLPer u can play this game alone and use AI henchmen instead

  • @TotalitarianPacMan u can play alone and use AI henchmen instead

  • @TotalitarianPacMan

    THANK GOD a normal person

  • @TotalitarianPacMan Why would you want obsidian to make the new NWN havent you seen what they did with nwn2? and bethseda pfff they would make another elder scroll game out of it like they did with Fallout.

  • @BoRISxBoT I thought fallout 3 and NW2 were good games.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan

I thought that they were making this a coop multiplayer game, Ie the multiplayer function from NWN1 and 2 but...No singleplayer? Possibly.

In any case, I can't see it going FTP with micro-payments. They already announced that they will definitely allow for player hosted servers and players can make their own content, like in past games. I think this will be more akin to Diablo, which I'm alright with. As long as it's still D&D and not like Daggerdale...

  • @TotalitarianPacMan It's not an mmo, it's an action RPG with online co-op multiplayer and content sharing. You can play alone if you want to, or team up with friends.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan Exactly how I feel. You have no idea how RELIEVED that Bethesda didn't make Skyrim a mmo and that they still primarily focus on single player open world games (although I would love to see atleast a two player Elder Scrolls game someday).

I think that that's a business model that Bioware needs to get back to. KOTOR was one of my favorite games for the 360, but I wouldn't touch Old Republic if they paid me GRATUITOUS amounts of money to do so.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan Good thing for you, this isn't an MMO, it's an OMG (online multi-player game). You CAN play with friends or you CAN play it solo, it's really up to you when it comes to this game, but it is not being called an MMORPG.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan cryptic has been VERY good with their microtransaction system. They provide things that are appealing but do not break the game. Champions Online does not offer better gear or anything. You can get things like a limited exp boost period, more storage or a limited time npc henchman. There are other options, but they're also not overpowered in any manner. Actually, in Champions, the F2P players are disadvantaged a little against those that pay a monthly subscription fee.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan I think they will stay pretty true. They're allowing players to use the toolset and create their own worlds, so I don't see how there won't be community developed servers for people to play on, such as Layonara and Howards LoTR.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan you read my mind.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan true that. this looks like a rip off. WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY RUINING THE BEST FRANCHISE IN GAME HOSTORY. WHY DO THEY WANT US TO FEEL DISGUSTED WHEN WE THINK, O NO ANOTHER D&D GANME GONE BAD. wizards of the caost shouldnt sell licences to shitty games. please prttect this last bastion of real rpgs. end the MMO shit fuckers

  • @TotalitarianPacMan If i read correctly this game is online, not massive, that means it will be like nwn where small comunities get to build their story and roleplay, and thats what made nwn GREAT, and thats why its still being played today, and thats what i think they are aiming for.

true, bioware seems to dev good games (mostly corridor games with a solid story), and obsidian tends to make huge games with a lot of deept but also kind of unstable. but we still need to give other devs a chance.

  • @TotalitarianPacMan Maybe you should actually read up about the game. You sound clueless.

  • Comment removed

  • @TotalitarianPacMan actually they said its not a mmo, or thats what a read on wikipedia and 2 other sites. so there may not be random doushbags. that or when they say "its not and mmo in the sense of zones and hundreds of players", they mean like in movies when they say tons of action when all there is is talking, meaning evryone is cramped in one server. but lets hope i get to choose who i play with like what wikipedia said, or for people who love mmos, have some system to find people

  • @TotalitarianPacMan DDO was a great MMO specifically because it had tools to deal with asshats. The big one is single-instance dungeons, so your party participates in a dungeon without worrying about being in there with other parties. Plus, a great combat system.

  • This could be really good or a huge let down. Props on the blue dragon but that makes me wonder if there's a desert setting *shrugs*. The trailer looks nice but I want game play videos to persuade me.
