Just to make a point. White rice keeps longer than brown without going rancid. Brown rice requires more fuel to cook. Two huge reasons why white rice won out.
@ Darksanctuary, Your state that going faster means consuming more fuel. "I want it to go faster and consume more fuel" is what people want. Difficult-to-digest foods slow the metabolism and cause the body to ask for more fuel (food) to digest with it. The less efficient our digestion is, the more food our bodies will ask for. And the less energy we will have for moving around and being active. I'm sorry you don't like my analogy. For many people it makes sense.
I stopped watching when he used that piss poor analogy. The proper one would be I want my car to consume more fuel, therefore I attach a trailer on the back. Making your metabolism go "faster" means to consume more fuel. He fails.
@DarkSanctuaryBBS You missed the point he was making, your analogy makes a different point. The people have said amount of fuel in the stomach, a car with the trailer would be the crap food slowing your digestion down hence the idea people have, the efficient car is without the trailer. the trailer is the food digesting because IT slows you down and takes more fuel than you already have in your stomach to propel the added weight of the slow digestion.
I run the marathon for over ten years. I train and run with my white rice. I am also a farmer and produce white rice, brown rice, red, and black rice. Also, produce string beans, eggplants, corn, coconuts, avocado, banana, jackfruit, etc...
@ 85D, yes white rice is better for dieting. A wide variety of grains (and everything) is best, but you can have more white rice than any other grain.
@rvavelasco- I don't understand. The Chinese have been eating white rice for millenia, every day and mostly every meal, and have much less diabetes and obesity than we. What is wrong with things being easy to digest? Difficult digestion does not tone-up the metabolism. The digestive system is not a muscle- it does not get stronger with increased workload. It is an organ system. The harder we make its job, the slower it will work (slower metabolism). Can you explain why easy is bad?
Anything mantled with by people and changed is going to be worse for you Today due to gov we humans lost our sence to understand what we need to eat every day
White rice is a decent food, but it's not a whole grain. Brown rice may have phytic acid, but it has more of certain types of nutrients, especially vitamin B1. Diets with white rice instead of brown were instrumental in discovering that the disease beriberi was caused by vitamin B1 deficiency.
Both white and brown rice have their benefits, and you can get your vitamin B1 from other sources or enriched rice. Foods aren't bad; it all depends on your entire diet.
this is fantastic! I really appreciate this lecture. I simply don't like brown rice, but I LOVE white rice. Finally I found something in my favor! Hehe

I love this! Spot on. Especially since I have fructose malabsorption and can't eat brown rice.
Great lecture - thanks for posting.
