I listened to this song on the beach at night when I was 24( 1969)...The lyric " a quarter of my life is almost past" meant to me I would live to be 96. I was sitting on the beach thinking of and missing my fiance greatly who was away in another state doing an internship. So this song had special meaning to me.
@savage01100 The association did a version on their lp waterbeds in trinadad but this is the best version along with the spoonful doing it on the ed sullivan show
beat your crazy head against the sky....it's okay to shoot the moon? no! it is not okay to shoot anything....i put two ladybugs out last night.....what do you call a male ladybug?
@2georgeorwell Your namesake would know....it's a ladybug....also, shooting the moon means to give something everything you have...BTW this song is great! The Spoonful had as much talent as the Beatles but were not as flashy (or troubled).
My favourite Spoonful track, this is the best version. Loved this ever since I bought a tape of the Lovin' Spoonful whilst driving round New England, brings back nice memories.
Excellent quality video, thanks. Lovely, sensitive song, and yes juejue07, Slade Alive album contains an awesome cover which shows in how much respect John and The Spoonful` are held.
love this

It's a great song, I enjoyed the graphics but the instruments buried the lyrics, that's the reason for the middle of the road rating

This song was one of the most romantic scenes ever brought in a film. 'You're a big boy now'. Great, timeless...........
