Irish Anti-immigrationists are being proven right day by day, bye bye Ireland.
That's outside the Library, I pass it every day! it used to power the woollen mill that was at the top of Bridge street, which is where that is... I hate that hill, haha but I love living in Bantry, I go to the school just up da road from there, did you see it?, it's up a big hill =D
There is something magical about waterwheels,Perhaps they could make a comeback saw a Nationwide Programme on rte recently in Co.Waterford where one of these was supplying electricity for a small community and keeping a Mill going.
I finally found out - its a copy, built to mark the millenium. Originally the wheel powered a flour mill back in 1824 and then after 100 years the site was turned into a woollen mill before being closed down in 1939 with the arrival of a power station in the town.

It would be great if they used it to generate some power, but we did have 300 % of usual rqainfall this month, and another week to go...

We were thinking the same thing, I may email the council see if they do although I doubt it. The waterfalls over the Healy Pass were amazing !
