It was always my understanding that a riddle required some form of lateral thinking rather than simply answering a posed question. If your definitions were the case, then someone asking me "how many glasses of water [I've] had throughout the week" or "what is [my] favorite movie made before 1970" would constitute as a riddle.

In my opinion this 'riddle' Pat models this joke after is in actuality an anti-joke, with the punchline being 'you're sexist'.

Here is a more accurate definition..

Riddle: a question or statement so framed as to exercise one's ingenuity(the quality of being cleverly inventive or resourceful) in answering it or discovering its meaning; conundrum.

To answer correctly one had to be clever enough to look past the stereotype doctor image. Yes it was an anti-joke about how the riddle proves how sexist people are when they don't know the answer. Sure it does test how sexist one is, but it still is a riddle.
