They Politicians in Washington had voted against giving Task Force Ranger (thats the whole task force deployed to Somailia) armored personnel carriers and tanks. So the covoy only had lightly armored HUMVEES and 5 to trucks. The convoy got shot to pieces and had to return to base before they could go back out. Read "In the Company of Heroes"
they didn't tell many people cause it was only supposed to take thirty minutes, and the humvee convoy was hit by so many RPG's that if they showed up they would have caused more harm than good.

Even if the miniguns worked they wouldnt have used them because they would have ended up mowing down hundreds of civilians.
Hence why they had no aerial support through miniguns, and also they werent allowed to risk more chops.

i read in the book, tht they died great americans, and tht we lost about 18 men tht day, we could have saved these 2 great perople if only the Secretary of Defense allowed us to bring in the armored vehichles task force rangers asked for (like a tank)

mini guns on the chopper only work when the chopper is at least hovering over the ground(when the choppper is in flight) so when i crasehed the mini guns went offline

Before that they were basing their tactics on WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and various spe ops missions, but '93 helped them prepare for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It's unfortunate the M-134 only works when the UH-60 is working... =(

Again. The minigun is dependent on the power outage of the Blackhawk. So the helicopter has to be operational and running to use the miniguns.

my dad was friends with Randy Shugart...but not Gary...n i got to meet with Michael J. Durant n he said he doesnt know how these two were killed like if Gordon was shot n the head or if Shugart took 13 bullets ...but these two are outstanding remarkable soldiers n will never be forgotten

They all died. Not all of them were killed in the crash. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure the crew chiefs(gunners) died after Gordon and Shugart arrived.

the co pilot was defending off the somalis with shugart and gordon, the crew chief couldnt fight, his legs were messed up, and durant was against a tree next to the black hawk. its all in the book
