  • I'M SPEECHLESS

  • this guy looks like amish mafia

  • What happened to the world? This is real music!

  • Sage is sage.

  • amazing

  • They left the door open because the best illusions are only half real.......

  • thrash metal is just modern day punk rock! but death metal is ill,

  • sage got me through high school alive!

  • ehh...

  • I love Sage's plot-driven songs.

  • What a gracious frog leap over that puddle. Nice touch.

  • i dont really know why everyones talking about metal on this video but i listen to metal (specifically death metal, thrash and old school hardcore) and i frequently see strong ties between them and hardcore rap and old school hiphop. All aggressive musics, generally 'of the streets', low fi production, key focus on negative parts of life (inequality, hate etc.) and the politics of the two are almost identical....don't hate on either, the audience of the two are one and the same

  • damn, I was just talking to somebody cool about this on omegle. I hope they see the comment, as it's the first one on youtube.

  • @robertdolan92 It's possible that was me, as I was showing this over omegle for no real reason. :b

  • @BurglaryoftheSenses I don't think so, because I was the one showing people... but it is a good song. lol

  • Great. Now I gotta look for that 187bdawg comment... -__-

  • DJ-PON3 sent me,

  • @HiJustCallMeSam I guess ponies know hip hop

  • i want a beard like sages :D

  • @low72 MTV once played all types of influential hip hop. From ATribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Rakim, KRS ONE, Guru and the list goes on. Now granted they aired these artists videos mostly in the early/mid-90's but times have changed. Mtv's format today does suck in my opinion but thankfully we have the Internet to find, watch and listen to artists like Sage. Dont blame MTV for trying to stay relevant, blame A.D.D.

  • We have become a nation of zombies.

  • bt sent me

  • After hearing this song alone time ago, i finally typed it and found this music video....I imagined something different

  • Why aren't artists like this on MTV? Oh yeah, because MTV & the people that watch it couldn't handle Sage. They've never heard intelligent true hip hop, with actual lyrics. Sage has his own genre, and I don't know wtf it is.

  • Dude, MTV doesn't even play music anymore. Where the hell have you been since 1998?

  • @Jinxerz010792 lol why would anyone watch mtv in the first place?

  • Demented sent me!

  • this is to good to be real

  • the truth is that progression isn't always easily comprehended and this is truly the hip hop that will teach others how to continue the progression of hip hop. you take art and add to it. You study it and make your own. Some will always be more artistic then others.

  • hahaha u say hip i say shut the fuck up

  • says something about the music when a video this cool is not even being talked about

  • I only got 2 words, Lyrical Genious!

  • When he went fast it sounded a little like Tech N9ne... not bad. Thumbs UP

  • sage is a poet more than anything

    \/\/\/\/ new hip hop

  • @Prolific Pandas

Cool. He totally did. Word for word. Verbatim.

  • I listen to Death Metal and despise rap but this is pretty good

  • @AdamR702

    Death Metal sucks.

  • @raidfridge no it doesn't nothing sucks you just suck for saying it sucks

  • @raidfridge That's like saying all rap sucks. It's a gross generalization that says nothing but negative things about the person speaking it.

  • @ihitterdal

No, it means I got my head on straight I don't listen to crap like Death Metal. I love Rock N Roll in general. From Amon Amarth to Judas Priest to Pink Floyd to Cream to Black Sabbath to GNR, Tool, Opeth, Alice In Chains, to ACDC, etc. To many to list. Death Metal not so much.

  • Comment removed

  • @raidfridge Opeth and and Amon Amarth are death metal, silly.

  • @BurglaryoftheSenses thats a funny joke

  • lost me when you said "ish" fuck this!

  • el-p on the stairs

  • @supermadvillian \\really?

  • @nolanduarte yeah 22 seconds i think

  • Sage Fracis! His music makes sense! Dude, is a legend!

  • i barely listen to rap, hate most of it. but this is just amazing! why cant more rap artists rap from the heart like this guy?

  • @AdAyToReMeMbErReR There are a lot actually. A LOOOT... Artists from Def Jux, Rhymesayers, Strange Famous, Anticon, Living Legends, DoomTree, etc. All would peak your interest.

  • @187bdawg I like how you copied that verbatim from that list of Top 10 Intellectual Rappers.

  • @ProlificPandas like lmao he totally did <3 stumble

  • @ProlificPandas Im happy you like it

  • @ProlificPandas Thats how i found out about this rapper.

  • @187bdawg lol why the hell did you just copy this? what are you trying to prove? wastin ur time lol

  • This man has inspired my poetry and my facial hairstyle.

  • This guys pretty sick

  • eshcape artisht

  • @VietcongQuikscopes sean connery?

  • Censored /:

  • imekää paslaa

  • fukin beast

  • You can't compare Apathy to Sage...

  • Demigods ( Apathy, celph titled...etc) is pretty good, but its different hip hop. You can't fucking compare. That's like saying Nas to lil wyne. Its all DIFFERENT. So when it comes down to it, its about what relates to what person, and what beat makes their head bob. RESPECT MUSIC FOR MUSIC, because what it brings you, other songs bring to other people.

  • @LittlemissBlasphemy It's NOT like comparing Nas to Lil Wayne. AOTP and Sage are BOTH amazing.

  • I don't get him. The metaphor is too obvious, and his flow just seems... off.

  • sage goes in all fields

  • My gf just told me about this guy. I punched my self in the face for not hearing of him earlier. This guy is awesome!

  • is the guy from common market?

  • God I love this song

  • Peep Sapientkills on Youtuberoo..

  • 0:30 Cleanest pair of toilets I've ever seen at a place like that

  • okay i love tyler i also love sage francis. there is no feud you dont have to tace sides. if you analyze both of their lyrics you will see the same message.

  • DIVERSE is an awesome rapper also, search that up, his album One A.M

  • amazing lyricist!! big up!! check out uk female rapper shay d!! peace!!

  • @stormtrooper971

I think Thebuzzati is trying to hint that YOUR spelling is not very good

  • @DieJamesSA immortal teqnique

  • Dear Youtube. I need help. I'm sick of my music...I want to dabble in Hip Hop a little more...My fav artists are Sage Francis and Aesop Rock. Any help as to what type of groups I should check out? Please hook me up.

  • @DieJameSA P.O.S is amazing

  • @DieJameSA immortal technique is VERY good. others like task force, lowkey, rhyme asylum (UK) rakim, nas, gang-starr, mf doom, slick rick etc. are also ones to check out.

  • @DieJameSA Army of the Pharaohs, Jedi Mind Tricks, 7L & Esoteric, Celph Titled, RA The Rugged Man, Vinnie Paz, Styles of Beyond, East Coast Avengers, DC The MIDI Alien, Non Phixion etc.

  • @DieJameSA Beastly Hip-Hop List: 1.Tyler the Creator- Yonkers 2. Odd Future- Orange Juice 3. Das Racist- Rapping 2 U 4. Rob Roy- Gold and Gucci 5. Madvillain - ALL CAPS 6. Yelawolf- Daddy's Lambo 7. Riitz- Blowing my Mind. :))

  • @Thexxweekend Dude. Thanx for references. I love everything except Yelawolf. Downloaded the others...been listening like crazy. (specially Madvillain)

  • @Thexxweekend dont even mention that odd future/tyler the creator junk on this video of real hip hop

  • @ballap23 with all do respect to both you and sage, the yonkers VIDEO is prity dope.

  • Honestly, this is not that good.

  • @TheBuzzati your not that good. at everything

  • @stormtrooper971 My what is not that good at everything? I don't understand.

  • @TheBuzzati in otherwards your as bad as your friends. why dont you put down the drugs and listen to other of his music so shut your face and get a life and move out of that box. call me once you get a life at 1800-i dot give a crap

  • @stormtrooper971 Wait - my what is as bad as my friends. I'm still not getting it.

  • @TheBuzzati at anything, ha ha

  • On the Road reading Kerouac, It's poetry versus battle raps.

    I love that line.

  • I was not talking about apathy the artist

  • 2pac and biggie are the best escape artist

  • MF DOOM? I like his flow. I also like Sage. Personal Journals is in my top 5 albums of all time.

  • Sage looks like the guy from Common Market.

  • @alohatil, You mean Ra Scion? yea his dope too. Sole, B. Dolan, Ill Bill, 2Mex, Qwel, etc. has long beard also, so it is strange that rap artist with long beards always makes good music. :P and is even more weird that am talking about this stuff XD

Either way, good to know a fan knows the rap seattle scene.

  • Can I just say that I find it strangely sexy the way he strokes his beard? *shifty eyes*

  • Ultimately, Sage Francis is a true poet at heart. Yes, some may hear this and believe it akin to rap, or a more broad term, hip hop. That's perfectly fine, because your opinion should be respected and unique to yourself. I believe that is what, after all, Sage Francis would want. Personally, I am a passionate fan of writing, in any genre, but I have already struggled to enjoy poetry. Sage Francis made me enjoy it. His lyrics are deep, so you need to be open when listening, or you won't enjoy it.

  • Arguing over whom is at the metaphorical apex of lyrical mastery (or meaning) seems to be the antithesis of what Sage Francis is all about. He has never 'sold out,' he is not mainstream and never will be. Is that bad? Unless you believe being mainstream = talent, than no, it isn't. Look at current mainstream artists, or rappers, and I'm sorry, most fall short of meeting the already established standard for talented artists. While the music may be entertaining, much of it lacks heart, or emotion.

  • Gotta love Sage!

  • this mans music has made me feel ok to be me.

  • @punk19 rofl

  • @john69THEbaptist y rofl ?

  • @punk19

you should feel ok about being you anyway bro. Fuck what anyone else thinks.

  • hahahahaha stupid people. spaller100 is talking about apathy as a concept.

  • looks like it was filmed at the Dominion in Ottawa.

  • 0:22 Supreme tee :D

  • Love this shit

  • @admsayrs word..incinerator is bad ass..what u know about that? most of these internet hiphop kids only rock that trendy indy...they have no depth..

  • @1000rtodd Dude thats what i'm getting at too. The raw style indy artists are the deepest intellectually and the most thought provoking, not to mention the beats. No one sees this nowadays.

  • This is a really really interesting music video. I've never seen anything like this. Real creative. love it.

  • @admsayrs I think he is referring to the concept of apathy rather than the artist called apathy, though I could be mistaken.

  • this video is super cool!

  • 610k? sad.

  • Know what I hate most about these videos?

In the comments, I see almost nothing about just the artist in the video. It's almost always "DERP DERP BETTER THAN LIL' WAYNE", "I HATE THE MAINSTREAM SHIT", "DERP DERP BITCH WHINE". Can't we just pay attention to the one the video is about rather than bitching about the stuff we don't like as if it gives us a better social status?

  • @BurglaryoftheSenses Thank you thank you kind person. you speak only truths, thank you again.

  • kick ass, looooove sage, great artist

  • this the shit

  • Don't go here unless you think you can handle what you will hear, it's scary,,. Scary good. This guy might be the next superstar of rap /watch?v=6lvLl_ra_8U

  • what the hell is he talking about? who gives a shit!

  • this is real rap. rappers like sage rap for real. lil wayne and rappers like him are good and can ryme a bit but not like sage...,real rapper. others should step off ha. but what are some underground rappers like sage?

  • @ColorOfMyBenz ....check out my friend C. Str8...very conscious...type in "C. Str8 - Life is a Joke Freestyle"...all of his songs have a sociopolitical connotation and are pretty well-written

  • you listen to lil wayne u hould be raped an shoot for not knoening shit about music.

  • @dennispdavis you should learn to spell before you comment. I don't like wayne either, but it took me five minutes to decipher your little hate letter.

  • damm i used to love this song

  • ...and this guy is performing at las vegas's extreme thing? haha wow...

  • Wake up you people. Apathy is a disease and sage Francis is a true poet.

Not many exist on planet earth at the moment. A few who do are Sage and the likes of B.Dolan, Slug, Eyedea rip, Immortal Tech, Cage, EL-P, Scroobius Pip, AllFlaws,

Saul Williams, Aesop Rock, Lowkey, Brother Ali

  • @spaller100

    comparing Sage to Slug...hmm....

not sure of many rappers that can use imageries and metaphors like Sage, maybe Lupe Fiasco.

  • @concerto404 POS usually has rhyme taktikz similar to slug. He does go alittle further than slug but still not as deep as Sage

  • @spaller100 el-p is not a poet.. sorry. he should just stick to production.

  • @lllllpcplllll nah, its just over your head

  • All of those guys are TRUE artists. Your comment is spot-fucking-on my friend. Peace to you , bud.

  • @spaller100 also Wax, Mos Def, Talib kweli, a tribe called quest, jay electronica, little brother, and Nas

  • @trainofaaron wax? wax?!! bahahaha. stfu you internet nerd hipphopper..how the fuck are you going to put wax in the same sentence as talib kweli, mos, tribe.....and not to mention Nas? you dont know sheite.

  • @1000rtodd Look asshole I didint reply to your comment to here your opinion on who i listen to. This is what u probely do all day shit on other peoples likes because if it doesint meet your standards you talk shit behind your little computer screen, you self center fuck. Wax is a fucken great artist and your the one that doesint know shit about music. Matter fact why dont you go listen to some of his stuff.

  • @trainofaaron i heard wax's shit like two years ago,and some of his new stuff he's the dude that all the idiots think is freestylin in his his videos when his shit is clealry written.so again, wax doesnt belong in the same discussion as talib, mos..and def not Nas. its not that wax is bad..its just he is nothing comapred to the artists you grouped him in with. that'slike me listin g the greatest baseball players of all time.ted williams, babe ruth, and little jimmy from around the block, bahaha

  • @1000rtodd Lol i can understand what your saying he's not nearly as famous as the ones I listed but Iv'e been listening to his shit since he started and he's just been rising faster then anyone, and not that all his stuff is freestyled but that video new crack definitly is. He came out with this album called food and alchol its mad ill. But no hard feelings peace

  • @trainofaaron how'd I know you were gonna say new crack is a freestyle A friend of mine saw wax perform in cleveland..he performed new crack, the exact same song. but anyone who knows at least dickone about hiphop knows what a freestyle sounds like and what written raps sound like. just because hes rapping w/o a piece of paper doesnt mean its a freestyle..ugghh

  • @spaller100 you forgot jedi mind tricks and whats wrong with apathy? he is underground to m8

  • @spaller100 Mac Lethal?

  • @spaller100 calm down apathy is good too.

  • @spaller100 its kinda hard to compare apathy and sage....they are two totally different artists, sage is like the snobby stoner college kids music, while apathy is the middle/ working class kids music....apathy is a great lyricist just like sage is, your just a snobby stoner college kid, therefore you don't like him

  • @qaaganuuk i'm working class and a stoner but not snobby so i have know idea what the fuck your talking about UG4L

  • @spaller100 best comment ive seen in awhile and some of the best artists :)

  • @spaller100

    how about this

"holiest of things" its on my channel. i think thats a true poem.

  • @spaller100 soul khan, cunninlynguists, tonedeff

  • @spaller100 Wow thank you, I am huge slug, Eyedea and Immortal Tech fan, I appreciate the recommendations definitely worth checking out AllFlaws, Saul Williams, Aesop Rock, Lowkey, Brother Ali

  • @spaller100 cant forget macklemore...poetical genius.

  • @spaller100 Are you talking the rapper 'apathy'

  • @d0zi7 no i was talking about apathy as in being brain dead

  • hes talking into a mic over a computerized drum beat. Theres no difference.

  • there ant' no magic in the brake down baby

  • "Sage"-A mentor in spiritual and philosophical topics who is renowned for profound wisdom

That is what his music is. . . AMAZING

  • O que é essa barba esgruvinhada de mendigo?

  • Lil wanye sucks this was some pretty good flows

  • Sage Francis vs Brother Ali vs Freeway in a beard off.Actually I don't know if Brother Ali is still growing his.

  • as much as i love this song and think the video is kick ass...i just dont understand it. sage makes a lot of stuff that i don't understand. it makes ya think. And I like that.

  • I just simply love this

  • haha SFR= strange famous records?

they should just rename it Sage Francis Records

  • @TheHaloAbove That's the point, It's a play on his name.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • This is prehaps my favorite Sage Francis song. I often have felt this way at different points in my life as an artist. Great song Sage.

  • that beard...
