I've only tried 1 Electromatic (5120) and I thought it was good in terms of look and comfort, but i wasn't convinced by the pickups. When I got the 6119 I was like "wow that guitar must belong to a guitar shop - no way, i just bought it, it belongs to me" in terms of look, the comfort is a bit above the 5120, and I found the sound much more typical of a Gretch. I'm thinking about getting a TV Jones bridge pickup to complete the setup :)
The only thing I was disappointed by was the knobs, the progression isn't linear, they're shit knobs for a guitar of that price (they're the knobs of the 5120). I guess a 6120 has got better knobs.
Keep working on it and you will be carving out your own great stuff.I think at one point in the video,Setzer just rips out some great spontaneous variety of licks and surprised himself. You have skills and a great guitar to use them on.
honetsly ithink it's best to find out yourself, it will train your ear. to make it easier i recorded the audio of the video in a wav file, that i played at half speed. then i looped each lick and learned them by heart (that means i can sing it), then i found the licks on the guitar, then i practiced the entire piece, at reduced speed first indeed.
How do you like the guitar? Much better than an Electromatic?
