In FSX... it's pretty much a crash or land thingy (above 750fps = crash). It is possible to bust up a main gear, but it is very obvious as the airplane will be "tilting" then.
Thanks... I use the "Radio Stack" View and then use Shift+Enter or Shift+Bkspace to Raise/Lower my view in the cockpit... with appropriate Zoom somewhere btwn 0.60 & 0.70. HTHs :-)
Thanks SuperRaptor! Much appreciated! It was "hard" having my son moving the "camera" and me trying to get a decent landing. Been working on these much since then. The FSX T-45 Goshawk by Dino Cattaneo (version 2) is absolutely superb to practice with.
Dude, guess what. I have been trying for 2 and a half yrs now to play the expansion. I finally get a Pc that has a processor that will play it. Its got 2GB of RAM and a 2.88 GHz processor, and guess what. The graphics card that we bought for it needs a 5 volt PCI slot to run. I have a PCI slot, but it only gives 3.3 volts..... Im heart broken man. The Graphics card in my PC doesnt have the shader stuff, so i cant play fsx
@TheGreatOzzie Yea, my rig now how has an AMD Athlon II x635 processor, 8GB RAM, EVGA GTX460, and an OCz Stealth Xtreme 2 600w PSU. Now im running games like Just Cause 2, Mafia 2, FSX: Acceleration with the VRS Superbug on all max settings.
Wow great to hear that! I know very hard when there's a "great program" out you want to use and not being able to because no cash to get one or upgrade.
Google "Dino Cattaneo" (India India Alpha Foxtrot Echo is his website) and download the latest version of his T-45 (freeware). Great plane to have and just a lot of fun to practice carrier landings with it.
Yes it would be neat to show that, as in real life I am sure one would need every lb. of available thrust to become safely airborne again (after a wire or hook failure). But in FSX, it can actually create more problems than it's worth (i.e. lead to a crash). Good "catch" tho. :-)
This is the "Carrier Practice" mission altered to a nite with a full moon. Yes the other "Carrier Landing IMC" you're referring to... yes you are low on fuel (very tough if you don't trap the first time on that one). Whenever I setup now on this mission, is with less than 3000lbs of fuel.
Before clicking "Go To Briefing" at the bottom of the missions window, check the box "Enable changes in selected Mission" Pause the mission, right click to bring up the menu bar and you can make whatever changes there (different aircraft / weather / time & season etc.)
mavrick never flew a f-18

Sorry to hear that oddieboi. Here's to hoping you can find something w/4GB ram and a bit faster cpu (sandy bridge). You will enjoy.

In fighter, jets, they fly so fast, as soon as your off the ground, the gear goes up.
You hit Gear button while your still on the ground, and it will pull the gear up, then yoiu pull up.
