this scene is a perfect example of why Twin Peaks was so amazing. Out of nowhere - incredibly moving scene plumbing into depths of the esoteric and spiritual - knocks you off your feet...and back to humor and drama in just a few moments...
Im a Twin Peaks lover and this scene is one of the best ... Major Briggs was one of the strongest characters in the serie... I want to honour this man. Sad that he didnt lived as long as he deserved......Rest in peace Don S Davis.....U will always be in my heart.
The music playing in this scene at around 5:09. I what is that tune? It was not featured on the original soundtrack (that I can remember). I've never been able to find it because I don't know the name of what I'm looking for. It's great stuff!
The writing in that vision scene is great , but I have to admit I always found it slightly funny because Major Briggs is a major after all. I dunno , lol , something about how that scene crawled in out of nowhere and it being totally isolated from the regular tone of the show : it just made me chuckle a litte after I watched it for the first time.
I remember that untill this scene, I enjoyed the serie's really wierd and bizarre atmosphere. Maybe like Bobby, I was realizing the VERY sudden seriousness and beauty in the words and articulation of the major about his vision. Afterwards I had tears in my eyes and thinking "What the hell just happend?". :-) This scene is so well done and powerful. One of the best 5 minutes in the entire serie.
This is in my top 10 Twin Peaks scenes - Dana Ashbrook's acting is immense. I wish his character could have had more scenes of this nature as the show went on.
Unsurprising this scene evoked what was so great about season 1- Lynch and the writing A-listers were at the helm for this episode and it shows.
