Hi I stepped on the apple side of my MacBook and as soon as I felt it on my foot I jumped off. I made a line in my LCD but its not cracked. Can it be fixed easy or how much if I send it to you.
@PowerbookMedic I have a screen that has only 1 of the three colors, can you tell me what's gone wrong? If it helps at all the one color that is showing is blue... the backlight is functional. In addition the hinge has been broken for a fair while and after the hinge broke the screen started losing its colors...
@MatLabPoop - Color issues are usually related to a damaged LVDS cable. It could also be the LCD, but if your hinge broke it is likely that it also damaged your LVDS cable.
So my backlight has been off for a while, i can still see prrfectly through it with bright light, and i did some research. I think its either the bulb or the inverter. I brought my Mac to a Mac repair store, they diagnosed the problem, and apparently the LCD is causing it. But I'm pretty sure my LCD is fine. I think theyre just saying that so they would replace the whole thing, which will cost more.. What do u think? Thanks for your help.
@anyamunya - It is usually the LCD or the inverter cable. Unfortunately it could also be either the inverter board or the logic board. The only way to diagnose properly is to replace the components to determine which has gone bad.
Hey, I need to replace my screen I was wondering how do I measure my screen to find out the measurements do I measure the plastic or just the visible screen?
hey, my backlight has completely gone. (well actually it flickers on/off) all the time. Is this part of the LCD? Will i be able to fix this if i just replace the LCD?
@goldenflare - Usually that issue will be your inverter board or inverter cable. I'd start by replacing both of those components. It's possible it's the LCD, but to a lesser degree.
@PowerbookMedic Thankyou so much. You were right - I opened up my mac and I'm pretty sure it was just a loose cable - I pushed them all firmly in and since then it seems to work with no flickering. Thankyou!
But now when I turn it on the colors are not natural, it appears to have a violet filter... (hard to explain it) but looks like warm colors, like red tint or something.
I already change the display filters and options... but nothing helps.
@jcmartinez1990 - We sell the LCD for $119.95 at our website. Labor to install is $95 which includes free shipping to our location. So a total of $214.95.
@sbrien31 - Usually LCDs themselves don't get liquid damage, but the other components get the liquid damage and cause the LCD not to function. What exactly the is problem you are experiencing with your screen?
@PowerbookMedic my keyboard broke ones cause of the magnets so thanks bro , you save me a trip to the Apple store + a day or two of waiting for them to install a new keyboard ... again = D.
what happens if i rip out the two wires around the harness, the grey one and the black one, and if its important , and if it is what can i do to fix it ?????
@TheYayo101 - I'm pretty sure you are referring to the wireless cables. Without them your wireless signal will be weak. To fix them you need to replace them.
@PowerbookMedic Hi mate. Just a question. Do I need to remove the lid from the rest of the case before removing the screen or can I pop the frame without removing the whole lid? It's the first time I'm dealing with a Mac. Your help will be appreciated.
@vitormangraviti - You can do it without removing the Display from the base, but it is a little trickier. If you've never done it before, you're better off removing it from the base.
@PowerbookMedic - At a further look and attempt I realize the blue screen light initially comes on bright, then fades to black. Does that symptom point to a specific problem from your experience? And by the inverter cable do you mean the cable coming from the new LCD screen? Thanks for the info.
@donbuddy333 - That could actually be a defective LCD or an LVDS cable that isn't properly connected. There are a few inverter cables. One is from the LCD to the inverter board, and the other is from the inverter board to the logic board.
Please help. I followed all instructions and now my new screen as well as my old screen is black with just the faintest light of the apple visible. I tried reconnecting the new screen five times or more. Can you tell me what to do next?
@donbuddy333 - That's going to be an inverter cable or board issue. Check all your inverter connections as that is what provides backlight to the LCD.
MY screen keeps fading into a dark grey picture then comes right when i have to hold it with my hand on the side, most times its fine but lately its been doing more then often what do i need for this?
i think its like this cause my daughter had dropped our big phone on top while closed but still on! please help!!
So to replace the LCD screen with another new one do you simply re-connect the cables to the new LCD and will it run as normal. where do I get a 13" screen from aswel, I have been able to find 13.3" ones is that the same thing?
my wife's screen can only open 45 degrees, go beyond that and it turns black, move it back and the screen comes on again. apparently this is a common problem. Do you know what part I need to fix this?
@softdev1 - You likely need to replace the inverter cable. The inverter cable and inverter board control the backlight to the display. If the backlight works at certain angles, it indicates the inverter board is likely fine and that the inverter cable is failing or getting pinched.
@PowerbookMedic Is that a simple remove the screen plug in a new cable or is that the unscrew 4,000 screws all around and from the battery compartment, then remove the keyboard and 20 other pieces?
@jandt4ever07 - The inverter board is $49.95. Labor is $95, so the total repair would be $144.95 with free shipping. You can call us at 1-866-726-3342.
Apple is going to charge me almost 800 USD to do the repair and i am not good with his kind of repairing. Does powerbook medic allow you to purchase the LCD screen along with paying your company to repair it for me?
@antgili - We sell the parts and have a send in service as well. If we do the repair, total cost is $213.95 with free shipping. You can call us at 1-866-726-3342.
to remove the whole LCD display assembly( including the top plastic shell), what do I have to remove from the main case? do I have to remove the CD drive to get to the LCD assembly's latch?
i just tryed to replace my 13.3 macbook screen but now when i turn it on i get the light at the front for 3 sec's then it turns off? ive replased the old cracked screen but it still won't boot. any help?
Without a drive it's hard to know what else failed on the machine. If the unit boots up to a blinking icon, then it means it is just looking for a hard drive, and likely everything else is fine..
I just attempted to replace my screen. One problem I have is that I took one from a white macbook and put it into a black macbook. The two diverter cables on the white one are pink and yellow and the ones on the black macbook is black and grey, I do not know which ones are which. Also my back light is not working and i know for a fact it is not the inverter. I did disconnect all of the cables from the housing around the screen. Which wires do what maybe this will help me out.
You may not have plugged the inverter cable in properly into the inverter board. I'd recommend contacting our support department, and they'll be able to assist you further.
I recently bought the LCD screen from your website and followed the instructions from this video to replace it. Everything seemed fine but the screen will not turn on at all..what did I do wrong?
