i think they are arguing against his motives not so much his choice. His character does give off the whole "out for myself" attitude so i can get where they are coming from, he wasn't trying to save the majority, that was just a bonus. But I understand what you're saying, the logical choice, yet, the emotionally heavier one
The thing I like about this series is, maybe others as well, I like the realism and moral stories. Realism as in the emotions/problems, not the aliens.
