@theghostlywhisper1 Wrong on a few points. 1) Germany only deliberately targeted military sites until Britain firebombed German civilians (deliberately). 2) The declaration of war had little to do with the invasion of Poland, or Britain would have also declared war on the USSR, which joined Germany in joint celebrations and victory parades in Polish cities. 3) The USA did not "go to war" against Germany, at least formally. Germany declared war on the US after the US declared war on Japan.

That is why 'miraculously' the essential aircraft carriers were not present on the day of the attack.
