I seem to recall we had difficulty accommodating the overwelming suport of USA law enforcement when we suffered a similar tragedy a few years ago so this was particularly appreciated by all of Canada.

Please people, this isn't about your views on cops, this is that people who were out to serve and protect the public, one of whom I knew, were killed in cold blood by a man who was mentally unstable. They had family and children who will only remember the holiday season as the time of year their parents were killed. My prayers go out to all who were affected.

I wouldn't label the 4 officers heroes because they're dead. That's a misuse of the term.

They were civilian guards who worked for the United States. It's a shame that they died, but they knew the risk of their duty. I can not pity them for their deaths, but I can honor them for their lives.
