  • great singer ahead of his time. Understood what the common man was going through. Everybody has problems some people fame comes to quick and their not prepare to deal with it.

  • jones version doesnt compare to hanks at all, johnny cash's version is even better than jones

  • Jones' version is better

  • like

  • Sorry can't read that fast. Thats right, i'm from the south.

  • Heard this for the first time this week and thought what a great song. I trawled through the rest of the Williams stuff (dont know which is senior or junior) and it seemed to lack the interest and variety of this song apart from Low Down Blues. Does anyone know of any other good material by this family that doesnt sound dare I say too simplistic?

  • @JDibden Do your work and discover Hank Williams (senior). The music and the life story. He is a seminal figure in modern American music.

  • @JDibden Your listening to the wrong kind of music if your looking for something fancy and edited and filtered and fake. The whole point of this music is its simplicity and relatability. If you cant relate move along.

  • @JDibden "If you don't like Hank Williams you can kiss our ass." That means Sr. or Jr.

    Any questions?

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I agree, I am from the inner city of philly, irish decent and I love Hank Sr...

  • Has anyone else noticed how Hank III sounds and looks exactly like Hank Sr.?

  • @madskrillz2 i have! i say they look alike too

  • i really like this songs

  • this song is a masterpiece ... so natural, so beautiful...

  • I don't know why everyone hate Hank Jr. I like Hank Williams Sr., Jr. and some of the III.

  • @OutdoorsMan1775 Hank jnr blew his fathers money...........on drugs. Hank 111 is amazing, the only thing he owns of his grandfather's is a leather neck tie..................so sad!!!!!! But Hank Williams is the king of country and always will be.....................I wish you and your family a beautiful christmas........................

  • @Reddirtgirl55Again Reading about Hank Sr.'s life is really sad. I believe that I have quite almost of his recordings and love to listen to them continnually. He used to put a lot of sentiment on his singing! I am from Brazil, a dentist, and it could seem strange but I work listening to this king of music all day long in my office. benedictowilsonporto@gmail.com

  • @Reddirtgirl55Again Thanks, but he also has his grandaddy's and his father's rifles. His grandaddy's is his service rifle and his dad's was his hunting rifle. His dad's guitar is in a muesum I know that.

  • @OutdoorsMan1775 thanks for the info....Hanks guitar is owned by Neil Young now! Hope you had a great Christmas my friend! Deb

  • @MrRazorblade999 im sure he did i just dont like his voice

  • Reminds me of my late grandparents, growing up on the rez they'd sing a couple of Hanks tunes at family gatherings, guitars everywhere, mandolins, banjo's, fiddles and the spoons! Ahh the good ole days. Love this tune!

  • i wished hank jr was like his father like some body already said but sadly he's a big disapointment in my opinion

  • @purplewalnut89 Well, Hank jr might not be the brightest guy politically speaking, but he did record some very good albums in the 70's.

  • nice to know country lives on in canada. down here in the states it seems most people have forgotten what real country is.

  • Too bad Hank Jr. isnt like his father!

  • I was riding number nine heading south to caroline............Just kid acting smart, I broke my darlings heart-------SHEAR POETRY-

  • Some music is immortal. I'm 30 and love Hank Sr. I wish I would not have been a closed minded idiot as a kid and listened to MUSIC that is good, instead of cool.

  • his grave site is down the street from Crampton Bowl in Montgomery Alabama

  • I have childhood pictures at his grave,I never was a country fan but Hank was a genius.

  • Thanks for posting Canada - Canada's like an attic everything U.S. has is still up there LOL - thanks again R Manl

  • I grew up listening to Hank Sr., my mom had 45's and 78's. I said then that I didn't like 'that kind of music', but this is where I am now. Hank's music is great when you have a hurting heart...or any other time.

  • shit no. this is music.

  • Where would the country music world be without Hank?

Don't even want to go there...Now this is what country

is all about. Thanks for sharing. Dusty

  • Such a unique style of singing. One gets the feeling that Hank was just toying around while singing this one.

Shouting out, moaning low, tinny nasal tweeting, muffly jaw dropping howling...He's just toying with the song. And in the meantime doing this stirring classic, creating a piece that has a sort of vocal fingerprint that nobody has ever been able to fully duplicate.

Many have tried. But none will ever be Hank.

  • Doesn't get much better than this, what expression!

  • not a single dislike!

  • @samirocks5 u kno y? cause he is the fucking best!

  • Check out youtube/lulu.mov

  • 332 likes, 0 dislikes. why cant music still be this unanimously good?

..Amen to all Amen... (Amen means so be it)

??Can't We All Just Get Along???

    Thanks for Sharing :)

  • It just does not get better than Hank singing this song.

  • you know why this video has no dislikes? Cause you cant dislike a classic!

  • @43Copenhagen My friend, variations of this comment show up under almost every great song. Inevitably if the song remains accessible someone will eventually show up to dislike it. Be it because Hank slept with their sister or stole their guitar or whatever else. Why is it so important everyone like the song? You like the song; I like the song, just enjoy the song :-)

  • Wow great info in the video. Been meaning to look up a bit about his life but never quite got around to it... thanks, very interesting and well done, too!

  • i remember my grandfather singing this song to me. love it.

  • talk about good music

  • This is about as badazz as it gets. Probably my favorite song by Hank. He was and is amazing! GREAT video production!

  • As young as he was when he left us and almost 60 years later people are still listening to his music.

  • all a lone i bare this shame, im a number not a name............wow ever thing he sang was from some where deep down in side r.i.p hank and we will see on the other side

  • Beautiful song..

  • Hank was born with a defective spinal column. Just to stand up caused him severe pain. He became addicted to morphine mixed with B-12 vitimin so he could function. He also had no ability to gain weight, as his body would not store fat. He gave all he had to give and then left us. R.I.P. Hariam King Williams (Hank)

  • @SHADOWMAN296 Thank you for setting the record straight. Anybody who suffers fro stenosis of the spine suffers unbelievable pain. Yet, the guy kept performing, satnding unp and delivering. He's my hero.

  • thank you

  • cheers from Croatia,i'm not a huge Country&western fan...i like Nirvana...but this video is an excellent piece of beauty and i see Country's influence to a modern music.....

  • and he died lonely in a back of a pick up truck when he was hitchhiking

  • I'm in my late fifties and hate Country/C&W, but love the music of Hank Williams.

    How is that?

    I don't understand it either.

  • @andrea22213 I don't think you hate Country/C&W. I think you hate bad Country/C&W ;)

  • I sure wish I could have met him,he was awesome.

  • @sharonpowersca Me too, me too!!! :(

  • THIS MAN IS A GOD.

  • I love this song!, i made some cover of hank williams and i live in south america

  • i was born in the wrong generation im 16 and i LOVE old hank williams :) long live hank and his music

  • @MiddleMadMen i know how that is dude, i'm in highschool to. unfortunately not many people our age listen to this music :/

  • @tdcollector

I was the same way in school. I listened to all the older country music. I just borrowed casette tapes from my grandparents and parents and listened to them on the school bus. Many students had no idea who the singers were that I were listening to, because they were so used to the singers from the 90's. I think the traditional country music sounds better anyway, don't you agree?

  • @123bluegrassgirl i definitely agree, teenagers nowadays don't know what good music is. I'm probably one of the few teenagers around who still listens to Ol' Hank

  • @tdcollector You'd probably be surprised how many teenagers do listen to Hank Williams.

  • @jmzfactor im 16 and breath for hank, i got his blues too

  • my favourite Hank song

  • @jibbie49...I was born with that to, surgery didn't help, and that's not true about poor women either!! Thank you.

  • I must be a slow reader.Would love to have read the story of his life

  • Hank was born with Spinal Bifida which caused him severe nerve pain, thus he drank to relieve it. Today, modern surgery would be performed & his pain would have easily been stopped. Sadly, he had no access to such care back then. Spinal Bifida was common in babies of poor women, who had low vitamins during early pregnancy. Today, women are told to take Folic Acid to prevent this birth defect.

  • @Jibbie49 , Sorry But Your Wrong About His History, He Was My Grandmother's First Cousin, He Came To Her house A Number Of times. He Drank Because He Was A Alcoholic, It Ran In The Family...

  • @DalMil54

    hey cus.

  • Hank is more than a legend.. he is country, first, middle and last.

  • Just to let you know the fans of Hank, I played this song to a son of a friend of mine, twice, and after the second time, his eyes swelled, and he understood, that just be good, get away from criminality, and help this country, the greatest country ever created, instead of being a criminal. Yeah, he is okay now, thank God. Yes, thanks to Hank as well.

GOT INTO TROUBLE, HAD TO ROAM, LEFT MY GAL AND LEFT MY HOME-----GOD HELP US AND GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY.

  • @19thcentury okay buddy we all know that your story is fabricated

  • @tdejong85

    lol

  • Always will remember you Dad, because of these songs. My Dad loved Hank and his music, never to be duplicated, how sad. R.I.P. Hank, Dad, I know that you introduced yourself to him.

  • @19thcentury That is very beautiful. I am sorry for your loss and may your father rest in peace forever.

  • Yep......

  • great song by a great man who came to a tragic end
