To the looping comment...this is definitely live. Dave is one of the best rhythm guitarists out there, he'd have no trouble keeping a riff going and talking at the same time.

Besides if you listen closely the riff never sounds the same twice, sometimes he hits some open strings, sometimes it's louder, more percussive, etc.

This really happened. Dave is awful at remembering his own lyrics. I have been to 2 shows where Ants gets messed up.....badly, and thats from the past 2 years, after he's been singing the song for over 10 years.

I believe that this is real; Dave and the rest of the Band are just the group I'd expect to just have this sort of thing happen. They're fantastic, in that they never let it bother them. I'd imagine this wasn't fake, and that it was just Dave being Dave.
