I was at the Wembley London show, it was the biggest and best gig of all time and always will be. Yes I've been to lots of gigs, but this show was something more than just a concert, it was an experience on another level..
It always disappointes me to hear the enthusiastic crowd applauding and shouting at Hitlerjugend playing drums. I never understood the choice of Bono to show a scene of the Triumph of the will, a nazi propaganda film made by Leni Riefenstahl.
@jub2281 Zoo TV was designed to point to the fact that TV could and was being used as a propaganda tool to manipulate the masses and promote consumerism in society. The Nazis used tiumph of the will in order to brainwash millions into following the Nazi party's leadership in Germany. That was Bono's point he was basically stating that companies used adverts on TV to trick people into buying their products the way the Nazis used films such as triumph of will to brainwash.
I imagine Bernard Sumner must get green with envy @1:13 to 2:38. That's just the sort of thing I'd see Joy Division doing in a studium if Ian Curtis had stuck it out and they made the big time.
360 multicoloured claw tour doesn't compare to ZOO. As someone alluded to, you don't get ZOO's impact on DVD. A looming, menacing, metal collosus, red beacons flashing high above, the constant barrage of sound, image and subliminal messages that never interfered with the music but complemented Actung's dark, seedy themes perfectly.
It was U2's Bladerunner set, beautiful to behold, mind blowing.
The Claw looked good before they clothed it in garish plastic. Should have been ZOO 2.
at the dublin show in 93 people were passing out from the information overload of the opening - I saw people getting pulled out by security who had just fasinted through awe
@chisacat thats the most rediculious thing ive ever heard.Im sure they were passing out from booze or the heat or crowd surges. Information overload??? bit of a vivid imagination u have there....
Isaw this show in Melbourne....haven't seen anything like it before or since.....mesmerising....the opening barrage of light and sound can't be appreciated ona screen.......

Best concert opening ever. I bet if bono tried his hand at acting he'd win an oscar.
