I'm 18 and i LOVE the Priest version of this song. I've listened to it since i was a baby. This is my first time hearing this song. my dad said this version sucks, so i come here thinking its gunna totally suck, but boy was i wrong! this is beautiful! :) i still love the Priest version better; more badass :) but this, this is beautiful :)
@purpledino167 you know, I have never heard the Judas Priest version of this song, but since you mentioned it, I will do just that. It makes me feel good when a young adult finds a song I found so moving so many years ago still has the same effect on another generation. I'm really happy you find the beauty in this song.
@compewterknut Woa u never heard the priest version?? Man, i remember singing it with my dad when i was five :) Anything Priest does is frickin awesome :) aww that makes me feel all good inside; i know a song is good when it gives me the chills :) Well gosh, Joan's voice is so beautiful and with the light guitars and instruments, it's a masterpiece :)
@purpledino167 hey young friend. I just listened to the Judas Priest version. I like it a lot. They put a different spin on it in delivery, and it is still moving, and I like it. I guess we both learned a lesson, eh?. We can all learn from one another. I appreciate the heads up on yet another group or artist who can deliver the goods to a beautiful song. Keep an open head and heart and you will go far. Peace to you!
I read her memoir, and she went on to say that she was just messing with Dylan when she said it was about her husband. The cuff links referred to in this song are worn by Dylan on the cover of Bringing it All Back Home
Great video!! You can't beat this song - it's amazingly well done by Joan Baez, one of my all-time favorites. Thanks for the beauty you created here. :-))

@NerfHerderD17 u know... go suck rob halford's dick.... you're oly fit to do tat..... n ur jud'ass' priest version is a 'cover' remember? ur shitty rob wouldn't have covered it unless he thought it was a great song.... freakin' motherfucker... u're a disgrace to this page as well as music... oh yea i've been wastin ur time too much, i'm so sorry... u can continue sucking rob's dick now... go on
@NerfHerderD17 yea... sry... my bad.... i really apologize... i was expecting a shower of disses frm u.... but wat u said cracked me up.... sorry bro.... i really love this song...
@chocolatefrogs1992 jud'ass'? are you implying Priest's version sounds like turds? Both versions are epic, nostalgic, and beautiful in their own rights. Yes Priest's version is a 'cover' ... a cover that took this song to soaring hights and beyond.
"Any Day Now", her crown jewel on a twin vinyl. This one came too late or it would have been there too. The term unique is reserved for singers with this kind of voice.
Thank you, Joan for making our Sunday mornings soft landings from crazy Saturday nights.
I like to think Joanie must have reached deep into her Mexican roots for the chord structure of this song. Imagine Bob Dylan thinking Joanie's poetry was lousy! Imagine being the ex of Joan Baez and ending up in a song. NOBODY could ever cover this song and have it mean the same.
a sad song, done so beautiful by one of the great artists and poets of our time...the video show u did is very poetic and fits this song so well...great job
Used to listen to this with my sister and bro-in-law in 1979, summer it was. We got high on Panama Red and drank Bud Natural. With tabs that came off, I remember.
It is often said that the song describes Baez's relationship with Bob Dylan, ten years prior. In Baez's memoir, And a Voice to Sing With, she recounted how she told Dylan that the song was actually about her husband David Harris, thereby countering the claim that the song was about Dylan and Baez. Although Dylan is not specifically named in the song, Baez has admitted in her memoir as well as in a number of interviews that he is the inspiration for the song. According to Wikipedia.

I was introduced to this song by Judas Priest when I was a teen; 20 years ago (oh my, I think I am old now).
I only heard Joan's original version about a month ago, for the first time and this version sends chills down my spine.
I would never try or attempt to say one is better than another. I listen to either version, and I feel nostalgic for very different reasons.
Priest's version reminds me of being a teen listening to this song with friends.
Joan's version reminds me of someone I loved
