"Mecca"= the influence of Islamic culture. These have been vast and VERY significant (it entailed architecture, maths, philosophy, commerce, chemistry, languages, medicine, astronomy, ...i.a. on Jewry). What we nowadays call "our Western heritage" is unthinkable without the Kalifat, etc.

And without Islam, christianity would not have survived the Middle Ages.
