I think the film was about 1:40 that was pushing the limit for the amount of story to be told but then you have to consider it was a true story so they couldn't add bits in. I thought james francos's acting was good; the amputation scene was awesome on his part as well as the trippy talk show interview he did with himself. city by the sea is an awesome film too.

in terms of storyline you're right, however in terms of psychology and development of the characters, soundtrack and sheer cinematic grandeur this is one of the best

It had alot of fantastic ideas and the captains death scene is astounding but after about3/4 the way through, it shits all over itself.
