This song just turned up on iTunes ... it is no wonder they never released this ... even as a rare single. I do have to say Mark or Jack ... that your version, tempo, rendition, vocals are better than the 1968 Jethro Tull ... I assume it was about 68 ... maybe as far back as 67. Again, great job.

The song is to be found found on a obscure sampler released in the UK in 1991. Quite right, it was a third song recorded in the Sunshine Day / Aeroplane sessions - John Evan Band / Jethro "Toe" transitional period

Funny, it just occurred to me how disappointed the band must have felt when their first album came out under the name Jethro Toe. If they would have kept that name I wonder if they would have been as popular. Despite Ian's whining about the name, I've always like it.

Just had to come back here for another listen and to rate it 5 stars. I still have not ever found mention of this recording anywhere, strange because it is a really great song. I wonder if you have ever heard from Ian or the Tull people, either postiive or negative on your covers!

Personally, I think they ought to get you to sing for Tull, you sound better than Ian at this point, and you look more like him from the "This Was" cover as well.

Strange, I wrote you a long answer last night, but it hasn't shown up. Anyway, it's like their first recording and it isn't on any album. It is only on a various artist compilation called "25 Very Rare Masters". There is a sample in my video "Jack Hicko Grindhouse Double Feature 1975". Thanks for writing!

I got a record many years ago called rare tracks that had jethro "toe"'s first single "Sunshine Day and "My Aeroplane", and then there was "Summerday Sands" ... but I have never heard of this one. It's really very nice - great performance.
