i do not see JUST HOW Yudhoyono and his fellow Jusuf Kalla would bring this country to a better situation. The only legacy of Orde Baru that he continues to run is the policy of letting other countries taps our mineral sources.

Read the Economist May 2008, pg. 82 about "Investment in Indonesia". you would see what I mean.. he is making the country even poorer and independent to other countries. only then, I would welcome you to another discussion

Madam, "trying" is hardly co-terminus with "dithering", "procrastinating", and "politicking". Trying is rising above common politics and finding the courage for economic reforms.

To my mind, he's a politician, not a leader. His populist approach sickens me. He promotes everything but stands up for nothing.

Anyway, economic growth was 6%. However, this figure needs to be set against inflation and population growth to determine progress in real income and welfare.

Now, at 8% inflation rate, and 2% increase in population, we are regressing. The very fact that he talks about this, and takes pride in it shows that he doesn't grasp basic economic concepts.

In Suharto's regime we saw 10% economic growth and 2% inflation annually. This is growth.

And also, as a comparison, in spite of our resources we are lagging behind Vietnam. They are growing at 10% a year.

If he actually cares beyond poll-rating he would not be afraid of making reforms, now would he?
