I found the answer! If you made a new character in the characters folder and you want to use him in 2

player games, open the 2PlayerSettings.txt file in the data folder, increase the

NumCharacters: value by 1, then simply add your character's file name to the list

(in quotes) (copied from the RubberNinjasModdingTutorial.pd­f)
