  • i dont get it thats why im fali, ing im doing 1 2/3 - 2 1/4 CAN SOME ONE HELP ME PLEASE

  • when you borrow I think you get the whatever the denominator is, like 4 3/12 you would get 12/12 because when the fraction is full it equals 1 right? and 12 + 3 = 15 and the denominator would stay the same?

  • I got bored at 0:00

  • she got 9 4/3 becuz if u simplify it (4/3 = 1 1/3) you get 10 1/3. its like subtracting, where u gotta borrow from ur neighbor.

  • What school is this teacher from?

  • HOW did you get 9 4/3

  • @crazyricanforeva1829 from the upside of that 1x3= 3 plus 1 = 4 then copy the denominator 4/3......

  • thanks but im still a little confused on how you got 9 + 4/3 also why do you look so serious?

  • Too bad they don't explain anything..

  • i would totally bone her

    thumbs up if you agree

  • why does she look so serious

  • com

  • This helped me with my math but that lady is giving me nightmares

  • great noww i have to look for McCalister1's comment........ -_-

  • @partyluver100 press ctrl + f ....type Mccalister in the box....press *down button* till u reach his comment ;) time saved!

  • She's scary.

  • I would do you x number of times.

  • For this operation of converting mixed numbers to improper fractions-

for the purpose of subtracting mixed numbers and fractions

    Watch:

    youtube(.)com/watch?v=J8kjXfD4xas

  • This way uses no borrowing

  • Cont--The same common denominator rule applies for subtracting improper fractions. Since both have the common denominator of 3 when converting to improper fractions they don't need to be fixed.

Step #1 - Convert to improper fraction.

Step #2 - Are the denominators the same? if yes move on, if not find one.

    Step #3 - Subtract numerators

Step #4 - Divide the num. by denom. to get whole plus remain.

Step #5 - Finish, the divided is your whole, the remainder is your numerator over denominator

  • @Sporadicus1 you made that easier than the teacher demonstrated

  • A brute force way would be to convert both fractions into improper fractions by multiplying the denom by the whole number then add numerator.

    10x3 =30 then add the 1(numerator) =31 over the 3

    2nd mixed number is (5x3=15) add numerator +2 (=17 over 3)

    Which are now improper fractions.

    So it's 31 - 17 (only subtract numerators)

    To get (14 over 3)

Now divide 14 by 3 (3 goes into 14, four times)

The 4 is the divided whole and the 2 remainder is the fraction.

    Which = 4 and 2 over 3

  • helped but you scare me :(

  • @AsadFromFlorida Same here.... I'm majoring in animation...WHY DO I NEED THIS EVER AGAIN?!?!?

  • @AsadFromFlorida Same here.... I'm majoring in animation...WHY DO I NEED THIS EVER AGAIN?!?!?

  • u didnt even teach me anything stupid idiot whore lady scum bag

  • Man, even after watching this I'm still freaking confused, I hate my math teacher talking at 100mph.

  • where did she get 9 1.1/3???

  • Wow u are ulgy as hell lady and u sound retarted

  • The teacher made it so easy. xD

  • why arent all algebra teachers like this. it took this lady just a minute and i learned it we take about 2 weeks at school to figure this stuff out

  • Comment removed

  • @ammunet Hello what she did was multiply the denominator 3 and the whole number 1

so 1x3 is three, then added the numerator 1 to make 4. I hope i don't sound condescending, but i totally understand that simple little things in math become super frustrating and i hope that i helped you :D

  • Its over the summer and I dont remember any of the math from 8th grade T_T.

  • 1+3= 4/3, so all you do is add the numinator and denominator

  • LOL, Im a freshman! And forgot to do this shit. ==' and this video doest really help at all :P.

  • @fuckenxstefaniex same here but it help me :P

  • i feel so stupid! ): im in 8th grade and im learning how to freaking subtract mixed numbers. ): low self esteem ):

  • i am a senior in high school and need help with this... :/

  • I'm in the 9th grade lol

  • this video is stupid dat was just dumb never make a video again ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • whenever i get a fractions problem i just think about a pizza pie and 8 slices. ny style pizza not crappy pizza from elsewhere like chicago

  • this video is terrible in comparision to others on the same subject. She should have went in to more details when one was taken away from whole number 10. she should have made it clear that the one became 3/3.

  • im in college and im still having problems with this :S

  • i got a better method and it works ha

the 1st fraction multiply the denomanator 3 by the whole number 10 then add the numerator 1 do the same to the other mixed # youll get 31/3 - 17/3 = 14/3 divide that and youll get 4 2/3

  • @worldtraveler101 cool man!!thanks for your idea it really helped!!

  • i dont get the part were u got 9+4/3

  • @mini13ize cuz u changed the mixed number to an improper fraction by multiplying 3 times 1 =3 then u add the numorator which is 1 and u get 9+ 4/3....hope tht helped :)

  • omg she is so hot... NOTTTTTTTTTT

  • how did you get 9 + 4/3

  • I HATE FRACTIONS! -.-

  • Dear Vevo youtube is for the users not a place to advertise suck my cock -I hate you Andrew

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • Or 14/3

  • I recommend this excellent Math channel: ( Mathmatchpoint ) to everyone who wants to become good at Math (or to someone who is already good at it). He is going to teach you Math the EASY WAY, from the basic to the advanced topics. The great thing is that his videos are categorized within playlists. It is easy to know which video to watch next. This was the least I could do for him (let people know about his videos). Thanks to him, I got 97% on my Math test.

    Go to his channel: Mathmatchpoint

  • I blanked out at the beginning of the video :(

  • man these people suck they dont even show you an example how they got the first few numbers they need better explaining

  • i thaught it would be easier here to just multiply 10 by 1/3 and 5 by 2/3 and then add them . wich give us 14/3 then u can dvided the numerator by 3 wich gives 4 2/3

  • LOL at her serious face at the end

  • i dont get this D; how she got 10 1/3 as 9 1/3 then 4 5 2/3 she didnt have to do anything UGHH I HATE MATH BUT I HAVE 2 KNOW IT D:<

  • @thecharmedpowerful she got 10 1/3 by turning in to 9+1 1/3 the 1 become 3/3 after getting the common denomenator and then added to 1/3 wich give us9 4/3

  • wow im mad confused does anyone no a simpler way?

  • Damn look like she wants to kick somebodys ass! lol

  • im gr 8 too :P well i get it after 1 min, fk fractions ==

  • Thanks Very Much, This concept is needed to subtract mixed numbers easily!

  • not only you hot but i can also understand you SWWWEEEEEETTTTT

  • these vidio helped me pass my ath exam

  • Needlessly complicated method. Just convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and subtract.

Two steps instead of all that.

  • why you look so mean!? too cute for that Ms. Sweetness! ;D

  • haha im in 9th grade i had this same qestion i hate this shit

  • In that voice I can imagine you saying "ru uh ru rah derp a derp"

  • @McCalister1 dude im about to go o college n im lookin this shit up we all need a lil help

  • @238luney LOL!!!

  • @238luney The title of the video "Subtracting Mixed Numbers" clearly states what it's about. Why then did you look at it if it something that you are already familiar with? With all the thumbs-up you got, just goes to show that you're not the only one who doesn't know how to read too well.

  • @238luney lol im 24 and I just had to look it up for a test im about to take in uh 5 hours

  • @McCalister1 ..im in grade 10 lol

  • @McCalister1 same here

  • @McCalister1 Dudes, im almost 20, in my THIRD semester of college and doing fractions in math 091. It is what it is.

  • @McCalister1 YEAH some ppl have a learning disability so its not their falt its how they were born dumbass. And not every1 knows fractions so easily and some ppl just dont know it so ur actually making fun of ppl when it's not their falt -_-.IT IS WHAT IT FUCKING IS GET OVER IT D:<

  • @McCalister1 Exactly ! , Me Too,

Like My Pre Algebra Teacher Is Wack xD

  • @McCalister1 hey im in 9th i didnt even now how to subtrat fractions without whole numbers

  • @McCalister1 yes! i'm not alone! my excuse to my teacher in test is i suck at fractions. i'm in 8th too

  • @McCalister1 im in 8th grade but instead, i watch khan academy than this boring lady but i'm homeschooled so i HAVE To look on YouTube. Nothing is sad about that cuz the good thing is that i never get home work :D

  • it'd be ezier to write them as improper fractions as 31/3 and 17/3's ... 31-17=14...14/3's = 4 2/3 -- way faster =\

  • How can anyone not get this? It is explained so well. rewind the video and watch it again if you don't get it---lazy people.

  • @dianabillett stfu bitch

  • This was very easy to understand. Thanks!

  • Alright goddamnit... im out

  • why are you even on the video ass

  • WHY in the hell do you do that angry face at the end? O_____O maybe cuse u were thinking: "these idiots cant subract mixed numbers" XD

  • yournerd.com!

  • omg tht lady is so boring her voice is boiringg ............UGGH SHUT UP LADY lol

  • ok im pretty sure i wasnt looking out the window this time an i still dont know what shes talking about

  • What if the 2nd number to subtract is a whole number and no fraction?

  • @BellaEdwardJacob1000 , then just write the same fraction and subtract the whole numbers

  • LOL she always ends her videos looking so posh!

    great video though!

  • @Gbiney I am over thirty and about to return to college, and I need to refresh a lot of this stuff that I have not dealt with since the sixth grade.

  • i always sucked at math :( I get science and english, and alot of other things, but Math is always a challange for me. I just have to conquer it.

  • u dont know nun

  • i think this method will confuse the weak students.... instead you can convert it first to improper fraction and than you can minus it ..i think this will be a easier approach compared to your method.what's your thought?

  • @groundzerobuild , depends, I taught it both ways and some students preferred this way, others preferred using improper fractions...

  • WTF

  • No Help

  • i learned it differntly. you would have to change the mixed numbers into an improper fraction. then you would subtract. after that you would change it back into a mixed number... B[

  • Comment removed

  • I thought you would just turn them both to improper fractions

  • @RainbowStar92 that is the logical thing to do. Its flat out easier.

  • How did she get the 10 and 1 3rd to be that fraction?

  • @caillou1718 For 9+1 1/3 it equals 10 1/3 so it could be anything that equals 10 1/3

As for 9+ 4/3 she just turned the mixed number (1 1/3) into an improper fraction. To be honest I just worked that out myself :P

  • I get it now! We had a sub today at school and I didn't understand the way that she said that we were supposed to subtract these, and I was stumped on my homework.

  • @animallover910 And I still am. -_-

  • @animallover910 I also had a sub that didn't even explain it to us he did it the wrong way and it made us all confused and I DIDN'T GET MY HOMEWORK even though I'm 1 of the 3 Smart Students AND THANKS GOD THIS LADY MADE THIS VIDEO I GET IT NOW!!!!! ALSO SHAME ON YOUR TEACHER AND SHAME ON MINE!!! LOL

  • @BellaEdwardJacob1000 I know, right? XD

  • thank u soooooo much! that ws the simplest way i have seen it done. thank u thank u! you were a big help!

  • Anyone needing homework help with axia or any other college can go to aceyourcollegeclassesdotcom you get to post your questions and you can earn money tutoring others with their questions

  • NVM bout the comment 4/3, i TOTALLY get how she got it.

  • one last thing, how did u get 4/3??? can u please explain more?!

  • it helped A LITTLE just barely

  • Im so sooooo confused right now, more than ever with this type of mathD:

  • there is an easier way,u can cross multiply:D

  • LET ME PUT IN ENGLISH FOR YOU GUYS! i know the way she did it is confusing as hell. When borrowing all the means is add the numerator and denominator together to form your new numerator which is what she did she added the 1 and the 3 and got 4/3! hope i made it easier for you guys

  • Comment removed

  • yea im even more lost then when i started

  • how did u get 4/3 O.o ohkay im lost Lol

  • Ahh math is so confusing its lik somebody speaking to me in chinease ://

  • 10 1/3 becomes 9+1 1/3 easily: 10 is the same as 9+1, right?

    so 10 1/3 is the same as 9+1 1/3...

As for the numerator becomming 4, that one to the right of the fraction equals the number of demoniations "stored" in the fraction. 4/3 = 1 and 1/3. (3+1=4)

And yes, she is hot. =)

  • SHOULD'VE EXPLAINED WHERE THE 1 OR 9 CAME FROM

  • Please; this video is about education,

to understand what she's doing or to enjoy the lesson, don't ever look at the white board; just look at her boobs ;) and then you can enjoy the lesson :D

seriously; i didn't understand a thing she said

  • She Makes Math Way Worse! D:

  • The easiest way is to multiply 10 x 3 -30 then add 1= 31 over 3 (31/3) then do the same with 5 2/3 = 5x3=15+2=17 then subtract 31-17=14/3 then divide 14/3= 4 (2/3). This is less confusing

  • Comment removed

  • you're a genius!

  • This sucked.

  • Her example is not for people who struggle with this subject (like me). I understood "Subtracting Mixed Fractions with Uncommon Denominators by Davitily" much better.

  • what?am confuseddd noww. ughhhhhh

  • shes chatting shit

  • thank you so much!!!!

it really helps me a lot

  • You made me more confused..thanks.

  • lo i get how to do it!!

  • EPIC FAIL U SUCK AT TEACHING

  • I'm Having Problems With subtracting FRACTIONS,I thought you guys did videos on ALL the math problems, but i\soon im going to get there with homework e_e

  • by 0:55 i had a migrane, lol

  • If you have any homework problems, check out my site, and feel free to answer others questions! site: hwhelpblog.webs.c0m/

  • this might sound retarded, but is (-4) - 2 the same thing as 2 - (-4) ????

  • what ever!!! hindi ko maintindihan

  • uh i realy dont understand

  • You are not showing people how to get to 9 and 1/3, this is confusing.

Please change your dialect also, it's annoying.

  • bad method confusing!

  • I think she was doing 3x1+1 and got the 4. I agree with jimmuhlhauser. I hate math also. I just need to know how to count money. :D

  • wow ur not a teacher u didnt explain how you got 9 4/3 u dumb bitch

  • ooooooooooooooo!!! ok thanks so much!!! i was like wtf!

  • umm i'm more confused than before!! ? :L

  • Thanks!

  • oh..my..gosh.. kill me now

  • First of all, I'm a teacher and I didn't get it. It's explanations like this that get students so confused, and intimidated by math. She should have explained that you are borrowing 1 from the 10, which is not equal to 1, but equal to 3. The 10 now becomes a 9. Then you add the 3 to the 1 on the first fraction, which would equal 4/3. So you are left with 9 4/3. Then you can continue like she said by subtracting the fractions first. She simplified this way too much for it to make sense.

  • omg bad teaching, too fast, and doesn't explain well.

  • @rmg101081

Uh, no. She explains perfectly well. It's not her fault if you can not grasp it.

  • She lost me when she drew the arrow.

  • @EnsiferumRules props for the epic username

  • ok but how she just minus 1 from ten and add 3 to!? what she just changed it and didnt say how or why like she is QUEEN OF NUMBERS!? CONFUSED!??
