Jools Holland looks bored out his mind. His gestures have no real character in this- not the Jools we all know and love. Tbh, he's probably thinking about Boogie Woogie or something similar
erm colum rogers shows how much u know if he was miming then his adams apple wouldmt be moving as he,s singing thats how u can tell if there miming so unlucky with that
This is my favorite of all Glenn's hairstyles. (Kidding!) Love this CD; just listened to the whole thing the other day. Would love to see a Squeeze concert again: come back to Detroit, lads!
@fcernig33@fcernig33 at 0:33 Glenn goes to "The little hand shakes its fist" from the last verse, when he should have gone to "The crew have abandoned ship" from the first verse.
@alapoet On Top of the Pops bands weren't allowed to play live, so some of them used to sing live over a pre-recorded backing track - a bit like karaoke.
Classic song from one of the great British bands of the last 30 years...took me a while to nail singing along to that chorus when it came out!...never heard it live before..just brilliant....also a treat for Squeeze fans.,recently watched a great episode of "Songbook" devoted to Tilbrook/Difford and their music..hopefully it's on Youtube
I saw Squeeze during this tour for Babylon and On at Madison Square Garden with floor seats 10 rows back for $20. I remember standing on the seats singing this song!
Take it to the bridge, throw it overboard, see if it can swim, back to the shore, no one's in the house, everyone is out, all the lights are out and the blinds are down.
brill.....say no more...............

@Jodielfc222 To mime convincingly, you have to actually sing even if your mic is switched off. However, he's not miming here as we've established.

If they were lip-synching, then how did Glenn manage to fluff his lines?
This was live. Lip-synching doesn't include lyrical screw-ups!

How did he screw up?

The pre-chorus (0:25 to 0:40) is masterful.

Just everything-- the chord progression, the bass line, the vocals. Hits on all cylinders.
Stossburg 2 years ago 4
Yeah, Keith Wilkinson played some of the most unusual bass lines I have ever heard.

Fantastic. I've never seen this before. You can tell the vocals were live - Glenn fluffed his lines - but what a voice!
