Drew has definitely made the show his own since his debut. I knew it would take him a couple of seasons before he got completely comfortable hosting the show, and he's done a great job the last couple of years. He finally realized he can't be Bob, and he shouldn't be. Plus, he LOOKS like a game show host now with all the weight he's lost!
I like how nervous Drew looks and takes a deep breath when he makes his first entrance, like "This is it; this is for real!" He's come a LOOOONG way since then, making the show his own and finding his own groove. Losing all that weight has helped, too. :)
Does anyone else find it interesting that the first One Bid on Bob Barker's last show was a plasma TV and the first (of the last) pricing games was Lucky 7?
Wow, it's only been four years since Drew Carey became the host of "Price" and I don't recognize him anymore from this clip because he has transformed himself with his weight loss and change of hairstyle. He is 52 as I type this and I think he now looks a lot younger and more energetic.
After watching this 1st show, I'm thinking this...could it possibly be that he was picked to host, NOT based on his personality or talent, but because he looked like Bill Cullen (who hosted the original TPIR in the 1950's)? Drew's a nice guy BUT he lacks the grace and humility that Bob Barker hosted the show with. I guess if you don't think that's important to a host, then it doesn't matter. But for me, that's what makes a host good...they are there for the fun, not for their own aggrandizement
I like all the new things they are doing with the show. Things such as having "theme weeks" where couples are contestants, etc. Also, they are now giving away Japanese cars and not just only American cars. I also like how they have special guests appear to give away prizes or do "spots" during the show. One thing I don't like is how Drew always asks the contestants, after they've spun the Big Wheel, if they want to say "hi" to anybody. It gets a little repetitive.
I guess the producers decided to go for Drew, because he has had enough game show hosting duties, but not as long as what his predecessor has already have. Bob did his tenure on game show, Drew does his tenure on stand-up comedy & acting. However, I love Drew!
drew deserves this job here he should been earlier picked . now he slimed dwn great lookin yepp. wayy to go mr drew..

Drew may not be Bob... but then again
I don't think any of us would've wanted it any other way.
After all... Drew's loveable and hugable... he's got heart...
He deserves this job

The real big proof that this was the first taped episode is not only the TV, but Drew's comment at 1:50 that "It's gonna be okay!"
