The rock had no legs at this point of his career, he was crafty as hell and an offensive grinder, great to see a guy get his on smarts and not just athletic ability.
It was impresive for a shooting guard to have such a great game againts this Sonics. Not only were they a great defensive team, but individually, the backcourt had a Payton who was a very prowd defender and just one of the best defensive guards ever, Hawkins was darn good on defense too. And of the bench they had Mcmillan and Wingate, another duo of great defensive veteran guards. And this was in the playoffs, which makes it even more impresive.
man i sure do miss mitch richmond it made me feel so good to here michael jordan say that mitch was his fav guard to play against i was jus 13 and remeber my older brother hating on mitch and then mike said what he said man i still have the basketball card of that game
As I recall, RIchmond had a hot night shooting, then the Sonics woke up and blasted the Kings 2 games in a row IN Sacramento to knock them out of the playoffs
@dhide14 They didn't blast the Kings in Sac. I was at both games! The Kings had the lead until late in the 4th quarter in gm 3, when Sam Perkins and Frank Brickowski went on a 3 pt shooting spree with the help of GP. The Kings played better than the Sonics for 45 of the 48 mins. They did get blasted in Gm 4, but only because Mitch got hurt in the 1st quarter with an ankle injury and didn't return.
@brian05fubu He was a great player in his prime especailly his days with Golden State and those Run TMC days, not so mush with the Wizards or Lakers, but even the most loyalist of fans have to agree that it was just a bit too much when he was called the Michael Jordan of the West.
Ridiculous video description...I guess the Kings were on the fast track to sweeping the defending champs, outlasting the Jazz, and ending up 2 games away from the title..
@Nebel64 The fuck are you talking about? Learn how to read. "The Kings upset the Sonics in Game 2 of the 1996 first round series." How does that turn into some bullshit about sweeping the defending champs?
@kevinseveneleven The video description below the video, not the title of the video; which has since been changed...it originally made claims that the Kings could have beat the Sonics in a series that year, which was a year that Seattle swept the champs and handed the 72-10 Bulls their only 2 game loosing streak of the year.
@Nebel64 No, that was actually from the description. Read again, bruh. Your explanation doesn't make any sense either. How does some speculation about what coulda happened translate to your mini-tantrum about them sweeping the defending champs and going to the Finals? Just stop, there HAS to be something better to do with your life than just make shit up trying to impress strangers. Read a book or something.
@Nebel64 Also in the same season where the defending champs beat the Sonics in 6 in the finals. I don't know why but i'm pretty sure the Bulls could have upset the powerhouse known as the Kings in the finals. I know they won like 39 games that year but I still think the Bulls could have taken them. I am also jealous that I didn't think of KarlMalowned as a username.
@mrtatermoistynaps kings still exist..

My favorite SG. Never had enough attention due to MJ publicity, but that was all media bullshit, not the real picture. Mitch was a killer!!!

Mitch Richmond would tear up today's league. It's sad so many great players lost their legacy due to MJ.

@brian05fubu Thankfully Mitch got him a ring with the 2001-2002 Lakers team. Guy was consistant for so many years and very underrated.
