  • I'm in U11 and my dance teacher does not like those big wigs, she does not allow them!I'm walking around a feis and everyone has their big wigs on and there I am just with my hair straight down, no makeup or anything!!

  • who is that girl in 6th ? please tell

  • i think the whole thing is unnecessary, if you want to go for the big wig, make up, fake tan than that is your choice but it doesnt make u a better dancer. Dont think the judges really care much if u can put fake tan on without it streaking and if they do...they shouldnt be judges!

  • Comment removed

  • shouldnt ur legs be doing that rather luminous colours and orange peel?

  • I Tink Tan And Too Much Make-Up Should Be Banned Cos Half The Girls Competin Look Like They Should Be In Beauty Pageants Not Feis But The Wigs As Long As There Not Too Big Are Ok ! In My Dance School Wigs And Tan Are Banned Which I Tink Is Good Its More Traditional :D I Notice The Girl In De Video Has No Wig But Yu Should Curl Her Hair Not Just Make It Look Big Cos Dats Not De Tradition :D

  • omg people

    ID has evolved

we wear wigs makeup and sometimes we tan

accept it and get over it

if you dont want to do any of it then dont theres no rule saying u have to

  • Great job to Catie! Congratulations for placing at the worlds!

  • I like the wigs- it's kind of cool to wear one, and dresses would kind of look weird without them. However, I wish that little girls would wear smaller wigs, not the huge ones made for bigger girls in the older age groups. They don't have to be bun wigs if they don't want them, but you know- not the fullest wig on the market. The same goes to make-up. I think little girls get excited about wearing it to the feises, but some of them overdo it. But I still think a little make-up should be allowed.

  • I suppose the wigs, makeup, fake tan, and glitzy dresses come from the influence of Riverdance. When I was active in stepdancing in the stone age (80's;D most of the girls either had their hair curled or simply styled. I can still see girls walking around Gaelic Park in the Bronx with their hair in those pink foam curlers! The parents then would have balked at the idea of fake tans and makeup...the costumes and shoes were costly enough!

  • i watch little girls goin to the feis's and they look like the bratz dolls cause their heads look so much bigger with them big wigs on them, they dont look at all real, i just hate them and theres no call for them this day and age, wish people would just take the initiative and say no my girls not wearin them, they'd eventually faze out then

  • i think the wigs are good for people with short hair and then if you have long hair just curl it but i htink its michael flatleys fault cuz he brought in like all the costumes and wigs and sock glue and tan i liked it the old way when i was younger

  • i started off with curling my own hair for the for first 8 years but than it took soo much effort and havin a wig was just convienant.

Im all for being very tradition and i hate how the new dresses look like now, no celtic patterns on at all, flouresent material, the tutu's underneath.

To me it feels like more of a beauty pagent, u can have a stunning dress and have it as bright as u want but its irish dancing!!! its about ur feet!

Its a shame its had to change so drasticly

  • Is there twotypes of irish dancing?

Cos im from ni, and the girls that dance here, dont wear wigs or those tie up pump things they just have dresses etc.

I would call that festival dancing, cos im pretty irish dancin is what they do, their style is more like riverdance, whilst this video is festival dnce.

But i could be wrong, im just wonderin!

  • thanks booglespud, thought when i opened my e-mail,here goes another stupid comment, like we're gonna put our own culture and tradition down for nothin, so its nice to hear from someone with sense, they really do look like shite, i wish they'd start a trend to go natural, i'd rather see a girl in short hair than wear them wigs, they're taking presentation too far these days and missin the point

  • plz someone get rid of the stupid wigs, they make them look like crap whoever started this craze needs there head seen to

  • oh shut up i bet you dont even irish dance. and think about how stupid they would look going around with pony tails. the wig balances it out

  • balances what out, their like mop heads, not a bit natural lookin, and yes i did do irish dancin, with my own naturally curly hair, and for my friends with straight hair, their mums curled them themselves, no-one had pony tails stupid, my comment wasn't a put down, its the truth, their crap lookin, for kids who have short hair could get extensions if their not happy, the wigs look like shite,

  • and i'm from belfast, where you from, america, and i bet ya have irish desendants too, i take pride in my culture, i play trad music too and i love irish dance and i know what i'm talkin about you shut the fuck up

  • If you have an issuee with thw wiqs, dont fkn complain about it here.

    nobody wants to hear it.

    kkkthankkks :)

  • speak fo r yerself, another yank i take it, thats what the comments are for thicko, it was constructive critism, they do look like crap, people need to make a change, they could wear hair extensions if they dont like their short hair and curl it, the wigs look like total shite, now if you dont like my comment, then you fk off

  • im irish and i hate the wigs aswell

  • I agree with you, elaine. I'm from Northern Ireland, and I used to do irish Dancing when I was a kid. I hate the new wigs they make the girls wear, they look terrible! When they dance, they should look natural, not done up like sheep =/

By the way I grew up with Riverdancer, Melissa Convery, and she was in my dance classes =D Soo proud of her!

  • omg thers meee!!!!!!
