  • by the way. does america have laws about corruption... if there are those peoples could be put in jail for good. unless court is as corrupted as politics.

  • There should be laws limiting private backing and the government should pay parties based on there amount of members within a serten limit.

    Simple eg:

Lets say your party has60%of the votes. The other party has30%and the rest are independents. You then get40%of the money cake from the state, the other party gets 30%(underdog laws)and the rest goes divided on independents.

Limited money to campaign for,but its the same for everyone and politicians dont need to or are allowed to sell themselves.

  • @Lobos222 That's a great idea. Of course, the obvious hurdle with all reform proposals is how to get the legislation passed. Any ideas on that?

  • You know whats funny?

In context of what I just said I have also said, before anyone even knew Barack Obama would run for President, that it was more likely that the US would get a black President than laws like these ever being accepted by the current system.

I dont know, but it would probably take a special event. The biggest hurdle isnt getting the laws passed, but the view of the average American. This would really easily be seen as power taken from the"public"(rich people) and given to Gov.

  • You can report this shit all day, and unless someone is blowin someone else in a stall somewhere, no one cares!

  • blue bloods and elites supporting their families and each other ....unheard of

  • Socialist agenda? You think Nazi's were liberals? ...Gee, I wonder what the chances are that you are an inbred, redneck, Republican voting, conservative scumbag.....99%? 100%? The latter seems more likely

  • Not only they are nazi but also aliens that eat your soul. :)

  • Just another Tea bagging Douche bag

  • @SupermarketsRevil

Like, how where the Nazis liberal. Ask him that.

Everyone had to be part of the Nazi party, by law. How is that liberal?

These people, whoever you replied to, are morons. A educated Republican, with no gain in tricking the public, would never say something stupid like that.

  • Exactly

  • I'm sure if a liberal's family did stuff like this, and a conservative pointed it out, you'd be perfectly fine with that, right?

  • LMAO AWESOME WOW best troll ever lol nobody could possibly say something so pathetically conveluted

  • Concentration camps? What the fuck are you talking about?

  • pimp senators and them hoes.

  • That's the big problem in the US. The open corruption. It cannot work.

  • isnt that the problem EVERYWHERE in the world? Its just that in the US, the curruption is done neatly and professionally. It's sort of like the hooker vs escort comparison. All over the world you get a hooker, over here we get escorts.. but its really the same thing.

  • Well, the comparison works for most of history, but I daresay that in for example the Swedish parliament there isn't much corruption at all. Of course there are lobbyists etc, but it's nothing compared to the EU, which is dwarfed by the US lobbyist-corruption circus.

But yes, your comparison is very accurate, only I think that unlike prostitution, we can get rid of corruption (and are in some countries), and that there's actually a point to getting rid of it.

  • I really dont see how we can get rid of curruption. It is in our human nature to be greedy, and since we live in a capitalist market structure, no amount of oversight can be enough to prevent every form of curruption. Nowadays, even the anti-curruption agencies are currupt. How sad.

  • Well it's simple, you have a Social Democratic state as Sweden does :)

Lobbyism, listening to corporations, and not listening to the people are really not tolerated. Well, the right-wingers do that, but they rarely hold power, and every time they do, a lot of people realize what a mistake it was very very quickly. But even the right-wing in Sweden is left of Kucinich.

  • I think I read somewhere that Sweden has the highest sales and income tax of any country in the world, however they also do have the top health care of any country. If we're gonna leap towards socialism, that's another topic. We didnt become the great nation we are by adopting socialist principles, so we have to be capitalist and also find a way to get rid of this corruption.

  • Well I think Americans really should look more to Sweden and Scandinavian countries. A great example is the banking crisis, where we basically had the same problem of '08 in the 90s (after the right had 4 years in office), but we solved it brilliantly. We bought up the banks, solved the problems, and sold them back to the private market.

Another thing is the "American dream". Going from the poorest bracket to the richest is more than twice as likely in Sweden as it is in the US...

  • Capitalist or socialist? Don't be so black and white. There are no real examples, anywhere on this planet, of pure capitalism or pure socialism. You should stop thinking in those terms.

  • @wtfdoihavetodohere

    Very true

  • Conservative males use their wives to hide their homosexuality. Much like Sarah Palin uses her children as a political shield-- it's just something to hide behind.

  • and i voted for the corp lap dog........well i feel like a dumbass now..........

  • American Insurance Companies - 10

    The American Public ----------------- 0

  • There's no such thing as a conservative democrat.

  • well the ending of this video with the idea of reaching out is actually worth noting.

  • you say the democrat person backing republican health care measure is a conservative democrat, why not turn around and say the republicans who are voting for this health care stuff at all simply democrats in the first place? this partisan elementary school game is nonsense, i hope you didn't go to law school to pull this joke cenk. with all your videos criticizing democrats lately, you still think there's a difference. quite a slow learner aren't you.

  • A bunch of crooks. I hope they have fun with that money now, b/c they'll be a price to pay for that greed when it's all said and done.

  • not if you keep voting obama into office LOL

  • @spyletu, ALL OF THEM.

  • the video wont play theres something wrong

  • I'm having the same problem

  • @jackster1990 - I've had that problem. Try refreshing the page, or saving the link, closing the tab, then pasting the link back into the adress bar.

The problem probably has something to do with the ad that plays before the video - the ad is there since all of TYT's youtube videos are "sponsored."

  • You are on a roll lately, Cenk. It's too bad the mainstream media won't report stuff like this.

  • sure, I think it would be better to be on the "populist" "side" than the "corporate" "side," but ideally, I'm opposed to taking sides. I think that reducing [the practice of dividing people into] "sides" should be the ultimate goal here (or eliminating them, if that were possible...)

  • it'd be funny if their wives left sum of them, lol, and took all the profits with them

  • Is anyone else having trouble watching this video? It's just not loading for me.

  • @acronus me too

  • When I saw this title, I thought some dirty stuff...

  • @pavanboi26 and you were probably right to think so. They all take it to the ass then mouth.

  • money and politics should mix at all!!!! this always go wrong when they mix!!!! thats why u watch PBS..lol...

  • U Kno why they dont ask them Cenk??? Cuz its all about ACCESS!!!! and if they dont have access they dont have viewers, they have to advertisers.. they dont have advertisers they dont have money!!!!! they dont have money, there is no PROFIT!!!!!! its all fine and dandy as long as ther making money.. who gives a fuck about real journalism!!! why do you think ther on the dicks of everyone in Power???

  • We need stricter conflict of interest rules.

  • @MrDeppness

Wait, term limits, i thought Rand was a libertarian, meaning less govt. I thought their party was all about choice. If i choose to keep electing a career criminal politician isn't that my choice. Why do i need an amendment to tell me i can't. If people want real reform heed these words "Being a citizen is a full tme job" and actually take the responsibility research your reps on google and decide for yourself if they are any good.

  • Haha, good point!

  • google add suck ass

    Google adds < F5

  • To get rid of the ads, just get ad block plus for firefox.

  • The only way we are going to solve this problem is by going with Rand Paul's idea. Rand, son of Ron Paul is running for KY Senate 2010 and he says all House and Senate Reps should have term limits. We need to filter out corruption in Govt. No more career politicians!

Once politicians in Washington have term limits they will start voting what is best for the nation, not their careers.

Pass this message along and look up Rand Paul for Senate 2010. True Patriotism defending the Constitution!!!

  • People will still be able to profit, it will only be short-term. After all, the president has a term limit too and it didn't seem to stop Bush or Obama.

What the US needs is a restriction on lobbying and an attempt to restrict "conflicts of interest."

  • @MrDeppness

Yep. That is how it should be. I only have one issue with the Paul's, but I would much rather them than anyone. They are the shit if there is only ONE thing I disagree with.

  • That could easily backfire. It might make it a more intense race to accomplish more in a shorter period of time, thus accelerating corruption, for it's race to gain as much political capitol as possible to win re-election. That might cause politicians to accept even more lobbying for campaigning.

I'm not sure, but it's certainly not a fix-all solution. I think if Rand Paul was the messiah many make him out to be, he would simply push for campaign-finance reform, instead....

  • Finally! I have been waiting for over a decade for someone in the media to state the obvious, that the corporations have been successfully pulling the proverbial wool over the eyes of republican populists for years! We on the left who have a populist view must find someway to bridge the gap in reaching the right-wing populist movement. Insulting them and calling them ignorant is not working. We do all have common experiences and interests! We all need medical coverage, jobs, food, shelter!

  • In the future, history books will have one seperate chapter on the TYT Revolution; Ken Burns will make an eight part PBS series about TYT Nation; Cenk and Ana will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

  • Comment removed

  • this is a classic case of conflict of interest a clear case of corruption.. u might as well have handed him the money in an envelop ..same method of using the family as a conduit to the congressional official..the media is owned by the corporate establishment and the incestuous relationship of the media to the government officials

  • Cenk that's how 80% of the world's politicians roll. What else is new ?

Change, I'll love for it to change. I'm sure everyone does but unfortunately, it will not happen. Remove the corrupt politician and there will be another waiting in the wings to take that empty seat.

IT IS HUMAN GREED THE ROOT CAUSE.

Give anyone a chance to make more money, accessibility and opportunity, and you have another corrupt official. Nothing new, sad but true. :S

  • And yet there are countries with statistically very low levels of corruption, like Canada, and countries where it's ubiquitous like Afghanistan. Obviously there are structural changes one can make to a political system to reduce the possibility of corruption, and you can CERTAINLY target specific sources, like corporate lobbying. The problem comes down to getting the necessary changes in when people with a vested interest in the system are blocking you.

  • New Media

  • cenk has been on msnbc, more then once.

  • i think we need a global revolution.

  • 6:04 he's totally right about that. i wish that the teabaggers would enlighten themselves about the truth but they are misguided by republicans.

  • I'm not sure what angers me more, the fact they are so opening corrupt, or the fact they come so cheap?

  • Capitalism is a business. Nothing more nothing less. They don't give a damn about politics.

  • @911truthncDotOrg How many networks have the 911 truthers been on? LOL

  • @johnedwards1968

Oh boy, a Cenk cheerleader speaks.

    The blind leading the blind.

  • 911 truthers are a bunch of fruit loops....

  • "Change you can believe in".

    Yes-sir-ree.

  • What's going on with AZ Ensign? The adulterer Senator, he's being given a pass or what? He hasn't resigned like he wanted Clinton to do, why not? Why hasn't he been impeached?

  • Clilton was up on perjury.

  • Privet Americans companies have very strict policies regarding conflicting interest. Yet our government has NO POLICY or LAW to avoid this?

The media has joined that very same conflict.

Are there no limits to the hypocrisy in our own government regarding these conflicts?

    Talk about a FUCKED system!

  • If you want a Corporate job, quit school and become a Republican volunteer. I was involved with a woman who went that route, and she hasn't applied for a job since 1992.

...Currently working for an offshoot of the Corrections Corp. of America.

  • I don't know how much senators make in US congress, but state senators in the small island of Puerto Rico get a salary of 150,000 a year + 50,000 a year stipends + fully paid car stipend (they keep each car the gov. pays for at the end of each term) + 20,000 gas stipend + a free cellphone. I wish Ibama sex a maximum on senators and representatives, but he won't.

  • thanks cenk!

  • i feel the only winner out of this mess is the insurance companies once again the real the money trail makes the rounds we have got to stop this corrupt lobby idea from shaping our laws and law makers or else the american public is going to continue to get hosed

  • "When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth."

  • Even if it's taken on a much different form, in essence, the US political system looks very much like 18th-century France. Aristocracy was a close-knit group of 'friends' who paid no taxes and shared the riches amongst themselves. Only peasants paid taxes to fund the king's wars and keep the wine flowing in Versailles. I'm telling you, one day this shit is going to break. People are going to reach their limits and heads are going to roll -- quite literally, like during the French Revolution.

  • True words spoken mate, coming from a fellow Canadian. The French Revolution was violent and all hell broke loose. Why?

Well, as Thomas Jefferson had said, when people have been oppressed for a long time, you can't expect them to react with peace.

Likewise, there will be a huge shitstorm going on in America, and the whole system is going to collapse.

  • Then the people now in power will set up another system that they have already figured out. Did you know that if a nuclear attack happens on US soil the gov. has a contingency plan to re-set up gov. and start collecting taxes 15 days after the event?

  • can he be vice? i'm not sure on the rules of that.... run with a really old sick guy for prez and hope he dies early, then... CENK FOR PREZ!

  • Nope. Unfortunately, the 12th amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that anyone who's not eligible to be elected President, can't run for Vice President.

  • damn wish my dad had been a politician lol i would have been loaded lol

  • @stefminus

Facism is the system where corporations and the government is the same thing.

Enjoy your oversized corporate government while I enjoy free healthcare, 2 month paid free time from work, free education on all levels & a government that fear the wrath of the people. Corporations will do as they are told by the people or leave our country.

  • @GnosticAtheist Were do you live i want to move there.

  • Norway. Come on down. ;)

  • Norway sounds awesome!!! Is it expensive to live there (buying houses and such)?

I wanna live there, then come back when I learn how their govt works so I can fix this BS here!

  • Yes, it is expensive, but not on nowegian pay. In order to be in Norway, you need to a) have a lot of money to spend to stay here for a holiday period or b) get a job in the country, since pay is one of the highest in the world (corresponds to our expenses), which means taking trips out of country for Norwegians is very common (as we are relatvely rich in non-scandinavian countries). Of the scandinavian countries, Norway is the most expensive, with highest average income.

  • @GnosticAtheist

So, you will see me one day.

What is the crime rate there? I heard countries like that have less than one murder per year (basically zero mostly). Is norway like that? I love the US but I would rather try to fix it than leave and give up. How is your overall government? How is spending?

  • We have our problems, but the murder rate is one of the lowest in the world. Other crimes is a problem in our main city of Oslo, usually drug related but within the drug sub-culture, so it is not a major consern unless you want to be in the crime sector. xD

We have normal high taxes, but everything is taxed on both income and product. Alcohol and tobacco are extremely expesive, but managable with Norwegian pay. Our government is social-democratic ("socialist"-democratic, in theory).

  • Part 2;

We have low penalty and a maximum of 20 years in prison. We do not have death or torture are punishment, but focus on rehab where possible. This seems to be very sucsessful when society is generally wealthy.

Spending is high, but we do not have a military industrial complex. Because of that, we still spend far less then you on average, as the US is based on weapon manufacture and demand (need for war). The US is by far the most socialist nation in the world if we look overall average.

  • part 3;

Socialism for the rich seem to be the modus operandi for the US, although I only base that on hearsay (never been to the US). In scandinavia, although not perfect, the goal is social justice for all, not social welfare for all. Spending is thus high on education and healthcare, relatively low on military and police, and average on infrastructure (on european average). Note that Norway is one of a very few nations who are not members of the EU.

  • @GnosticAtheist

Yep. Definitely coming there. Exactly what I believed in. Low military spending, low police but heavy education spending. More education=less crime. It is just logical.

  • Cenk for Prez!!!

  • sadly he isn't US born, he can't run! *tear drop* I'd sooo vote for him!

  • How the hell is that legal? You couldn't participate in a jury and countless other things when you have a conflict of interest like that. Why is he allowed to vote?

  • HOW DARE these politicians use their wives to get more PORK! These politicians are trying to steal their wives pants in order to get their way so that they don't have to wear the skirts in their families! When Palin becomes POTUS, she will see to it that these politicians still wear their skirts like every good husband should be wearing while their wives still keep their pants on! If these politicians dont behave, Palin WILL UNLEASH THE WRATH OF GOD HERSELF ONTO HIM and EXPOSE HIS PUSSY!

  • hope you get a new tin foil hat for christmas... cause those 9/11 conspiracies are stale

  • Don't be a Conspiracy Theorist yourself...

    idaho-observer(.)com/20030811(.)htm

  • Stale, maybe. Still closer to the truth than the official work of fiction.

  • we seriously need a hard-ass to take the lead and call these people, and then push it time and time agen.

  • @DiceWarwick

NOt gonna happen, If you wanna join "Their club"

You need to play by their rules.

    What a conicedence,

    without no education,

does the wife, get hired by the insurancce companies, exactly when her husband gets elected.

That is soo wierd ha ?

  • forget college! I'm becoming a politician and getting married and then have a bunch of sexy little political groupies and be proud of it and purposely get caught for attention and get all kinds of deals to get on T.V.

  • The entire system is corrupt, and it will never be fixed. The people who have to fix it is the ones taking the money, it's a joke.

And Americans are to lazy to ever do anything about it. As long as Americans have their televisions and internet and modest comforts most don't give a shit.

Most liberals talk a big game then never show up for rally's and events. Good luck getting 20 and 30 year olds to come out for anything.

  • @Xenite227 I don't show up because there are no rallies where I live and I can't afford to travel. You're right though, the only way the system will change is if there's something catastrophic like a

plague, a civil war, oil runs out, all the coastal cities flood, an asteroid strike, or even a fucking alien invasion.

  • oil IS running out my rationale for this belief is that it explains the American governments decisions the last 21 years

  • I sense sarcasm, i hope

  • EVERY POLITICIAN MUST GO THROUGH A National Phone and Internet Based VOTE OF CONFIDENCE EVERY 2 YEARS.

More than 50% of the Public and their Constituents Must Give them a Positive Rating (This happens Every 2 Years) or THEY ARE OUT OF OFFICE.

    AMERICA NEEDS THIS NOW.

  • Any Politician that takes Corporate Bribes or Lobbyist, Special Interest OR Corporate Money, SHOULD ALL BE THROWN OUT OF PUBLIC OFFICE, because those politicians ARE NOT Representing OR Working For American People, they are working for Corporations.

  • wow how are they so loaded? how did they get to these positions? connections?

  • amen end corruption by banning lobbists and limiting the senators terms up to 15 year. the only way we can do this is through ?vouchers? and adding the a protection that if the American people voted for then the house the senators supreme court nor the president can get ride of it. but if you think trying to get a public option has been filled with lies a bill like this would raise hell to the surface.

  • if cenk has soooo many good ideas, why doesnt he run? just sit there and complain

  • @koreythehill Not Natural Born, he can't be president.

  • @koreythehill The money Lebowski. Also, good luck getting an agnostic ex-Muslim liberal elected. Even in California that's quite the daunting task.

  • "Through the fascist agency, capitalism sets in motion the masses of the crazed petty bourgeoisie and the bands of declassed and demoralized lumpenproletariat -- all the countless human beings whom finance capital itself has brought to desperation and frenzy.."

    Leon Trotsky

  • @UB40RareMusic

    The politicians are fine.

    The people are the problem.

  • Lobbying is just as worst as Treason

  • agreed.

  • 18th century France, people.

    That's all I'm saying.

  • Here's one solution, boycott news media until they concede to give the populists the voice, not the politicians who screw us over, I'm sick of these greedy bastards screwing the American people over.

  • Once again, as always, well said Cenk. Your reports puts mainstream media TO SHAME. Looking back over the years at ABC, NBC, CBS evening news, talk shows ...I don't recall these "journalists" or their bosses raising challenging questions remotely resembling what their careers should stand for. It's high time for real change not this Obama theatrical "change for public show" while insurance, pharm, medical, finance corporations et al continue to run the show.

  • of course the way politicians get paid has to change lol

  • Overthrow and Impeach Obama, Overthrow the Whitehouse and Overthrow the Congress.

KILL THIS CORRUPT ANTI-AMERICAN GREED-INFESTED SYSTEM.

Americans TAKE BACK YOUR Corporate/ Neocon/ Zionist/ Israel/ War/ Oil/ Lobbyist/ BigMoniedInterest GOVERNMENT (Which IS O-N-L-Y FILLED WITH NEOCONS AND FASCISM, ALL POLITICIANS ARE NOW PAID LOBBYISTS WORKING FOR THE WEALTHY).

    .

  • I get where your coming from but by putting contradictory words in your arguement doesn't help to strengthen it.

Also, as much as I would like it to be, political hypocracy isn't an impeachable offence, nor do I think it nessiary to overthrow the government. All that must be done is to change the system so that corperations have limited power over a politician

  • US Government & Politics in DC is a Staged Reality Show

You only see the Actors (Puppets, both GOP & Dems controlled by Same Puppet-masters & Directors), you never get to see Owners/Directors behind the scene who control politicians, & plans all US policies.

Establishment Neocon Corporate GOP & Dems ARE SAME Party.

Banks, Goldman Sachs, Fed Reserve, Oil, War-Industry, Insurance, Lobbyists, Israel, AIPAC, JINSA, PNAC, CFR, Bilderberg, Rockefeller & Rotchschild are Directors & Owners of it all.

  • USA was NEVER supposed to be a Fascist or Totalitarian nation, a Corptocracy, a Communist nation or a Runaway Capitalism where Greed & Deception Rules above all. USA's a Constitutional Republic, a Social Democratic Republic, our Reps were chosen to WORK FOR us (their Constituents) NOT the lobbyists, neocons, zionists, israel, military industrial complex, nwo, federal reserve, corporations & special interests that want to put millions in politician's bank accounts.

    Solution= Nader/Paul/Kucinich

  • And then they are whining about corruption in Afghanistan. What happens in Washington DC is just legalized corruption. The problem is, that those that can make it illegal are in on the profit.

Also, I can totally see the conservatives and the progressives join forces over this issue. There is not always just a right and a left side to an issue...

  • America has NO Democracy, Only Corporations VOTE with THEIR MONEY, and only Corporations GET WHAT THEY WANT.

Washington DC and ALL US Politics IS ALL ABOUT taking BRIBES and politicians are ALL becoming Corporate Whore Lobbyists & are ALWAYS in bed with other Lobbyists, ALL OF THEM LOVE being SLAVES to Corporations & Corporate Bribery. Politics is a Game of Deception, Distraction, Greed and US Betrayal. THE ONLY THING Media, Corps & Politicians care about is getting Rich while Backstabbing USA.

  • campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform campaign reform

  • o shit i am not even halfway threw TYT stuff and i have to get up in 6 hours aaahhh what do i do sleep or TYT help please

  • sleep...tyt never goes away

  • thx things changed my fucking bitch of a sis who startd 2 loads of laundry at noon still is doing laundry the same 2 caz apparently its my fault that i needed to do some laundry b4 we left for vcay and that she finally at 12 20 decided to check her close and they wherent dry and since i am sleeping where the dryer is and its loud not happening o ya and u can hate on her to caz she is a fucking republican and worse she thinks its peoples own faults they cant afford insurance

  • The only way a politician would be vaguely loyal is if the government gave them a better offer than the corporations. This would however bankrupt the government, be a breach of ethics and would not even provide any guarantees. It would be like negotiating with terrorists.

Government is dead. Politics reigns supreme.

  • The very fact that politicians are in this mess is a pretty clear indication of a complete conflict of interest. They aren't elected to "get money" - they are elected to do a job. Contrary to popular belief, the job does not entail whoring yourself out to corporate interests in exchange for cash.

  • It's painful to watch from the outside looking in on America, especially since I can see it mirrored in England's politics, though to a lesser extent. It's like watching a movie and screaming at the characters to look out behind them.

Politics has ruined government, time after time, everything is promised, nothing is delivered and the elected just fill their own pockets before sabotaging it for the next guy. This is not a system of government, it's a one big national corporation.

  • People in public office and their spouses shouldn't own stock in corporations. Let them exchange their stocks for government bonds - let them invest in their actual jobs, proper governing, maybe they won't be as motivated to undermine it.

  • they set their own salaries. and ppl didn't think a problem would arise?

  • I've been refreshing it for 10 minutes now and it still isn't working

  • damn! im off to tyt hq.

  • Fuck paying them.
