WB was tops in everything and even musicals. Better than the later MGM "light fluff" stuff. WB always had a sense of reality or grittiness about their pix. "Footlight Parade" is a great vehicle not only for the usual performers, Keeler and Powell, but was an excellent venue to show James Cagney was far more capable than just playing thugs and mugs. Too bad Jack Warner held him back from doing more films like this: because this period came by only ONCE and isn't likely to seen ever again.

fun because Cagney spiced it up...I like Dick

Powell as well, good entertainer..Keeler was ok

though no Ginger Rogers or Ellie Powell.

Berkeley movies have those 20 minute song clips, kinda pre MTV.
