  • Depressing. There are better things to do in life than squint at a screen and tell all you 'friends' how good your new microwave is. And as for facebook - it must be the most badly designed , incomprehensible site on the web. I'm a professional copywriter, and if I wrote something that bad, I'd deserve to be sacked on the spot. Mark Zukerman is a VERY luck boy.

  • The three million views proves that everyone is thinking the same thing!

Us Dubliners know all about socialising with 1100 lively Pubs within 8 square miles!

    Alan (Dublin Visitors dublin1.webs.com)

  • Good information, nice video!

  • SOCIALGO

  • really helped me in research.... LOL

  • Hi, I just got the feedback that this video is not accessible in germany. Could this be true? If yes, what is the reason for this?

    Best regards

    FK

  • Wow! Watch our social media humor on my chanell, you'll enjoy it! =)

  • Didn't realise how social networking has changed so many lives... its great but then again, is it?

  • @XxxCherryDropxxX i agree with you but ofcourse it has its pros and cons, but I think it's still up to us on how to use it...

  • lol! if China allows facebook, it will be ranked no.1, if FB is a country.

  • Great video, thanks for the upload!

  • Bigger revolution: Ron Paul 2012. Just sayin'. =D

  • Great stats, this is real and business must change to cater for the new revolution in marketing

  • Soooo cheesy.

  • The video is amazing... Is there any specific software that you used for making it? can you please share it with me? :D

  • Yes,this is the new shift in communication and internet.More and more traditional businesses rely on social media. The field of exposure is enormous!Think of how many products or sites you recommend to your friends daily. And they generate income from that. Now is the time for business!

  • /watch?v=Q-hbmbL527Y

  • This video is F***en retarded, It offers up absolutely zilch counter arguments.

I am almost convinced that there will be a lasting place and use for Social Media, but I am also convinced that when people have got over the initial novelty of it, they will go back to writing to each other on paper scented paper for the ladies and effeminate men, and telephoning each other to fix those dates for to meet down the old Nag's Head innit.

  • Umpf.. Really fatboyslim musical comment speaks for itself..but I want to add that if 100 monkeys picked up random statistics of only the last 10-40 months and had to assemble it together to draw a bottom line..it would be more or less this slideshow. No brain. No sane politics. Please, change point of view, it is not a matter of drawing a statistics about the net it is about making it... and you just made it more silly... By the way..nice vector graphics, you know how to use it ;-)

  • what if we used the power of the social networking to deliver content that had a deep and lasting impact on improving the mental health of the world . then what would be possible . what if we educated both the left and the right brain at the same time to make us more effective human beings how far reaching would that be and how deep and lasting would the benefits reach . in offering this view we generate stunning possibilities

  • loved it...tho a tad too fast. had to hit on pause to read and enjoy the slides more. while i accept everything the slides say, i feel bad abt the decline in book & newspaper sales. nothing like sitting down with the morning paper and sipping a big cup of coffee or with a great book and a glass of red white!! i guess i m one of the oldies!!

  • "Is Social Media a Fad?"

The 90's called and said you can stop making fun of their opinions, now.

  • love this vid

  • I better get off my lazy ass and start watching more porn (still #1 bitches!)

  • @end1234567, it aint no. 1 cuz YOU think so, they probably have results from tons of surveys and stuff to confirm their statement.

  • This is Sad...

  • I really enjoyed your video and thought it was very well constructed and paced. The info certainly convinces me that I need to do social marketing.

  • This video is a nice way to promote Social Networks for a company: youtube.com/user/EADStv (video Paris Air Show... Follow us)

  • What a great video! I use all the social media I can & it is certainly not a fad. How could we ever go back! I do feel sad about the newspaper & book decline. I still love to sit down with a good read away from a computer`. ( also Vegas will never be the same now LOL)

  • Japanese medias are occupied by China and Korea. They give the wrong information to Japanese people to confuse them. Now,some Japanese people are trying to get back to them to have the right MEDIA.

  • In all reality, Social Media is not going anywhere. My company is creating the successor to Facebook. We launch in 3 months. Android Exclusive. Watch for Gr8erMinds, to take control of the scene, and give you something truly useful to use, for the next 10-20 years. You are welcome.

  • So, in the 60's we went to the moon and to the bottom of the sea. What do we do now? Facebook. lol. Am I the only one who feels saddened by this?

  • Cool video game tutorials on my channel, even how to make games.

  • That's why I'm buying Renren stocks... Facebook of China... Now price at a real bargain.

  • I want to show this video and cite some of the facts - do you have citations?

  • one of the best videos on social media out there.

  • Awesome! I tweeted it to and FB'd it! YaWhoo!

  • What an amazing production! I really enjoy this kind of masterpieces! Thank you.

  • Liked the video, though it´s too quick to read properly.

  • @CincoDeditos or maybe you're too slow?

  • @CincoDeditos use the pause button :)

  • @CincoDeditos can press pause and read each passage you know ;)

  • This super interesting, staggeringly fact-filled video about social media not being a fad, about advertising going down the drain, and about printed media withering away and dying, was in fact just one big ad for a book... what

  • This is a great intro video for people who have to explain to someone who knows NOTHING about social networking.

  • im doing a debate on social networking so ihave to look at a wide variety of benefits we gain from social networking.

  • Comment removed

  • @Benjatschek you can download the video using a video downloader then load it on to your presentation .what i always do.

  • It would be interesting to know how much actual phone call usage has declined

  • eagle-creative

  • search the GlobalEyesYouth youtube channel and watch our videos and give us a response! it will help our class project a ton! We are trying to use social media such as facebook and youtube to make a difference in the world and be a voice to people who can't be heard.

  • actually you're being ignorant and thinking you're all cool when in fact socialnomics is a completely reliable source that sites every single fact used in there videos if took the time look. FAIL

  • People who say Social Media only distracts people from reality, I doubt it, social media in a way has assisted me and others in being more aware of our world in general, I still remember the 90's and being relatively clueless, but now not necessarily thanks to Social Media but thanks to the Internet, I am awake.

  • "Ashton Kutcher and Ellen DeGeneres have more Twitter followers than the entire population of Ireland, Norway and Panama" - what put together ?

So that explains why certain people would like to see an end to our western societies.

Seen Wall E ? Give it say 100 years.

  • GREAT !!!! Advertising and people's insignificant, uneducated and irrelevant opinions and gossip are pissed into your eyes and ears like nevere before.

I read about a study that stated people who spend alot of time on social networking sites actually have less active social lives than those who are not tweeting or on facebook all the time.

  • I really like when they say: Listen first to your people, then sell. This is the basic of business...it hasn't changed! Social Media just facilitate to reach potential customers! Really well done! Thanks.

  • Is there going to be a 2011 update?

  • @TherealYoshi3

    i think they mean population...

  • This video is awesome! The music is quite motivational and in fact, I'm motivated to complete the layout and actually share my blog as well as to be more active on twitter. thank you for sharing DPS!

  • Now Facebook is the 3rd largest nation. 500 million.

  • Kudos to whoever made this video. AMAZING! insightful and eye opening!

  • If you need Facebook "likes" (fans) to promote your business, visit pagelik.es

  • Social media???? ANTI SOCIAL more like.....I used to be on faaaacebooook a year ago - had nearly 100 so called "friends" .......er, yeah, ok......but when I came off faaaaceboooook a short while later, where are they now?? only a few remain in true contact

the time has come to say, "back to life, back to reality" - there IS a real world out there to enjoy but you won't enjoy it by sitting there at your computers all day & nite updating your status!!!

Right, I'm off out on my bike now!!!

  • @pde2010 that means your a loser who doesnt have proper friends and adds randoms though, doesnt it?

  • @pwntno0b loser eh?? naaaa - more of a winner, I never added "randoms" far from it...the people i added were friends i had on a day to day basis - only trouble was, they had difficulty in contacting me outside of faaaacebooook....so I left it up to them at the end of the day to contact me via fone, knocking on my door etc....thats what makes it soooo sad & false really, too dependent on faaaaaacebooooook....don't worry, i'll never be CON verted!!

  • @pde2010 You obviously have no idea what the fuck "Social" even means. If you talked to those 100 people at all then it's not "anti-social" It's being even more social!

  • @SniperViper1000 Thanks for your kind words... "Social" to me means actually meeting up & talking face to face or even chatting on the phone, this is something many on faaaaaceboooook are afraid to do nowadays - i'm sorry if your idea of "social" means just typing away in the corner of the room, all i'm saying is that there is a real life outside of the faaaaacebooook bubble to be enjoyed ;-)

  • Very intresting way to share information. Well done buddy.

  • for everybody out there who still believe in the power of imagination , you should check the video called blop75 . hundreds of hours spent with no other goal than bringing to life what i had in mind !! i'm on the wrong planet my friends ! well , have fun

  • Why have 385 individuals disliked this? It's quite insightful...no matter how you cut it, progress is progress is progress people.

  • @shilpa82494 probably people who don't want the change? kind of like the hold out who didn't want to drive a car, and preferred driving their horse and buggy, back in the day.

  • However overwhelming these amazing statistics, the reality is that we are now entering an exciting era in which small, local businesses and even individuals can have a voice that can be found and heard - to their exact market. With the recent re-orientation by Google, Bing, Yahoo and Bing, giving new priority to localized listing, the "world wide web" can now be seen as the "local narrow web". The implications are staggering for those that choose to reap the benefits of this new paradigm.

  • I think this is great especially when it comes to small businesses it helps even out the competition

  • LOL u had an error for "if facebook was a country" you have forgotten that Canada is bigger than the united states of america.

  • @soccer50002

    Largest in population, dude

  • @soccer50002 ... He's talking about population darling, not geo-spacial size...

  • SOCIAL NETWORKING MORE POPULAR THAN PORN!?!??!?!?!?!?!

  • he's using motion

  • Very nice video, could you let me know what sort of tools you are using to create it? Excellent piece of presentation art... thanks

  • You can't share this video in the netherlands

  • In soviet russia news find you !

  • Hey #UN#,

This was a pretty cool vid.

  • im watching this because i saw it on sickapedia lol

  • ...Works a lot better with Egbert's 'transitions' playing in the background ... that song is old and the statistics are horse manure. 33% of 18 to 34 year olds have ever watched a DVR? Only 18% of tv advertising campaigns work? lol, no.

  • ...Works a lot better with Egbert's 'transitions' playing in the background

  • WOW!

  • Hi my name is Ashley Franklin and I am Student in Dr.Strange EDM310 Class at the Univ.of South Alabama and we are having to do a project for our Class Blog and I have chosen to do mines on this video on Social Media just to show people how fast technology is moving.

  • :( Am I the only one using email? No wonder my friends take months to respond.

  • This video is fun, a social comment on the social media world in July 2009. Although the statements are out dated (April 2011), only be expected in this fast paced social network world, where 30 year old governments can be toppled within hours – it’s talkin to a generation of it’s time. Music is great! Driving it along – a story in it’s self – the journey of social networking. It also seems to be the only thing that this video is serious selling with a link to iTunes, Thanks.

  • WOW dude this just blow my mind lol...crap...its everywhere social media is here to stay...but is it good or bad?

  • סרטון מעולה הממחיש את משמעותה של מהפיכת השיווק במדיה חברתית.

  • No social media isn't destroying this generation. Ise

  • This ad works because of the MUSIC!! Any message could be attached to such catchy energizing (perfect short attention span) rapid media graphics. Yes, I saw this in a class (numerous times). Luv it!

  • i feel like this is an advertisement

  • Comment removed

  • @Jord4n09 This IS an advertisement. Ironically it's challenging the traditional concept of advertisement by using social media just as they described. The short statements, rhetorical questions, and flashy graphics are part of an advertisers rhetoric. They haven't tried to sell you anything, but now you're thinking about social media and may have headed to their site dedicated to that - as intended. Statistics create an apparent objectivity but the effect of the video is still sensationalist.

  • @Equilibristic No truer words have ever been spoken.

  • EITHER -mindblowingly awesome, OR - it's, what's the point, it will be all out of date tomorrow

  • I think the young people of Canada should get out there and vote this Federal Election instead of sitting home on facebook or xbox get you and your friends to vote this year make a change you wanna see in the world.

  • help is out there!! pick up the cool funny book for their addiction... thesocialmediaaddiction. co m

  • we no longer search for the news, THE NEWS FINDS US...

    SOCIAL MEDIA REVOLUTION

  • Is Social Media a fad or is it the biggest shift of communication since the Industrial Revolution?

96% of people worldwide use or have joined a social network.

    It is the way forward

  • @ssnjones its the way forward but it also cripples vocal and face to face communication

  • @Jingles524

It doesn't have to cripple peoples communication, throught Spinglo, you will have the opportunity to communicate with people world wide, much the same as Face Book,

  • Who would dislike this video?

  • @TheChillpill99 anyone with a brain...social networking is destroying this generation.

  • If you want to use the tools to build your social media sites and also make money sharing them with other business owners visit :

  • this is a great vid if your not with it your a loser

  • @dmilla04 It's "you're" a loser. As in, you are. Not "your" a loser, which relates to the individual. Keep text messaging. It's doing wonders for your grammar.

  • @ridgehand.. keep smiling it may never happen. :-)

  • youtube.com/watch?v=IbnmJSFrViM

     is far better

  • Love this video!

  • Facts? Cites?

  • great vid

  • We love using this video at the beginning of our social media workshops. It really packs a punch! Such an effective montage.

UNIQ - The Academy for Entrepreneurs

  • Social Medial will no doubt profoundly effect Human Existence on this planet. That's all the video is trying to say...even if the stats are off. Not tomorrow but certainly in a decade or so.

  • HOW MANY ARE WATCHING THIS BECAUSE OF SCHOOL?

  • @ExotiqBeautii have been asked to watch this for my class discussion

  • Right here, right now. Very fitting soundtrack! I would like to see what these statistics are today.

  • Social Media is just another way to distract the public from what is really going on in the world. Stay focused on everyone's tweets and status updates while we all get robbed blind of our rights and money. Your next superphone will do even more stuff to prevent you from living in the real world.

  • This is kinda scary.

  • the editing on this is pretty effing amazing!!!!!!!!! loved it. LOVED IT!!!!

VIVE LE REVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!! x x xx

  • There are just general misunderstandings of vital concepts on Wiki

  • Wiki is not MORE accurate than an encyclopedia but it is AS accurate. Since there are so many app's that allow one to access Wikipedia, the information is more convenient.

You can research the statistics in this video yourself. Or you can just be like that one guy on family guy who just HAD to tell Peter he was a big fat phony.

  • @aureliahinojosa hahahahaha!!!! hey hey!!! LOOK ! he's a big fat phony! you're a phony! :D LOL ...and i remember that whenever that guys says all this to peter, peter just doesn't care making it even funnier xD

  • what program did you use to create this video its amazing!

  • WOW

  • Everything has changed with Social Media. I know my life is better and happier for it, but there are pitfalls as well. As long as you keep your head about you when using social networks they can remain more of a blessing and not be as likely to become a curse.

  • A question PLEASE! What software could be used to create a montage like this? Anyone can help?

  • The reason online students outperform face-to-face teaching is because they've the book open in front of them when they're doing an exam, I know, I've done it myself

  • Wow it's amazing !

  • Know the sources of the statistics you see. Those presented here have next to no sourcing ... which should be a red flag for any critical thinker. The NLP and pop-ad techno music trak and fast pace is designed specifically to challenge your ability to consciously retain the propaganda presented. Subconscious asssimilation is preferred by advertisers for its resemblance to the way most people process testimonial reviews by peers. Bottom line: you are being tooled. Do not be fooled.

  • @grz311 Thank you for the information. It totally bring a new way to think about these kind of videos !

  • @grz311"Know the sources of the statistics you see. Those presented here have next to no sourcing" It's the generation of not citing anything though. That's almost half the point. It doesn't matter anymore what the truth is - it just matters what popular opinion created as the truth. Rumours have the power of creating popular opinion.

  • @JordanRossMackenzie i forgot the site for this, but there were sources there. vid maker didn't research this information, he plucked it out of a list

  • @grz311 Bottom line: your missing the point. You would be a tool to overlook the effectiveness of Social Networking for advertisements that are geared torward the IP's interests. Sure there are no sourcing, and the stats may be off but in general SN has far exceeded the effectiveness of traditional addvertising. And yes we are FF through your commercials. Welcome to 2011, Baby Boomer. Embrace it or retire.

  • @grz311 thank you thank you thank you. these stats are wildly specious.

  • I enjoyed the video, but revolutions come with guillotines. TV, radio, etc., still exist and are also evolving with better technology and content, so where is the revolution? Of course it took TV 13 years to match the numbers that FB generated in 9 months. When TV began to grow, the world pop was less than half of what it is now, TV was an expensive luxury and the world was not wired, but now even the poorest family has a TV set. Your # comparisons lack a baseline and lack common sense.

  • video looks awesome, thanks for the helpful content

  • Typo at 2:36 !! THUMBS UP IF YOU SAW IT!

  • What is used to make this video?

  • @pwntno0b they letting you know that u are making history w your post on the internet and social medias. and you can put this to good use if you want to.

  • Thanks for pulling that together. Very interesting.

  • Social network marketing is a fail now if u excuse me im about to tweet this to everyone i know.

  • Wow, this video was fascinating. The overwhelming popularity of social media sites is vastly changing the way we are relating to our friends, family, and even businesses and government. Its so important that businesses continue to stay abreast of these current trends and continue to reach their customers directly through these outlets.

  • Great video - highly recommended!

  • Comment removed

  • Haha nice little stat there cfryant.....this thing was waaaaayyyyy too fast!!

  • The only problem with Wikipedia is that it isn't ALWAYS correct, because it's filled out by people... just like you and me. It's useful for getting an introduction to a new topic, but after that you need an "official" publication to make sure that information is correct.

That being said, I used Wikipedia to learn the basics of the information used for my Senior Engineering project.

  • @blargorithmic Its been proven that Wikipedia is almost exactly as accurate Encyclopedia Brittanica, dickhead.

  • @pwntno0b Well if you can cite a non-Wikipedia source, I'd be more than happy to check it out :P

  • @pwntno0b but wikipedia is NOT more accurate as the video claimed and there is only 1, yes one singular, study that shows this (done by Nature magazine in 2005), why then did the maker of the film decide to pluralize the word study to studies. Now shove that up your hole, dickhead

  • @MrPain331 When the fuck did i say that i agreed with the video? stupid dumbfuck

  • See what is also changing all over the world. at: worldwidedata.ws

  • "Social Media has overtaken porn as the #1 activity on the web" LIES!

  • where you trying to make a point or just state some facts? I see the facts...nice :)

  • keep up or shift gears - Live Life Large! michaelpacitti

  • Great video! So true!

  • great video i just learned so much about social media with this video and i added the website to my profile , amazing!!!
