Nice try Pillarmusicrocks, but you're the first guy to troll this video and it's obvious that anyone else who chips in so soon is either you or one of your middle school friends.
lol gundam wing was kinda ovverated, but it deserved its hype. the artist made it as a joke, literally as a joke and it ended up kicking ass. alot of gundam fans dont even like considering G gundam a gundam series. but it was very enjoyable ill agree with lol. i liked it, but when i wanna watch gundam, its allways either wing, 8th ms team, or 0083 :P
Wing's production value was totally unproffesional, and it was made a year after G Gundam. G Gundam accomplishes with sublety the message that every other Gundam show in existance beats over the head of the viewer. It's not simply a better show, it's one of the best of all time.
@vonFiedler ill agree that the production value to wing wasnt the best, and lacked big time compared to other series. But saying that G gundam puts forth the same messages that the other gundam shows give in a faster, better way is just out right wrong. take 8th ms team for instance, its a semi realistic, gorrila warfare war story, that portrays good cahracter development, the story of a brave commander, and questions just exactly how evil our enemies can actually be.
I'm sick and tired of Gundam shows that constantly tell you how war is bad, while still being a show about giant robots fighting, all through protagonists that constantly "don't want to fight". It's sickening. G Gundam has the same war is bad message in the background, but in the end...
SPOILER
Master Asia realises it was folly to attempt to remove humanity from nature, as humans are a part of nature. In one climactic episode, G Gundam "gets it" better than any Gundam before it.
While Wing wasnt very realistic, it surpassed many shows just because of its sheer political and tactical story line. it had a certain depth to it that other shows just didnt have, it was actually quite confusing at time just trying to figure out who was on the good side, and who was against who. Not to mention other series, i just cannot see how G gundam supposedly brings these themes and messages to the reader in a better way.
No, it didn't. Wing was not new in its lessons at all and had production values more reminiscent of the 80s than the 90s. Americans like Gundam Wing because it was the first Gundam show many were exposed to, in Japan it was old hat the second it was released. The only new thing it does is have 5 different Gundams, and how awesome when they all have reuse animation from the start of the show till the end.
@vonFiedler i didnt doubt u when u said Wing had poor production values. i agree. But what do u think Gundams original intent was? it wasnt just fighting robots...it was about WAR. G gundam stand out form the rest because it is the only show that was so farfetched, it was good. i perfer storylines that focuss on war tactics, politics, and sides of the war portrayed uniquely. that just doesnt happen in G. it was the black sheep of series....other than one other...whos name shall not be mentioned
i hope u unerstand exactly what im saying here. I loved G gundam, but it just wasnt the same as the more mature storylines that the other ones had. where action wasnt allways just the main focuss.
You're not just making a statement from your point of view, but from the American point of view where G Gundam got the short end of the stick by being released a few years after Wing and with so-so voice acting. In Japan, where Giant Robot shows (as opposed to Real Robot shows) are common and celebrated, G Gundam was massively popular and influential for years. It's horribly underatted in America, that's unfortunate, but I do believe it's one of the highest quality shows ever made.
dude, Wing was not the first gundam i saw lol. i started off old school with amuro in the original. and after seeing almost every gundam series...G gundam just isnt the same lol. and please..have you seen sword of the stranger? G gundam doesnt come near to the art quality of other anime. ill agree it was smooth, but not "high quality" by far. and dude im not hating on G, i own both box sets lol i love it. its just not as good imo comming form my perspective.
Did you know there were over 200 unique musical tracks made for G Gundam? That's 4 times as many episodes as they had, and it was all great music. Yes, we've had better art since G Gundam (Like Gurren Lagann) due to better technology, but I'm not judging G Gundam on art alone. It's the total package. Character development, storytelling, a message I can get behind. The closest American equivalent I can think of is the original Batman animated series.
come on dude, have u seen shows like berserk where the quailty is so low budget, yet it packs probably the most philosophically epic tale ever told into 24 episodes of insanity? im sorry but compared to shows like berserk, gungrave, or even 8th ms, g gundams character development and just overall depth lacks.
It's funny you should mention berserk, as berserk is terrible, TERRIBLE compared to the manga. Still a good show, with much much much much better production value than Wing.
ive read the manga i know, but the anime is just so classic, and was very very low budget, they did great with what money they had imo. berserk is like the cult classic of anime. and to be totally honest, the manga is probably the most detailed thing ive ever seen in my life. but i would never go as far as caling the berserk anime terrible lol. its probably my favorite anime to be honest just for the sheer power of its depth and plot
dude, i could sit here all day and discuss the symbolism behid berserk and the philosophical questions it brings up throughout the anime. could u do that with G gundam? to be honest, i could probably think of one or maybe 2 scenarios on how we could, because the rest of the show is just blind violence without much depth or character development...
I could break down each and every episode of G Gundam and tell you how they contribute with subtlety to the overall plot, or to the individual character's growth. The "Blind Violence" you speak of is a footnote in a show where every episode is like a mini-movie (again, like the Batman animated series), with its own theme and characters to develop. Just off the top of my head, look at the prisoner from episode 5 that you never see again, he had dramatic character development in just that episode.
Berserk on the other hand is exhilerating, but spends many episodes just showing the extreme violence. Reffering to my earlier spoiler example again, how many shows actualy have a "humans are a part of nature" message? The first time you watch G Gundam you don't think there's much of a message to it, but if you payed attention you'd be blown away by the end. The show is worth going back, watching again, and learning more from. That's a rare accolade.
dude, berserks "extreme violence" is actually a reference to dantes inferno. its there to depict the most excrutiating suffering one man can endure without losing his sanity. its not there for just sheer shock value. G gundam on the other hand, is just over exaggerated fighting robots, that resemble power rangers more than a traditional gundam war story.
G Gundam is a Giant Robot show. If you knew anything about anime, you'd know that a better comparison would be to shows such as GaoGaiGar, Getter Robo, Giant Robo, or Gurren Lagann. Of course, none of those comparisons would be insulting, and for a guy who says he likes G Gundam you haven't said a good thing about it yet.
You also apparently don't know much about Wuxia cinema, which G Gundam was based off of. I'm sure such movies are constantly critically acclaimed at foreign film festivals for their "blind violence" and "lack of deep characters". G Gundam may be of the Giant Robot genre, but it's really a Kung Fu show that happens to have giant robots in it.
You are a fanboy who cannot accept robots outside of Gundam. In Gundam Wing, one Gundam kills hundreds of other robots without taking a scratch, only stopping when running out of ammo or until the pilot self destructs for no good reason. Then the pilot starts cutting himself and crying, and apparently this is real war to you emo cuntards. Forgive me for wanting a little entertain with my messages, which you have still yet to address, so I leave you with only this video as consolation;
Yes many fo the Japanese anime have adult content and the American adult cartoons such as Futurama, Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, Sit Down Shut Up, are no where near as graphic as uncut japanese anime.
Remind me to buy and Australian bush jacket in the future.
